They got us in right away and we’re so sweet and caring with me and my beloved pet!! Lots of vets want to nickel and dime their customers because they know we care so much about our pets. This is not that kind of place. Ventana Animal Clinic took excellent care of our puppy who needed entropion surgery. They discussed different options with me and are incredibly compassionate people. I highly recommend this clinic! Went here to have my pets nails trimmed and get him his vaccinations after moving to Albuquerque from out of state. Our previous vet had no trouble giving him his vaccinations or trimming his nails but at ventana animal clinic they hurt him to the point he was screaming. Our kitty never had any problems with nail trims or vaccinations before, wont take him to Ventana again. Read Less

I was told of this place by a friend, after having had a bad, and expensive experience with VCA. I wish I'd known about them long ago. The techs are all super nice and caring of my wife and I, and our dog Rio. We eventually had to put Rio down and they were extremely courteous, kind and gentle at such a traumatic time for us. Over the last three years that I have been taking them in, despite outliving their life expectancy, their health and quality of life has improved with the help of the Ventana AC Docs. I LOVED my first experience with Ventana!! Dr. Kristin Reger was super thorough and really interested in everything I had to report, and was very interested in figuring out what was going on with out dog. She was upfront about costs, so I could make an informed decision. She's really sweet with the dogs, very calming and very patient, but also very knowledgeable and scientific. Staff was great, and there was a great military discount. Also, they sent me a link for an online pet profile, and upon review, it's extremely well designed and had a summary of tour past visits, tests run, etc. You can also make appointments through that tool, and access an online community of people who also use V entana. Dr. Stowell, is very caring and thorough. We bring our dogs to her because we trust her. In house testing is very accurate and consistent. We had one of our dogs teeth cleaning's done by Dr Stowell and were pleasantly surprised to find that she does the cleaning, not a tech. Office staff is also very nice, polite . Best Vet in town. If you want the best for your pet then this is the place to go!!! My huskey probably didn't have a large chance to live but because we took him here to get the correct care and treatment he is still alive. The most important thing to remember when having a pet is that they're like your children and it is very important to find a vet that will do all they can to make sure your babies are healthy. Best vet clinic I've ever been too. My dog was having seizures and they got him in immediately and put him in a room right away to avoid him stressing from other animals. I was in office from start to end, 40 minutes!!! Very prompt and Thorough. I got blood results via email first thing in the morning and a call shortly after from the dr. They were all so nice and caring and loving to my dog. You could see they care. The office was clean and didn't have a foul odor like other clinics I've been too. Prices were great too. Dr. Heidrich and Dr. Cantos have cared for my pets ( birds, cats Dogs for 30 years) .care and compassion are at the the base of all they do. They are especially great for the geriatric pet. They have helped my older pets have the best quality of life by not only care but educating the pet owner on this stage of my pets life.Last but not least the cost are some of the most reasonable in the area. I would never take a pet here again! Dr. Heidrich cared for my 3 yr old jack Russell for 7 weeks and diagnosed him with a luxating patella ( floating knee cap ) WITH OUT any x-rays, or blood work and gave him strong pain killers for weeks. I originally took him in due to severe dog shaking. In those weeks, he lost 5 lbs, was vomiting massively, and urinating everywhere. I took him in for the so called knee surgery and the VET TECH noticed he was urinating blood. Dr. Heidrich asked me, which leg it was again, he forgot! He was still wanting to do the surgery after a 15 lb dog lost 5lbs. My dog by than was finally given blood tests and was diagnosed with kidney failure and died 3 days later. After reading this site of Dr. Heidrich ' s experience, it states he specialized in orthopedic surgery and pain management. My dog was never observed limping. He helped kill my dog from neglecting to give any tests and I'm guessing that's all he knows. Read Less

The dr was so kind to my cat he's very gentle with her and showed much care and compassion for them. Picked her up and said "come on short stuff". Prices are pretty average. i know my animals are getting the best care they also don't try to charge you for unneeded procedures like some vets in rio rancho. Best vet so far for my animals! I have 2 pit bulls and they have only gone to Ventana Animal Clinic.  The staff are always professional,  polite, and caring. They never discriminate over breeds and are very knowledgeable.  Their pricing is very fair and they seem to be very invested in their patients.  I have and will continue to recommend them to family and friends. This vet is a mixed bag. The techs and desk staff are great. The vet I interacted with, however, influenced my opinion enough to take my pets elsewhere in the future, even if it requires a longer drive.I've had two experiences here: The first time, my fiancé and I had found a dog wandering our block without tags and brought it in to have its chip scanned. The tech that assisted us was wonderful and went above and beyond to help us find the dogs owner, who had not updated the dogs info since moving to New Mexico. This experience prompted me to bring my adult male cats in for an annual check up and shot. Again, the techs were awesome. They were very professional, friendly, and helpful. Then we met the vet. This was as my fiancé dawns moving in with me and bringing another adult male cat into the household. The vet's advice for introducing the cats: be prepared for spraying, because they do that sometimes. And nothing more. She then commented on my cats weight repeatedly after we had stated they were put on a diet in the past two weeks since there was now someone else in the household to help manage the feeding whe I was at work on 24 hour shifts, so they no longer needed to be on autofeeders, and offered no advice when asked.While these quips might seem minor, they just seemed to serve as solid examples of the overall lack of bedside manner and disinterest in adequately meeting the needs of her patients and their owners, but she was very interested in repeatedly offering the $1500+ tooth cleaning package plus anesthesia--in spite of me having stated that one of my two cats had a negative reaction to anesthetics when he was neutered.I have been a health care provider in the metro area for seven years, and it was clear to me that the vet I interacted with at this practice simply didn't care about her approach to patient management and care.That being said, my cats got their check up and shots at a reasonable rate, and the technicians were wonderful. So if you expect nothing more than this, there are worse places to take your pets too. However, if you expect someone who actually cares about your pets needs to be in charge of their health, this might not be the place for you. Read Less

I would not recommend this place, I came in with a hurt dog with open wounds and they advertise themselves as offering "emergency surgery."  Instead of helping us by assisting us with the dog or helping us find another clinic, we were placed in a room for FORTY MINUTES while they popped in and out telling us how busy they were, implying they would assist in finding a less busy location.  Eventually, the front desk vaguely described locations we could try by offering a street name (go to Montgomery, i think they have something there), and complained that the other place would be expensive.  She did not mention the urgent care vet down the street or any nearby vets.It was a very frustrating and time consuming ordeal that could have been solved if they told us outright they would not be able to get in the dog for emergency surgery, and suggesting another reputable vet.My other visits previously with this clinic have been unimpressive, and I am disappointed by the treatment I was given while trying to get help for my dog during an emergency.
