I have driven past the Rio Bravo Veterinary Hospital weekly, always thinking to take my cats there, and the need to visit came. The waiting room is spacious and very neat/clean, as well as the examination rooms. The staff is friendly and the appointment was on time. My cat, who is usually scared of new faces and places was unusually comfortable and loved all the attention she received from the nurse and the doctor (I was as well). It was nice and reassuring to have the nurse and doctor speak of their pets. I trust my Kitty's instinct to now make this her (and her brother's) permanent vet. I did have to visit again the following week and had the same experiences. I also felt that the office fee was competitive to other vets I have gone to on the past, but overall my kitty and I loved the care and service we received. Read Less

I took my dog in today for what I thought was an ear infection. It wasn't what I thought and I am extremely happy to say this was a great experience with Dr. Mazzolini. She was amazing, very helpful, made sure I understood what was going on and best of all she was amazing with my dog! Everybody was very helpful and extremely nice, makes Me wish I remembered the names of everyone I met so I could mention you by name but you all know who you are. Each time I've been here the care has been incredible. Two weeks ago, my dog was seriously, suddenly injured by a horse. I called to see if they could help out while I was driving to go get him. They saw him right away and saved me half the cost of going to the pet ER. They were thorough and called several times after we came home. I highly recommend this clinic! Read Less

The front desk is friendly and very professional and the doctors are conservative about treatments and love to research tough cases ( my dogs usually have tough conditions to diagnose it treat). I had took my dog to a vet cause he had a hurnia by his privets that vet told me I had to put my dog down. So I had made a call to the hospital. The staff were awesome. The Dr had told me that they have to do surgery. My dog came out fine and now he is running around being his old self. I am very great full for the staff and the Dr who did my dogs surgery. Excellent Vet! it helps that this vet is very close to my house so it's very convenient in my day to day live. My sister lives in my same neighborhood, our experiences with this vet have been the same. My sister has a rabbit that developed an eye infection they were able to take care of admittedly an exotic animal without any issue. Our old lady Chihuahua needed all of her teeth removed and this vet was more then willing and able to take care of my 12 year old chihuahua. They keep an emergency appointment slot open, so they can usually squeeze you in if there is a need. When our Old man cat Fatty entered into massive organ shutdown we found him and my wife rushed him down the road yelling at the poor counter person that the cat was dying they they scootted my wife into the exam room and a doctor was right there. Doctor explained that unless my wife wanted to attempt some massively heroic measures it was time for Fatty to be put to sleep. my crying wife left the office and we buried fatty in the yard. two days later my wife asked if i had paid the vet, i phoned them and paid them over the phone thanking them again for taking care of fatty and not bothering my wife about a payment when the cat she has had in her life longer then she has had me passed away.These folks will continue to be my go to vet for the foreseeable future, they are such an asset to the neighborhood. I've been to Rio Bravo Vet Hospital several times. Every time I go, they make me feel like my dog is special. Everybody is friendly. I love that they don't appear to overbook appointments as I have been seen timely at every visit. When my dog had knee surgery they called the next day to make sure she was doing okay. When I arrived home from my July 4th vacation, twelve of my twenty chickens were in trouble or dead. My dog was unattended and had dug under the fence. He killed six hens and badly damaged six others. My vet, Dr. Patricia Mazzolini of Rio Bravo Veterinary Hospital, offered to try to save the hens that weren't too badly wounded. They were given very good care and two of them lived through their ordeal. I appreciate all the help from the staff and doctors at Rio Bravo Vet Hospital.I also have three dogs and two cats who always receive excellent care when they need to visit this business. Read Less

Have been bringing my pets to the Rio Bravo Clinic for 15+ years. I have recieved excellent care for my pets on every occassion. Sometimes the bill was more than I would admit spending on an animal, but I was the one who kept authoriziing the treatment for my pet and every time they sent me home with a healthy pet. Face it we love our pets and we will spend money to keep them healthy and happy. A good Vet is hard to find and keep, I am glad I have one at Rio Bravo. Read Less

In 40 years of having pets and therefore having the pet/vet experience, I can honestly say this is the WORST vet clinic I've ever experienced. I am so angry at myself for bringing my cat there! My hubby and I had to take a 5-day work trip, so we boarded our 1.5 year old cat here. We also asked them to give our cat his rabies vac, and other shots needed annually. We also asked them to give him a general health checkup since he was there, and finally, asked that their groomer give his nails a clip. When we dropped our cat off, we brought one of his blankets he likes to sleep on, and one of his own toys, to help him feel some of home there. Our cat was very healthy, happy, well groomed (had just given him his monthly spa bath the day before) and loving when we dropped him off. When we picked him up 5 days later, he was listless, slight temperature, and sneezing a lot, and he stunk like he had been living in a pile of cow manure while there. Literally, he stunk badly like a cow patty. He had lost weight (3.5 lbs) while there, for which the clinic didn't have an answer. When asked why he stunk so badly, they said he had been sleeping in his litter box the whole time, like he was trying to ""hide from us"". First of all, litter doesn't smell like cow manure, so that doesn't accout for the smell. Second, our cat has never done anything like that when boarded before, and he loves to be around people and other animals don't bother him. Third, the clinic couldn't care less about returning our beloved pet to us smelling like he did. Not even an ""I'm sorry"" or offer to give him a bath... just no caring whatsoever. They actually wouldn't even acknowledge how bad he smelled, although everyone else outside the clinic did. Our friends, family, neighbors, and our regular groomer all noticed the smell and commented on it, and on how listless and sad he seemed. That and that he was sneezing so much. To try to shorten the story, after a couple of phone calls back to Rio Bravo Vet Clinic during which they tried to tell us nothing was wrong with him, and his health checkups showed him in good health, we had to take our cat back there and have them examine him again at no cost for the re-exam. This time, they told us that he ""probably"" has a virus, and that he had an impacted tooth that needed to be pulled. When asked why this wasn't mentioned when we picked him up, they said they didn't notice it! So they wrote prescriptions and left it at that. We did not fill the prescriptions, as we intended to have a second and/or third opinion from other vets. Still no believable explanation about the cow manure smell. The next day we took our cat to 2 other vets to have him checked, and both the other vets agreed that there was nothing wrong with our cat's teeth, that in fact the gums and teeth were in good condition. And they said he had a chest cold, with slight temp, for which they gave him a shot and a prescription which we need to administer twice a day for a few days. That was yesterday, and our cat is already feeling better, and I have no doubt by the time his prescription is used up, he'll be just fine. As for Rio Bravo Vet Clinic, I would never recommend them, as I have serious doubts about the cleanliness of their boarding area, and therefore the clinic as a whole, and there was a very real lack of caring about our pet's health and well-being. And their ability to give a sound, trained, educated health exam/diagnosis was non-existent in our case. And to suggest a procedure (tooth removal) not needed at all makes me wonder if they're in business to provide health care for animals or to make money with unnecessary procedures. When I think of what our cat must have gone thru during his time with them... it brings tears to my eyes. Yes, I can understand why he might have wanted to 'hide from' them. Horrible, horrible clinic. Dr. Stone and Dr. Slack should be ashamed. Read Less
