Very disappointing.  I called for an appointment explaining to the receptionist that my dog has a cracked canine.  I was told that this can be handled on site.  Went to the appointment only to be referred out to veterinary dentist half way across the state.  I was charged a full office visit for nothing to be done.  As I was leaving they asked if they could weigh my dog...unbelievable.  I do understand that I am paying for the facility's time (5 minutes) but my time was also wasted.  Needless to say I will not be returning. I inherited an elderly poodle. When she developed a limp, I brought her to see Dr. Alexandra Adler who recommended I order a Hero Brace which cost $1100. Of course I would do anything to help my pet.        When the brace arrived, it was obvious that it caused my dog significant pain. She refused to walk with it and her limp was even more pronounced. It had either been made incorrectly or measured wrong.    I brought the dog back to the vet and Dr. Adler observed the dog and agreed that the brace was a problem. But rather than advocate for me her client, she took the side of the company that made this brace. She told me that it was a final sale despite that it was defective. Long story short, the dog never used the brace and surprisingly she healed completely without it.    Sadly, I liked Dr. Adler and would have continued with her for care of my poodle. And I would have felt better if she had offered to split the expense with me. I wanted to be reasonable. Long story short, I had to "eat" the entire cost of the defective brace and Woodbridge Veterinary lost my business. Read Less

I've been using this vet since I got my dog as a puppy. I have seen many of the doctors and my favorite is Dr Fink. I got him confused with Dr. Adler and made an appointment with the wrong doctor. The visit wasn't horrible but the wait was almost and hour and my dog was getting very antsy.  When I saw Dr. Adler he got a little snippy with me when I was telling him about my dog's ear. He said if you request me you need to let me do my job. I thought that he was being a little condescending. After that I just kind of let him do his thing. He was good with my dog and gave him a thorough exam. Dr. Adler just has a way about him that may turn people off, but I believe he is a good vet. I would recommend this vet. They have always taken good care of my dog. The front desk ladies are always pleasant and fit me in for last minute small emergencies. Read Less

My husband and I scheduled an appointment for our cat who had a sinus infection. The waiting room was clean and spacious. Intake was quick and professional. Dr. Steinberg examined Basil. You can tell she likes animals, and she was very thorough. We didn't yet have a regular vet when we arrived, so we're glad to say we'll be back for both cats' annual visits. Read Less

So I was recommend to see Dr Alex Adler.  Brought my puppy to her last week and she was truly excellent as was the staff and we left happy with a follow up to see her father the following week for suture removal as she was on vacation. Otto is a Doberman and his ears are cropped.  When my wife brought the dog back 7/9/18, Dr Wagner came in to see the dog. It's a great thing I was not there.  She was clearly agitated over the cropping of the ears.   Get over it doc, it's breed standard and your views mean shit to me.  It's my dog and you work at my pleasure, well you did but never again.   After a spirited discussion with my wife she agreed to remove the sutures and then gave every possible wise ass bitchy response to questions ranging from proper food amounts.   Her response "read the bag" to wound care "call the vet who cut the ears".  She was a useless nasty opinionated ignorant person who owes my wife and puppy an apology.   I called and told the staff to clearly mark my chart that person is not allowed to ever see my animal or me.   I would rather let my dog die in front of her as opposed to deal with her ever again.   The facility is fantastic and Dr Alex Adler was great but trust me stay far away from Wagner Read Less

I have only used this group twice but can honestly say they are my go-to vets going forward. Dr. Steinberg is wonderful, she listens and answers all your questions. The staff is super friendly and so helpful. They even do home visits!!! I highly recommend this practice. Read Less

ZERO STARS . I would not even be rating this place as a one star except you have to rate it as something! Hands down the absolute worst place I have ever bought one of my pets too. I took my Dog in on Saturday because he was not doing well. He was clearly in pain and uncomfortable. When I took him in, the Doctor on hand was grumpy and had no interest in taking care of my dog. He was extremely rude and actually had the nerve to say nobody wants to stay past Noon on a Saturday. Instead of taking his time to examine my dog. He also told me that my dog was fine and nothing was wrong with him. I was charged $65 for a visit that consisted of NOTHING!! I wound up in Emergency Care in Redbank later that evening. He did not examine my dog properly. Thank God I took him to Emergency care. I would not be comfortable bringing my dog into a place who actually cares very little about the well being of my pet and is more concerned about going home for the day. I would never recommend this place to anyone. I bought my dog in based on the reviews as I've been searching for a good place to bring both my dogs. Clearly I made a huge mistake. We recently brought our Pit Bull in for a Basic Check up, We had the pleasure of being served by Dr. Laura Wagner, she was very knowledgeable, Pleasant and answered all of our questions, and we liked being able to get such great care for our Big boy Rocco, I would recommend them to anyone, I will however mention that they did quote me more than double the price of a neuter as compared with another specialist clinic that only Spays and Neuters in New Jersey, Not sure Why the cost was so much higher, also I did have to call to see about our dogs blood tests results, it would have been nice to have been contacted when they were in. Otherwise like i said a very clean and pleasant place with a very professional staff, we will most definitely be using them for all our other Veterinary needs(except the Neutering do to it being twice the price). I've been to the Woodbridge Veterinary Group twice, and plan to continue using them as my main veterinary provider. The doctors are all friendly and attentive, the front desk staff is helpful with paperwork and scheduling appointments, and the location is convenient - right in the center of Woodbridge off a major street. They do have an at-home visiting vet as well, for senior or scared pets. I haven't used this service but met the vet and she was friendly.I'm not sure how prices compare to other vets, but for 2 cats a general check up with 2 shots cost around $250. I do not have pet insurance.I really love the staff here - they take their time in explaining different diseases and treatment options, they answer all questions and don't rush you out the door. They also handle the pets with care and compassion, and they really put their health above everything else.The office is open and you will interact with other animals, including the birds and some fish/reptiles that remain in the office full time. Disgusting and unprofessional. The dr who owns this facility is rude.  My cane corso sprained her ankle and was in pain. Took the dog and the doctor says "why would anybody get a dog like this? I don't want her in my office again." My pup was muzzled and in pain. How unprofessional to question why we would get An animal as big as our pup. Did absolutely nothing for her. I wanted to let the General Public know that I hold  Woodbridge Veterinary Group personally responsible for loss on my cat Molly. Molly was prescribed medication for what was said by Dr. Alex Adler as a Minor Respiratory issue. Within 30 minutes of giving Molly this medication she went into Respiratory Distress and passed away at the Emergency Vet. The last 45 minutes of her life were spent screaming in pain, deficating on herself, and panting horribly. Dr. Adler NEVER discussed possible side affects of the medication and told my wife, "Give her this it can't hurt her." The next morning we went to see Dr. Adler and Dr. Barry Adler was there and his overall demeanor was horrible, show Absolutely No Compassion or Sympathy. Shrugging his shoulders saying, " Well these things happen." His Callous behavior took My Wife into further Hysterics. His Overall feelings were basically Too Bad and well it was only a cat. He does not deserve to carry the License of a Doctor and Vertinarian.  In the last 2 weeks My Wife and I have heard from over 2 dozen people that have similar experiences with Dr. Adler's and his group.If you Love Your Pet Please seek a Veterinary Group that Cares. We LOVE this vet. We have seen all of the vets in the group and they are all wonderful and true animal lovers. Our dog needed a very difficult heart worm treatment that is a long process. Woodbridge Vet made the whole experience so comfortable for our pretty nervous rescued dog and ourselves.  After needing to do overnight stays and the long treatment our dog Doc still walks in every time excited to see everyone. Very disappointing. Took my dog to see Dr. Barry Adler due to he was in pain because he has arthritis .Dr Adler refused to treat him today because as he says the dog growled . It's obvious the dog gonna growl he's in pain . Not to mention that he has treated him before  and I always have a muzzle. Maybe he perceived me to possibly be Muslim do to my beard which I never had as long before . I just don't get it because I've taken both my dogs here and in fact he did a surgery on my other dog .  Well back then I had a very close beard . But today just felt different from the initial entrance of the doctor to the room . With all the other doctors in this place why not offer another doctor or another place to go . I got my kitten from someone who had picked it up from their back yard because it was left behind by it's mother. I immediately took it to Woodbridge Veterinary Group for a physical and they took the kitten in right away. The vet was very loving and kind and told me the kitten was in good health and good to be taken home. I brought the kitten back for a 2nd physical and shots and the same vet remembered my kitten and complimented at how nicely she was growing. They are good at sending you reminders for appointments. I had a wonderful experience with the people at Woodbridge Veterinary. I recently had to have my pet lovebird put down at the age of 19. When I called the vets, the lady who answered was very kind, and when I asked the cost, she found out, and told me it would be $30 for the euthanasia and $85 for an exam before the bird was put to sleep. This sounded very reasonable, as I supposed the exam must be done to ensure they are not putting a healthy bird to sleep, and the bird had not been abused. When I arrived, they were very carrying and understanding in the moment, knowing the emotion pet owners go through when having to make this ultimate move of compassion. Everyone in the office was outstanding, from the front office workers to the vet herself. She asked if she could take Rosie back to another vet to take a look at, and I assume this was the pre-exam, and she came back in a couple minutes with the bird. Rosie had always been very healthy, but when I woke up one day, she had suffered a stroke or something, and was just spinning on the bottom of the cage, unable to move her left side wing, and her left leg was in a horrible position, and grasping her wing bending it into an unnatural position.I knew this was an involuntary act, and feared she could grab and and do horrible damage to her left eye if I didnt hold her every second. While at the office, the vet told me in detail everything that would happen after the needle was given to Rosie, and let me hold her as she took her final breaths. Afterward, when I went out front to pay before leaving with Rosie, they let me take her home to bury, I was told the cost, and pleasantly surprised they had not charged for the exam. I assume they saw the condition of the bird and knowing the age, a few years past the normal lifespan, knew the bird was in no condition to try to bring back with medical care, and had lived a good life. On a scale from 1 to 10, I would have to say that Rosie and I received 10 treatment from the initial contact, until I left the office. Thank You from the bottom of my heart, Dr. Alexandra Adler. I just left your office a few moments ago and promised to give a rave review. I live in the Clara Barton section of Edison and around 10am this morning, I was heading to the Garden State Parkway for an appointment. There in the busiest intersection of Amboy Ave and Woodbridge Ave. was a little kitten. At first I thought it was a baby squirrel. I quickly jumped out of my car and put it in my SUV. I drove to my vet and was shocked by their comment and refusal to help. I called the Edison Animal Shelter and got the same treatment. I was in a panic. I had to get to my appointment but had to save this kitty. I brought it to my neighbor's house and all day she tried feeding it wet food and water. It wouldn't take anything. It seemed so frightened and we were concerned it would need hydration. She called her vet, your group. I was willing to pay to get this kitty hydrated at the very least. What compassion Dr. Adler and her front desk staff had. They took the kitty in. I started crying tears of joy and hugged Dr. Adler. I now found my new vet. Lack of GenerosityMy small dog was in pain due to an ingrown paw nail. I told the veterinarian I was unemployed and asked for a courtesy discount. I reminded the veterinarian that over the last 3 months my other dog and cat had been sick and were treated by this veterinary group costing over $500 dollars. I did not receive a discount. I was even charged an additional $15 dollars for wound care. I am very disappointed. I wish that I was informed of the fee before treatment was administered. My dog received a very expensive antibiotic, Convenia costing $64 dollars The veterinarian completely disregarded my financial hardship. Read Less

Dr. Barry Adler is an amazing guy with a true passion and love for what he does. My albino red eared slider had a prolapsed penis as a result of a birth deformity. My only option for him to live a normal life was to have his penis amputated. I first went to Oradell Animal hospital since it's 10 minutes from home and was quoted 600$ for the surgery. After meeting with 2 different doctors there it was clear that they didn't have much experience with turtles and they were also in it for the money. My two 15 minute visits ended up totaling $340. Dr. Barry Adler at Woodbridge Veterinary Group was recommended to me by Chris Leone of Garden State Tortoise and even though he's an hour away from where I live, I will definitely make the trip to him every time. Dr. Adler was very compassionate and understanding from the get go, he told me that he would do the surgery for 100$. I was so overjoyed to hear that price, I didn't think I would be able to afford the surgery. It was not about the money at all with him, it was very easy to see that he was in it for the well being of my turtle. He performed the amputation and it was very complicated because of the deformity. He monitored Pierogi afterward for 15 days to make sure that he was healing and that he was eating and able to go to the bathroom. 15 days later, I came to pick up my little boy from Dr. Adler and he stayed true to his price. No extra charges for antibiotics, no extra charges for monitoring him for 15 days! My turtle and I are very lucky to have found Dr. Adler & Woodbridge Veterinary Group. Thank you for giving Pierogi a chance at a full life!! You really bent over backwards with the amount of effort you put in and I am blown away and beyond grateful!Read Less

The staff is great! Very friendly. The facility is clean and updated with some feathered and scaled friends who live in the lobby. My first visit was to get a referral for some complex dental needs for my dog and they didn't even charge us for the time, which was very generous. I brought that dog back for pre-op bloodwork as well as vaccines and an exam for both her and my second dog and felt that the exam was thorough and the total cost was reasonable for services provided. I was very happy to have had my rabbit CinnaBunn taken care of by Dr. Lauren Wagner. She was great and caring. There was a picture of CinnaBunn being held by Dr. Lauren on the Facebook page for Easter a few years ago. Everyone I encountered there was nice and helpful. Woodbridge Veterinary Group participates in Friends of Animals low-cost spay and neuter program so I brought my new cats here.   There was no feeling of cut-rate care, they included the antibiotics at no additional charge, and their staff assisted with my insurance forms since I needed to provide proof that the spay and neuter did occur. Our family took our 11 year old poodle, suffering from dehydration, to Woodbridge Veterinary Group two weeks ago, our first visit here. Dr. Alex Adler and staff took excellent care of our dog - both Doctor and staff were very nice and caring. Wait time was minimal, much to our surprise, as the W.V.G features a full attentive staff. We also enjoyed seeing their beautiful aquarium in the waiting room. We've never received this high level of care at a veterinarian's office before. I just want to thank everyone at the Woodbridge Veterinary Group. I was away from my home vet hospital and traveling with my cat when he took ill. I called and they said to bring him in right away. Everyone was wonderful, kind and professional. It didn't matter that I had never been there before. You could really tell they cared for not only the animals but the owners as well. Everyone at Woodbridge Veterinary Group has been so kind, caring and accommodating to my dog, Chyna. They treat her as if she is one of their own. She dislikes the examination table and all the vets have been willing to conduct the exams on the floor when Chyna has had enough of the table. REPTILE/EXOTIC: Dr. Brian Civatte was absolutely great. I called and needed an urgent appointment for my leopard gecko. She has been off-food for weeks. Dr. Civatte went through all the possibilities of what could be wrong with our girl. He offered to run a stool test, x-ray, or blood work. We opted to take the stool test and Dr. Civatte gave us a prescription for a de-wormer, an antibiotic, and Critical Care ( a food supplement). He was kind and showed affection for my girl, complementing on how beautiful her eyes are (they look like a alligator's) He showed genuine care for my girl and I will always return to him when she needs to be seen. He is an awesome exotics vet and takes the time to make sure you understand your pet and how they should live. Read Less

Not specialists, unwilling to admit it. Our cat was a patient for three years. At first we were very happy with his care and the overall service. However it became clear that he was a special case. The vets at Woodbridge may be good doctors but they are not specialists. We trusted the Woodbridge vets to help him, and if they couldn't, to tell us that we should seek a second opinion. There is no shame in that. Sadly the underlying problem presented itself too late. Two days after a visit to Woodbridge, in which the doctor dismissed our concerns about our cat's constant purring, we rushed our cat to the emergency vet in respiratory distress. An xray showed he had a collapsed lung and fluid in his chest cavity. We were referred to a specialist hospital, and a cardiologist did an EKG and discovered that our cat had advanced heart disease. Surgery to repair his collapsed lung was not an option. With broken hearts we made the impossible decision to end his suffering and he passed away in our arms.To add insult to injury: about a month after our cat's death, we received an automated reminder for the next blood test from Woodbridge. When we called them about it - giving the benefit of the doubt that perhaps they hadn't received the final report from the specialist hospital - the receptionist got defensive and testy with us. We don't wish any ill upon the vets at Woodbridge, however we wish that they would have advised us to seek specialized care sooner. Nothing can bring our wonderful kitty back to us, but if we can help other pet parents avoid this kind of heartbreak then maybe he won't have died in vain. For routine visits, they are fine doctors. For difficult or specialized cases, get a second opinion. Read Less
