The care and support for our 11 year old dog was wonderful. We had to put her down and the staff were wonderful to her and our family. We would return at any time when care is needed for our other dog

On May 8th of this year our precious Ellie had to go to the ER due to congestive heart failure. On our way to Petroglyph she started aspirating fluid from her mouth and nose. She was literally drowning in her own fluids. We pulled into West Mesa screaming for help and the staff immediately jumped into action caring for our precious angel. Unfortunately, she was too far gone and they helped her complete her journey over the rainbow bridge. I was with her as she completed her life on this plane and the kind staff stayed with both of us caressing her and hugging me. The care, attention and love they showed towards my furbaby as they gently shrouded her leaving her precious face uncovered was an act of care I will never forget. They gave us time and not once did they try to rush us. Even as they billed us they only charged for the meds and nothing else. They are not out for money, they truly care for animals and their "parents". The sympathy card was a thoughtful gesture and I so appreciate everything they did for us. I wish Petroglyph would have been a quarter as caring. Ellie had been their patient and when they were notified of her death they didn't even say,"I'm sorry for your loss "...how cold. I wish West Mesa was available as a regular care clinic, and not just an ER, but any future incidents with my babies will be taken to West Mesa. I just wish I had written this sooner, but tears still come when I write or talk about our precious girl. West Mesa...Thank youRead Less

This has been the greatest of bad experiences "with my four legged friend" I have ever had. So thoughtful, compassionate, and none judgmental, I've ever experienced. They take in animals who have been hit and no one claims, abused and no one takes ownership, just any sick or wounded animal at need at all hours. If you live on the westside or anywhere in Albuquerque after hours for most vet. clinics this is where you should go. If you have yet to find a vet I strongly recommend your vet for everyday care as well. Read Less

If I can give this place ZERO stars, I would!!! I had a friend whose dog had abdominal surgery. The poor dog wasn't supposed to be left home alone but due to a scheduling conflict, his wife had to leave the house for the night and he was at work on the other side of town. My friend went to check on his dog on his lunch break and found that she wasn't doing too well with the incision and should probably have a cone on. It's 11:45pm and of course Walmart has no cones and he lives in Rio Rancho, he calls up West Mesa Animal Emerge and asks if he can buy a cone from them and they tell him "NO", he "CAN NOT BUY A CONE UNLESS THE DOG IS A PATIENT OF THEIRS"!!!!! Really!?!? What kind of emergency animal clinic are you if you aren't able to help in a pinch? Aren't you at all concerned with this dogs welfare/well being? Or is it only when the dog has been previously seen at your clinic? I'm sure you could've charged him $100 for it and he would've paid it out of concern for his dog and convenience. I mean, that's why you opened a 24 hour emergency vet clinic on the west side/Rio Rancho for, was to make money and for convenience, RIGHT? He was asking for a cone collar, not for pain meds... I just don't understand. In the end, he called VCA 24 hour vet care on Montgomery and they happily sold him a cone for his dog. Read Less

Krissie, Autumn and Dr. Taylor went above and beyond to make sure our little pup was taken care of after a bigger dog attacked him. We had to leave Bentley over night and we didn't worry once, but when we called to check up on him, they were all so friendly and happy to update us!
