Pleasant Valley Veterinary Services

Washington, New Jersey
General Info
Pleasant Valley Veterinary Services in Washington provides caring and knowledgeable veterinary care to pets in the local area. Their services include Dental Care and Deworming. The practice’s team, which profoundly understands the bond between pets and their families, focuses on wellness, chronic issues, and urgent care. At Pleasant Valley Veterinary Services in Washington, pets experience the same home rhythm while owners stay relaxed and stress-free throughout New Jersey. At the beginning of a visit, animals enter as they prefer. Employees watch how visitors move around the space, how long they settle and what kinds of stimuli – touch, sound smell – they respond to. Veterinarians perform a comprehensive assessment of an animal’s hydration levels, skin elasticity, limb mobility, dental status, coat condition and weight distribution while discussing recent sleep patterns, feeding schedules, and changes in household energy with the owners. Pleasant Valley Veterinary Services offers vaccinations, bloodwork, mobility care, dental planning, preventive guidance, surgical support and long-term care discussions. The service distribution can be incremental or all-inclusive depending on the pet’s sensory preferences. Some families choose to spread visits out over weeks or months while others prefer to focus on a single visit and allow families to follow-up with assigned resources within the community. Each plan stems from the household’s ability to execute it adequately which considers factors such as caregiver burden, pet tolerance, transportation accessibility and typical family schedule trends. Appointments have room for questions and side notes when I tell her about my “glucose adventures,” which is especially helpful as a new diabetic. Pleasant Valley Veterinary Services helps the pet families of Washington and nearby areas in New Jersey make care a natural part of their lives rather than a daunting task, thereby creating opportunities for connection and long-term wellness. They are committed to preventive care, early disease detection, and timely treatment. Clients commend the company for its transparency, educational guidance, and tailored suggestions. We remain fully engaged with each case, from complex diagnoses to senior pet care. Their status rises as more pet owners learn about this unique company’s approach to veterinary health.

I have been coming to Pleasant Valley Vet for almost a year.  I live almost an hour away.   Dr. Liv, one of the veterinarians, had been my dog Molly's vet locally but when Dr. Liv re-located to Pleasant Valley we followed her.  We endure this long commute since Dr. Liv, to a large part, had been responsible for guiding me and caring for my wonderful lab Molly for 8 years with inflammatory bowel syndrome.  Due to her care Molly was basically a "normal" dog  until her passing several months ago.  Since then I have acquired a new wild child puppy named Joy that I continue to bring to Pleasant Valley.  In my opinion, once you find an amazing knowledgeable vet (or doctor, dentist, etc.) AND you cherish your pet, you make whatever sacrifice is necessary including driving time.  Not only is Dr. Liv the best vet I have encountered in my 40 years of having dogs, but the office staff at Pleasant Valley and Dr. Mary too exceed all expectations.  Last weekend I saw Dr. Mary for a potential UTI in my pup.  She was professional, kind, sooo smart and even took the time to coach me on getting my puppy to respond to commands with a clicker.  The staff took the time to coach me on nail cutting and submitted my bill to the insurance company as part of their service.  Each time I call the office EVERYONE on staff is kind, never short or impatient even though I am sure they have overwhelming days, and frustrating situations.  I have never before been so pleased with an entire office's response to my pet's needs.  Thank you Pleasant Valley Vet. I've used this veterinary practice for many years and called today with concerns about my dog being ill.  They turned me away and recommended another vet or one of the emergency clinics in the area like Animerge or Crown.  It's not like I was just someone off the street calling for an appointment.  Granted, they really took great care of my dog over the years and I was very pleased with them but after this phone call, it just gave me a sour taste in my mouth.  I have jumped around quite a bit to find a practice that I really like and Pleasant Valley was it for me but after this treatment today, I am not so sure now.The receptionist stated that they were busy and didn't have the time and I totally understand that but they could have gone out of their way a little bit to assist me.  If they offered advice, such as,  "wait it out for 24 hours and if she is not better, give us a call" but nothing to that effect.  That would have made me feel better than to just suggest going elsewhere.  I did not feel warm and fuzzy and the treatment I received was downright "cold".  I guess it's true when they state, "you are only a number". Thankfully, she is feeling better today but being that she is 12 years old and had me up all night; I was concerned that it was detrimental to get her medical attention.I am just very disappointed and hurt by their actions and will not be returning to this practice.    Back to square one in finding another vet. Maybe I will just go to the veterinary practice that they recommended because I hear they are wonderful! Read Less

I wish I could give them no stars. This past Thanksgiving something was wrong with my cat. We took him here which is also where we adopted him, so they know his whole history. After they examined him this Doctor Katie called my mom. I literally heard her say "He's lost a lot of weight since we last saw him. Since he lost so much weight so fast he might have hyperthyroidism!" After my mom explained it wasn't that fast, over the course of a year and a half, in fact, the "doctor" immediately replied "Oh well, because he lost so much weight over a long period of time that indicates he has thyroid problems so I want to do blood work" Contradict yourself much? We took him home because even if he did have thyroid problems I would not put my cat through that. He's too old! I couldn't put my parents through that either since they're the ones that would have to give him the pill. Once we got home we realized...the poor kitty couldn't walk! So I wondered if the doctor looked at him at all? After all these years I was never really happy with the people at Pleasant Valley Veterinary in Washington, NJ. Thanks to these morons my cat can't even walk and he might have to be put down because these horrible people wouldn't give him the time of day. Read Less

My experience has been the opposite of "AnimalLover". With three dogs, three cats, two horses, three fish and a frog, vet visits are a constant part of life around our house. After moving to the area seven years ago we tried several of the local clinics before settling on Pleasant Valley as our small animal vet about three years ago. Their service has always been exemplary, and we've never felt we were being pressured or "guilted" into unnecessary (and expensive) options, as is often seems to be the case at other places.
