Doctors and staff are amazing. Having a pet is not cheap especially when they have health issues. The doctors do a great job of providing pricing and options for every issue prior to service. In my opinion I suggest getting insurance for any pet if you can afford it..... it has saved me lots of $$. Read Less

I am extremely disappointed in Shrewsbury Animal Hospital. I called at 8:45 am and I told the receptionist that it was an emergency call. Because my dog has been vomiting all night long and seems like he is dying. She said bring him over and asked how soon can I bring him over, I told her I will be there in about ten minutes, she said it is OK he will be taking care right away. TERRIBLE TERRIBLE TERRIBLE... check in with the front desk. I am sad and disappointed. The woman at the front desk was talking over the phone, I told her I am here for the emergency visit, my dog is dying, he didn't have much hope, she ignored me. Pleaded. I stressed to the receptionist that he had to be seen as asap, she couldn't care less. I told her I am leaving, she couldn't care less. And I left with my dying animal. That woman who showed no concern about my distress. I hope this person finds a different career.. They don't show compassion for you when you are worried about your furry children. Never would I ever bring another animal here. Unprofessional and unsympathetic staff, lack of humanity. No even a phone call to follow up if my dog still alive. Will never recommend this facility to any animal lover. Read Less

$52 dollars for them to look at ear wax under a scope for 2 minutes. $25 dollars to show me how to clean my dog's ear. $40 dollar vaccination on the phone turned into a $116 visit because a shot required a "head-to-toe" examination from the vet. Shrewsbury Animal Hospital has a friendly and knowledgeable staff - there is no debating that - just expect to be over-sold on over-priced services hidden under veterinary terminology. My family has used this facility since I was a young. They took excellent care of our dog then, and they have taken excellent care of my cats and rabbits today. The staff is extremely nice and the doctors are very knowledgeable and caring. They took the time to properly diagnose my cat's asthma and put her on a regimen that would be safe for her. And they always do next day follow up calls after a special visit. I highly recommend Shrewsbury Animal Hospital. Read Less

My girlfriend moved back to NJ from Florida. Her 13 year old dog means the world to her. She had a terrible experience at Oakhurst Veterinary Hospital. They charged her over $1,000 in a 12 hour period and a staff member actually asked her to borrow money from a friend to help pay for additional tests that were not necessary. She didn't and her dog was fine. On a whim, she went to Shrewsbury Animal Hospital after being ripped off and verbally assaulted by the personnel at Oakhurst. The veterinarians she has dealt with at SAH, a.k.a. VCA, are very knowledgeable and have always returned her calls when she has questions without hesitation. She's pretty picky, so if she tells me she's happy there, that speaks volumes. All vets are expensive but they have tried to contain costs when they can. Glad she found a place where she feels her pet is well taken care of. I would highly recommend.Read Less

My wife and I live in Manhattan and there are vets as close as a block away. But whenever we need medical attention for our cats or dog, we prefer to drive to the Shrewsbury Animal Hospital where we know our pets will get the best attention. Incompetency at its worst! Long and agonizing story but here we go..about 10 years ago brought my dog in for ear infection, went on for about 6 months with them just changing meds back and forth. Took him to Monmouth Animal Hospital(Which unfortunately has since closed) the took a culture, mixed there own concoction and the infection was gone for good within 10 days. Shrewsbury couldn't do that? Same dog was hit by car, not seriously, but didn't know it at the time. Brought him to Shrewsbury because they were the closest and they refused to see me and turned me away. Fast forward to 2013, new dog, same old incompetency. Had no choice but to try them again because as I said, Monmouth has since closed. They have a puppy package which was enticing, my second visit a guy is there with his dog with an abdominal obstruction, they turn him away and tell him to go elsewhere....Sound Familiar? They prescribe me some tick and flea medication that was supposed to be the next great thing, I think it attracted more ticks than anything else. My next visit a different vet tells me its not really rated for ticks. Are you kidding me? One hand doesn't know what the other is doing over there. Schedule my dog to be fixed a month in advance, take him in and drop him off, get a call at the end of the day telling me to reschedule because the the vet took to long with the 4 other surgery's and that mine was the only "elective" surgery. How about they were getting full price for those surgery's and mine was at a discount with the puppy package. Just a money grab. Meanwhile, my dog hasn't eaten for 24 hrs and has been locked up in a kennel all day for no reason. Then when I voice my displeasure, Dr Mags cops a serious attitude and tells me to get my chart and go somewhere else. Serious Napoleon complex. Of course, he only does this as he walks away and hides behind closed doors. I don't care if I have to drive 20 miles to go somewhere else, I will never go back there nor recommend anyone else to go there !!!Read Less
