Acequia Animal Hospital

Albuquerque, New Mexico
General Info
Acequia Animal Hospital in Albuquerque delivers veterinary services through a blend of dynamic movement and serene stillness. In New Mexico, this clinic stands out as one of the rare facilities that manages to adjust its operations smoothly in response to changes in animal postures. The session starts with spatial reading where observers note how pets anchor their weight along with the frequency of their eye movements and the stability or hesitation in tail motion. Staff members adjust their positions according to these readings by standing diagonally when direct approaches cause tension while using pauses instead of vocal cues when animals display over-attunement. The initial set of tools remains stationary yet visible to pets which helps them become accustomed to the environment before any interaction starts. Acequia Animal Hospital delivers integrative diagnostic services alongside surgical consultations while offering pain tracking methods and sensory response treatments together with structured mobility rehabilitation programs. Every treatment modifies itself during real time performance. A pet's flattened posture and redirected gaze prompts a return to anchoring techniques which involve patterned movements or rhythmic steps to restore calm. Owners get aftercare plans focusing on visual and tactile pacing which show how to extend hands in side arcs and when to add movement contrast while guiding routine reentry using visual anchors. Post-visit behavior remains stable without unnecessary spikes while home care routines maintain their usual steadiness. Acequia Animal Hospital delivers a unique experience for families in Albuquerque and pet owners across New Mexico by providing medical care intertwined with adaptive interaction through silent signals and responsive pacing.

I’ve been bringing my dogs to Acequia for years! From puppies up until their time was up. We’ve always been treated professionally and my animals have always been given great care! Over the years we’ve seen every vet and met every vet tech as one of my dogs is a frequent flier there! Their care and compassion far exceeds other places I’ve been. Although they are all great, Beth (vet tech) is one of my favorites! She treats my dogs as her own. I work in the health care field myself and I know it can be easy to become desensitized, but I’ve never felt like this with this great staff at Acequia! My only issue I usually have is the receptionist is pretty rude and lacks customer service skills, sometimes she seems bothered when I call to make appointments. I much prefer to deal with the vet techs over the phone, however, I won’t let her and her poor attitude stop me from bringing my animals to the ones who work behind the scenes and treat my dogs so well! I have been a loyal customer of this vet for 10 years. They are expensive but had good service (originally). I used to get after-care calls directly from the vet. Over the past two years they have employed people that could care less about me or my two dogs whose care I have entrusted with them. My final recent visit I paid over 500 dollars for vaccines and blood work. Shortly after bringing my dog home, she became very ill. My wife called to talk to the Vet, Holly. Instead she was rudely instructed by a receptionist named Janice to try collecting a urine sample. I found it unacceptable that we could not talk directly to our vet. I called back and talked to a vet tech who gave me different instructions. I sternly told the tech I wanted to talk directly with Holly and asked for a call back. I was told the doctor would call me back shortly. Three hours later, Janice the receptionist called me back to tell me the doctor would not talk to me over the phone and hung up on me. Ten years and more than likely 10,000 plus dollars were spent with them. I referred countless friends and family to this vet. I feel terrible for my dog and for the people I sent their way. They made my dog sick and they could care less. Please avoid them; they are expensive and have terrible customer service, and when they make a mistake they will ignore you so they can be rid of you. Shame on this vet clinic. Because of neglect, I now have to pay far more money to help my dog at a different vet. Read Less

It is with much disappointment that I'm leaving a one star review. I took my standard poodle to Acequia the end of June for what I suspected was a UTI. Sure enough, after blood work and urine sample it was confirmed. I received antibiotic medication and some anti inflamitories and was asked to bring in a urine sample a week later. UTI now had red blood and some cells that concerned the doctor. I was told it could be a bladder stone or cancer. No xrays were taken. A cul...ture was sent out - results insignificant - by now I'm up to $400 - charged for each urine sample - a culture and no answers except it could be a stone or cancer (again). After being referred to a specialist for an ultrasound, to the tune of an additional $750 for results and exam. I called two doctors, and both asked me the same question. Did Acequia take an x-ray. No. they did not. Meanwhile a month has passed and my dog is still having difficulties. I decided to see Dr. Hudgell, at Petroglyph Animal Hospital, my dogs original doctor. Upon his examination and urine test, he didn't see all the red blood, Acequia was mentioning, but he did see a boat-load of white blood cells - he took an xray which showed a large bladder stone. She had surgery two days later and is now doing fine. Had the x-ray been taken on the first appointment, I'm sure I would have saved at least a few hundred dollars, and my dog would have been spared a month of pain and discomfort. I will not be going back. See More Read Less

Called to get an appointment an hour after they opened, on Saturday January 2, 2016, for my dog that has cancer and wanted them to take a look at him to discuss options and give him something to make him more comfortable. Our regular Vet was closed, so we searched for an emergency clinic and Acequia came up. Our Springer has been sick since Thursday and no one was open. So we waited until this morning (Saturday) and called Acequia. They brushed us off, said they were completely full, clearly did not want to accommodate us or even take a look at our dog. They referred us to the Montgomery emergency clinic, which is 20 miles away. So, we have to wait until Monday when our Vet opens. I've been taking my dogs to Dr. Holland and staff since 2008 and I have to say that even years after my first meeting with they are still nice as can be. Dr. Holland is our favorite and is always down to earth and willing to answer any question. She is kind to my dogs and to us.  Dr. Grey is great too and is our second favorite if Dr. Holland isn't available. Abby and Trea are also both great staffers...they even know my dogs by name just when they see them (that's without cheating and looking at the appt book).  I also just added a new dog to the family and took him to see Dr. Holland....she was great with him.

Best Vet clinic in town in my humble opinion! Read Less
