Terrible! I made an appointment for my senior boxer a day in advance. We show up 10 mins early. It took them 15 mins just to check us in. Then we waited 40mins just to get triage and put in a room to wait again. After another 40 mins of waiting, we finally had to walk out without once seeing the vet and without any apologies from the staff. In all, we were left waiting for over one and half hours. My poor, sweet dog was in pain and discomfort so walked out and were able to get an appointment with a much better vet that doesn't keep their clients waiting for hours. Read Less

Very disappointed that the vet (Cole) was too busy to spend time with us regarding our very traumatised cat. We basically dealt with a vet tech (Jessica), who was superb and most helpful in our decisions re tests etc. I have seen Dr. Forsyth a few times with my other cat and he is wonderful, most professional and caring as he should be when it comes to people's pets. On the occasion that I had to speak with another vet tech. her tone was rude, clipped and downright cold. I made her aware of this behaviour and hopes that she took it constructively so she can better deal with people and their pets. She spoke to me as if I was a child and never asked how my cat was doing. Will I ever take my cats there? Only if Dr. Forsyth is available. I do have many other options in the neighbourhood, but many older folks don't. Very sad that one should be treated as if they're doing you a favour. My mistake was I could have gone somewhere else! I have taken my 2 dogs here for over 6 years. My oldest dog (13) was diagnosed by the owner and senior Vet with Cushings disease and put on medication. He stated it was not curable and that I should decide to manage it with 2x daily with meds or make a decision to put her down. She was on meds for over 6 months and lost 18 lbs... good days and bad days. She drinks 10-15 bowls of water a day, barely eats and sleeps most of the day. I finally made the decision to put her down and couldn't get an appt with Dr Forsyth so I made an appt with Dr Cole. My dog was having a good day, so we took her to the park so she would be in good spirits. When we arrived at the clinic, the Technician was rude and stated that I had never seen Dr Cole before which was false and that she would have to authorize the euthanasia. The doctor was rude when she entered the exam room as well. I have spent the last 2 months trying to come to grips with putting my dog down. I spend over 15 hours a day with my pet and I know when the bad days out number the good. I cannot believe the way I was treated today. The recommendation from the doctor was to put her on pain meds. Apparently I can choose to abort a child but not put down a dying dog. Absolutely disgusting! Read Less

My husband and I are truly grateful for this Clinic and all of it's staff. 3 days ago we had a bad experience with Sunrise Veterinary Clinic where they wouldn't take the time to help us put our beloved dog to sleep while they were not even busy. So we tried Cottonwood and I asked the woman at the desk if they could see our dog and explained that his legs are weak and he was losing use along with his other health issues, and she said we could see him in 15 minutes. When we got in the exam room, the assistant laid a blanket on the floor to make our dog comfortable then Dr Mike Forsyth came in and talked to us while he was also making our precious Baron more comfortable and explained to us how the procedure will work. Then Dr Mike Forsyth handled the whole procedure to where our Baron did not suffer and was gone so peacefully. When it was over we never felt rushed, and then whole staff was so very kind and they all told us how very sorry there where. We even received a clay paw print of Baron to keep. Two days later we received such a very nice sympathy card from the whole staff. Read Less

Prior to my scheduled appointment I was told on two occasions it would cost $18.xx to get my dog a rabbis shot. After my appointment I went to pay and I€m told the bill would be $75.xx because when they brought the dog back for her shot they had the vet see her without asking or informing me first. The receptionist refused to escalate my complaint to her boss for a follow up call. I advised I would no longer bring my business there and offered to pay the $18.xx which was refused and I was told they would $0.00 out the balance and not provide the rabbis paperwork. They then call my girlfriend and tell her we are not allowed to bring our dogs back until we pay the $75.xx. I called back and the receptionist denied telling me the account would be $0.00 and again stated her boss would not call me. I am happy to pay the $18.xx I was told the appointment would be and would like someone to call me back about this situation. Read Less

They also quoted us a price to do the procedure and then the night before we were supposed to bring the dog in they called us and increased the price by almost double. If I could give less stars I would. If you want a vet who will scare and guilt you into doing unnecessary procedures in order to charge you 3x more than she should; and let your animal leave in pain without any medicine or anything to help him then go here. However, if you want a vet who will actually take time to look at your animal and cares then go somewhere else like ABQ Petcare. My dog had a growth on his foot. We took him to this clinic on Monday. We had to wait 45 minutes after our appointment to finally be seen. The vet looked at him for 5 minutes and said it was most likely cancer and a very aggressive one because of how fast it grew. She said he needed to have surgery to get it removed. They gave us an estimate of $800-1,000. This was pretty expensive, but after everything she said I was afraid of losing my dog so went along and scheduled the appointment for Friday. My dog had to go the rest of the week limping around and in pain. The evening before the appointment they called and said they gave us a wrong estimate and it would now be $1,400 because they thought they would need to use extra surgical materials and make more stitches to close it up. I told them I didn't think I could afford that much since $1,000 was stretching my budget and I was going to call other vets. I also asked if they could send me the new estimate via e-mail so I could look it over. When they sent the e-mail it was again a different price but a little cheaper (closer to $1,200). However, they then tried to push a teeth cleaner and other unnecessary procedures saying in the long run it would be cheaper. I called my boyfriend crying because I wasn't sure what to do. I hated seeing my dog in pain, but wasn't sure I could afford all of the procedures (Oh yeah because she said if the biopsy came back that it was cancer they would have to do Chemo or amputate his leg). My boyfriend luckily has a Vet who is a friend. After talking with her she said that the price seemed a little steep and to jump straight to cancer was strange. She couldn't see him for a couple weeks, but recommended another vet who could get us in that day. When I took him to her she said it was probably an infection from him stepping on something. She was able to drain the growth and put him on antibiotics and anti-inflammatory medicine that evening (total after everything including a month of antibiotics was $500). It has now been only two days and he is already putting weight on his paw again and moving around like normal. Read Less

I have to say Dr. Cole (not sure about spelling) and her staff were wonderful. I just moved to the area and needed a vet for my newly adopted dachshund mix, who I thought might have a mouth infection or a bad tooth. They were all very friendly, and Dr. Cole was very informative. She went and got some extracted canine teeth from her back area to show me how long the roots are on a dog's tooth, so I could see exactly how deep they go--and helped me understand the associated costs involved with these types of procedures, if there was an extraction needed. What I appreciate more than anything is that she was really nonjudgmental about my concern with costs. She told me she would give me a detailed estimate about the dental procedure so I could consider it at home with my boyfriend--and the estimate was far less than I was expecting. I asked for blood work for my dog and she gave me 3 options (from high to low cost) for that. I told her if they had time they could add on a nail trim service to my visit, or I could bring him back for that if they didn't have time (it being 4 pm on a Friday and they were set to close in an hour and a half) but she said let me see. They actually ended up doing it as a courtesy! Then, although I missed the call and will have to call back Monday, Dr. Cole called at 7:30 pm on a Friday night, 2 hours after closing, to ask me a question about my dog. If that isn't excellent service and a caring vet, I don't know what is. I never write reviews but I had to recommend this place to others. They are wonderful :) Read Less

This vet was wonderful. They made me feel so welcome and they were really gentle and great with my dog. Normally my dog is shy around new people and places, but actually seemed to enjoy his visit. They were genuinely concerned with my pet's health and offered me tips based on the area. For example, heart worm preventative medication was recommended because they have seen more cases than usual this year. They also told me that there were things I could do to help him on my own, such as give him over the counter human allergy medication to help with his fall allergies. They told me what brand and how much to give him and told me it was much more cost effective than the same thing sold at the vet. That was great advice because my dog has been feeling much better!

Read Less

Our good puppy, Bu, moved on last week, dying while on her way to an emergency after-hours visit for help. Drs. Mike and Cole and their wonderful staff had helped her almost from the day our daughter, Sarah, picked her up off thek road at her horse barn in Los Lunas. Fighting one infection after another for the early part of her life, she got a grip on good health and settled down to be one tough walking buddy to Rosie and whomever was strong and brave enough to take them into the Petroglyphs. We miss her tremendously. Thank you everyone at Cottonwood for your good work. Read Less

My girlfriend and I brought our dog in and they completely misdiagnosed his foot abces as cancer. We waited almost an hour to be seen before the vet looked at the dog for maybe 10 minutes. They also quoted us a price to do the procedure and then the night before we were supposed to bring the dog in they called us and increased the price by almost double. I am so glad we took the dog elsewhere otherwise we would have overpaid for a procedure the dog didn't even need. Read Less
