Everyone is so friendly and so understanding. I have a lot of confidence in their knowledge. They seem to really care and will do what is best for your pet and family. They don't seem like they are out to charge you the most expensive procedure, but what is best for you pet. Read Less

We started taking our two dogs to Desert Hills a few years ago when we moved to the NE part of town. They have helped us with porcupine quill removal, general checkups, and immunizations. Most recently, one of our dogs developed a strained ACL, and her knee was causing her lots of pain. We saw Dr. Jennifer Vigil Smith and it was by FAR the best experience I have ever had at a vets office. She was patient, knowledgeable, compassionate, and thoroughly explained all of our options. I highly recommend Desert Hills! We were incredibly lucky to find this clinic! In comparison with other clinics, Desert Hills is always quiet and relaxing, which puts the animals at ease. Both Veterinarians and the staff are knowledgeable, professional, caring, took the time to answer all of our questions, and made both of our pups feel comfortable. Any time I call with questions, I get a call back within a few hours or definitely before the day ends. All labs we've had thus far, we received the results and a thorough explanation as soon as they come in. Our small Chihuahua mix is just terrified of going to the Vet and usually has panic attacks. When we brought her into this office the vet sat on the floor with her and checked her out where she was most comfortable. Her dental cleaning went smoothly and the staff went out of their way by spending the day cuddling with our pup and making her feel as comfortable as possible. This place was decent. We were able to be seen the first time and able to get in quickly. However the second time we had an urgent/emergency with our puppy they were not able to accommodate him. We had to go to another vet in town (who is our puppy's primary vet clinic now). We will be not going back to Desert Hills Animal Clinic. Absolutely amazing!!!! I live an hour and a half away from this clinic and i chose this one over all of the others.They took such great care of my American Pit bull terrier! The vet made me very confident in her abilities and my girl loves her vet (even after they spayed her). I will be coming back to this vet as long as I'm in New Mexico! Read Less

Dr. Smith and Dr. Williams are wonderful! We brought our dog Sammy there when he needed some stitches removed from a dog attack and his sutures didn't take. They gave us professional advice, and referred us to an emergency clinic for another surgery. He went back to Desert Hills to get his stitches removed, and luckily for us we haven't needed their services since for him! The women at Desert Hills are great with my pets. We picked up a stray and they made sure it had all its proper tests and shots, asked us how it was getting along with the other animals, and discussed the best way to move forward (particularly with shots) if we are going to keep it indoors. Being new to Albuquerque I was nervous about finding a good vet for my puppy. I saw all the reviews about Desert Hills and figured I would give them a try. They were excellent!! I highly suggest this clinic to anyone! The prices are reasonable and they were so good with my dog! Dr. Smith and her team have provided excellent care for our dogs for years! Just recently we had to put our 14 year old lab down. Dr. Smith was the most gentle, warm and reassuring presence for us during this difficult time. She even sent a hand written card of condolence afterwards. Desert Hills is fabulous. I took my elderly dog to them and they managed to clip all of her nails without hitting the quick, which had been a big problem for us at other places. Unfortunately, she passed a few weeks ago. I recently adopted another dog from the ABQ shelter, and the poor thing is still pretty terrified of people and reacting aggressively. I warned them about it in advance and they started throwing treats to her literally from the minute she walked in the door. By the time we had left, she was friendly with two techs and the vet! They also encouraged me to bring her by for more treats, anytime. I know a lot of places would have just muzzled her and got on with it, but they really took their time to help with her issues rather than to traumatize her further, and I'm very thankful for that. My only wish is that their hours were expanded a bit as unfortunately when my elderly dog got sick I ended up taking her to a vet open on weekends and then the emergency clinic right before she passed, and I feel things would have went better for both her and I if I could have brought her to Desert Hills.Read Less
