Rio Grande Animal Hospital

Albuquerque, New Mexico
General Info
The Rio Grande Animal Hospital extends its veterinary services to pet owners throughout Albuquerque and nearby New Mexico areas through a method that emphasizes partnership combined with careful observation and distinct progress markers. The first visits involve environmental adjustment where pets become accustomed to the room's sounds light and layout. From the initial entry point veterinarians monitor an animal's gait alongside its social responsiveness while noting hesitation zones and examining breath rhythms together with tactile reactivity. Examinations of physical health include evaluations of coat condition, hydration status, gum pigmentation, limb functionality, joint responsiveness, abdominal firmness, and muscle stability. The intake process reaches completion through owner feedback by examining recent appetite changes alongside grooming routines and shifts in interaction patterns with vocalization trends which together direct subsequent actions. Rio Grande Animal Hospital provides a range of structured services that include lab panels dental procedures surgical prep and recovery age-adjusted diagnostics and preventative wellness mapping. Detailed explanations accompany each service milestone while visual progress tools support multi-visit plans. The team assists owners in interpreting body language throughout recovery while identifying behaviors that indicate readiness or resistance which makes home care more intuitive. Behavioral benchmarks rather than simple calendar dates determine follow-up visit scheduling. Owners should monitor observable changes such as sleep cycles, eye contact duration, surface preferences, and mobility gradients to provide contextual information during each return check-in. The system guarantees decision-making processes proceed with unwavering assurance and persistent flow. Rio Grande Animal Hospital delivers a clinical partnership to pet families throughout Albuquerque and New Mexico which focuses on knowledge patience and visibility to ensure care becomes an active collaboration from the first day.

We've had dogs (and cats, though not for some time) for many years. None of the vets we've had were better. Dr. Delanoy is a rare and caring vet. Many blessings are deserved.

Docs are fine, location is convenient but the counter person is so unpleasant that finally decided I am taking my business elsewhere. Calling or coming in with a sick injured animal is already difficult. When you are 'greeted' with a terse attitude it is just not acceptable. My new veterinarian. Both the vet Hopkins and assistants were gentle, positive, friendly, observant, and slow with my puppy. They didn't rush through the appointment. They took the time to get to know my dog. I felt like Dr. Hopkins was thorough in checking my dog before deciding how to proceed. They didn't push treatment but explained what they thought the problem was and what was needed. Made treatment plan w me. Veterinarian Hopkins followed up w me by phone call. Clean, liked waiting area, ontime w my appointment, friendly staff. No cancellation fee for cancelled appointments (even same day - my experience: 30 minutes till appt.) Open and easy to talk to about cost of treatments. I felt heard, understood and most importantly for a veterinarian clinic, I felt like my puppy was understood and her reactions paid attention to. If in Albuquerque I recommend this vet, especially over the VCA's in abq. Read Less

This vet really needs to re evaluate its practices. Long story short, I was out of town and the family watching my animals told me my cat was sick that evening, so I told them to take it to the vet, so happens to be this Vet. When they go to take him, he had wandered off, no sign of him. He had a microchip, so we posted lost signs, worried that he may be in danger.Well come to find out, a neighbor crazy cat lady and her daughters, found my cat and took him here to Rio Grande animal Hospital. Same place I was having my pet sitters take him.Now every vet I have ever visited in the last 3 years first thing they do is put the animal on the table, check its vitals and scans the animal for a microchip. THIS DID NOT HAPPEN. INSTED THEY WENT WITH THIS LADYS STORY WHAT EVER IT WAS, AND PUT HIM TO SLEEP WITHOUT EVEN CHECKING FOR A MICROCHIP, WHICH IS COMMON PRACTICE, WITH ANY REPUTABLE VET I HAVE VISITED.I care very much for my animals, and would of been happy to pay whatever amount to nurse them back to health.Instead,  this second rate place, did not bother to verify a microchipped,  which is pretty standard practice, and he was put to sleep. Awful place, I am furious, that. 3 second scan would have saved his life. Read Less
