Unfortunately, I had to use this clinic due to solemn circumstances.  On a Saturday morning we discovered our senior female Akita was bloated and disoriented. I knew immediately that her intestines had twisted and we had to get her to a vet asap. The only clinic I could find with the earliest business hours was southwest animal care. We live in Canutillo so we gently loaded our Akita onto our pickup and drove to Santa Teresa. Upon arriving, I ran in to get help and the staff was quick to take her into an examination room.  We met Dr. J. McKee who quickly assessed our dog and recommended humane euthanasia. He was very gentle with her and allowed us to stay with her until she gently slipped away. They respected our privacy and left us undisturbed until we were ready to go. I appreciated their understanding and empathy. Several parents were there with their "furry babies" and they offered their condolences as well. If this is any reflection of their service, we will definitely consider them to care for our goldie. Read Less

We use them when we have to board our dogs.  The staff is friendly, they seem like genuine animal lovers.  The location, while somewhat out there, is a great location with plenty of space.  Dogs have pools to swim in.  They have vets on site.  For boarding or day care, there are plenty of options such as pool time, snacks, etc.  Staff has no issue with you bringing your own food and being picky with how your little ones are fed, they will accommodate you best they can.One small thing I would change is coverage in the mornings.  Drop offs are heavy in the morning, maybe another person there would help speed things up, sounds like a perfect part time job for someone a few days a week. :-) Read Less

Dropped off our little Gila for a play day. That night we noticed her hair was coming off of her back. The next day blisters all down her back. Our vet suspected she was treated with Flea and Tick liquid. Right now three weeks and she is still conned and we our about $500 in vet bills. Southwest of course denied everything. Brought Gila so they could see what they did. The most I got was that there was a stray dog that looked liked Gila at the clinic at the time but they would never make a mistake. We never authorized them to treat her. Never Again!!! Beware, it's my suspicions they are treating dogs without owner knowledge. Google pics for Dog Flea and Tick treatment burns. HORRIBLE. Took my pet for weekend as we went camping picked him up on sun poor dog came home with diarrhea it looked like he never went outside as I paid for it staff plays favoritism to anglos as like my money is not the same .never will i leave my precious friend with them again .On a lighter note I think it's a good place to take your dog for interaction with other dogs during the day but not to be left over night or for boarding . I have been using Dr. McKee for three years, he has performed two successful knee surgeries on Tillie, my English bulldog, and she has attended doggie day care for three years. I now have a second bullie, Chester, who started day care. EVERY SINGLE STAFF MEMBER is AWESOME. They are attentive, loving, caring. I cannot say enough about this facility, Dr. McKee and his staff. My dog was very happy and in good health when I picked her up, I have NO problem leaving her in SWACC hands. My one little complaint is that I wish they had an overnight person so I could have picked her up a little earlier, as I missed her a lot while I was out of town (and wanted to pick her up asap when my plane landed at 6:30pm). I would like to write a recommendation to anyone who is looking for a safe responsible place to take their pets. The staff is helpful and knowledgeable to assist with all your inquiries. Dr McKee is the bomb (thats awesome to those that dont know!) of a veterinarian! The doggie day care is second to none with the large grassy yards and the swimming pool. Dogs are sooo happy here and it shows! When the dogs go back inside, its like the running of the bulls they are so excited!! They cant wait to get their treat and settle down for a little rest in their perspective runs. Overall, this place is awesome! Bring your dogs here if you want them happy and well cared for! We are not from the area but heard wonderful things about Dr. McKee and his staff at Southwest Animal Care Complex -- so we took our 13 year old Great Dane Mix for a removal of an enormous tumor on his leg. Other places told us our beloved dog may lose his leg if we tried to remove the tumor. We are happy to report our dog had a successful surgery and is walking around just fine. Dr. McKee and his team did a great job in making us feel comfortable during such a stressful situation for our family. We value his surgical experience and expertise! For the long weekend left of two dogs for the first time. They came home clean and happy. Great kennel and our dogs loved Dailey walks and hamburgers. My only compliant was that they had everyone pick up their pets in a half an hour window and the staff was overwhelmed. But definitely will use again when we need to go out if town. They were safe and well cared for and that's a huge piece of mind when on vacation and I personally felt even better knowing a vet is always there to handle anything that might come up. Read Less

Worst Place EVER!! I took my pet there because it had been hit by a car. After paying so much $$ & taking it back twice. I had to get care from another vet so that my pet could get decent care. After complaining to Dr. McKee he became very upset. & gave a lame excuse for the treatment given to my pet. You can clearly see that they do have a race preference. When I first walked in the staff was really rude & looked at me as if I would not be able to pay for emergency care for my pet simply because I am HISPANIC. I've taken our dog here 5 x for boarding. I continue to go back b/c our dog does well here! Never had a problem and really like that they have a Vet on duty if needed. You can pay extra for play time and they keep the small/big dogs separated during this time which is very important. I'm a critic and if its not right I won't board my dog somewhere. She is a rescue who had a VERY hard life for 6 years until we got her and rehabilitated her. If she is in a stressful environment we know immediately b/c she regresses. This has never been an issue since boarding her at the SW Animal Care Complex. That tells me all! She also eats while there (if she is stressed she won't eat) and when we pick her up she's ready to come home but not freaked out. I recommend this kennel and as a military family we have had to go through a lot of kennels b/c we move so much. Read Less

This place is terrible. I paid a lot of extra money to have my dog walked and to have play time. When I picked her up her elbows were red and raw like she'd been in a crate for a week without the bed I brought for her. I think that this is a wonderful place for are furry friends. There is daycare , pool , hand walking and grilled chicken for the dogs, 3 caring vets and techs to take care of there needs and there is grooming to be offered to the dogs so they can go home happy, clean and smelling fresh. Reading the negative reviews and I am surprised. I live in Santa Teresa and pass there daily. The dogs, when they are out, are having a fun time. My dog, Steeler, loves it there. Kane, well, he's not very sociable and prefers to stay home. But each time when we pick them up, both dogs are clean and happy. I've been taking my dog, Leo, for years to SWACC and I have never had one problem. The staff is very efficient, although sometimes during rush hour it can be a little backed up. Leo has always been very well-cared for and they have staff that supervise the dogs all day. Leo's been boarded and he goes to day care. There is a list of services offered (and the price for each service) while your dog is boarded, so you choose what you want before you drop your pet off. I've been to many dog boarding places and this is the best all around. Leo loves going and I feel comfortable leaving Leo. I highly recommend them. Read Less

I recently boarded my 6yr old blue stafford terrier at SWACC. The receptionist was rude and the staff kept my dog in a cage for the entire 6days after they had decided not to allow him out for play time.. I paid an extra 16$ a day to make sure he gets out of his cage. They did not walk him or let him out the entire time he was there. He came back smelling awful and looking really skinny. I recently boarded my puppy with SWACC and took in a bottle of medication that had been prescribed by my vet. When I picked him up they returned my bottle of meds that had one pill left. When I got home and went to give my dog his medication I noticed it was NOT the medication my vet had prescribed. SWACC had been giving my pet some random medication from who knows where, that I had not been informed of ,nor had approved. I plan on suing them immediately. DO NOT board your pet here!!! Read Less

Inhumane animal conditions. Horrible and Expensive. In June I took my 2 cats to board them for 12 days. When I took them in, I went in the back to place them in their cage, which was a 2x2x8 with some small triangular metal shelves. These are two adult cats, they could not lay on those metal shelves or have any space to move around. All that fit was 1 small pillow next to this tiny litter box. My cats litter box at home is larger than this space. I left them there, went home and made other arrangements for them, then went back 2 hours later to pick them up. They were in the same position and spot when I had left them earlier. It is sad and disturbing that this place is actually owned by a veterinarian. If I had left them there, this would have caused muscle and nerve atrophy. Also these living conditions would have caused severe stress and thus illness to my cats. He is NOT CONCERNED about animal safety and well being, but the mighty green dollar! Why did you even waste your time going to vet school? How can the employees sleep at night knowing of the inhumane animal care they provide! Las Cruces has wonderful kennels for cats and more reasonable. I already have a reservation for Christmas. I have taken my two dogs there several times before and I will never go back. For one, we brought our dogs very expensive orthopedic bed for her to sleep on since she has arthritis while she was staying there when we were out of town. When we got back they could not find the bed even though our name was written on it. They offered to reimburse us for a new one but when we brought in the reciept one of the managers refused to repay us and screamed at us. Finally she threw the money at us and stormed off! On another occasion we went to pick up my dog and her nose was all torn up and bleeding she was so scared she wouldnt bark or do anything for days and kept peeing the house when she would hear a loud noise. She was also sick to her stomach for several days. Those people there are rude, unprofessional, and should be investigated for animal cruelity!! Read Less

I have been taking my dogs to SWACC for about 14 years for boarding and grooming. They are always happy and clean when I pick them up. The staff is very nice especially Sally. She has been there since I have been going there. The first time I was there she took me on a tour of the dog and cat facilities first thing in the morning. They were spotless and smelled very fresh. My dog likes going to SACC. We've boarded him there two times and plan to reserve another week this summer. It was really cute last time because he picked one of the young men who worked there and kind of got attached. Followed him around the whole time he worked. Many employees knew my dog, Luke, by name and that made me feel like they are truly engaged and concerned with his well-being while we have to be away. For over a year this was my vet of choice, I often boarded my dog and cats there for up to 3 weeks at a time. I like that someone was there 24 hours a day. Climate-controlled kennel--not hi-tech, but kept them safe and comfy. Their Royal Canine dog food less expensive than at PetSmart. My dog enjoyed daycare--big yard, shade, people to watch & play with, pool parties! Snacks! Friendly front office sometimes grumpy, but aren't we all sometimes? Hey Jen20, get a grip on reality! I lived in El Paso for 6 years and I used this place several times. I once tried another place just to see how it went for my pets worst mistake I could have done. Southwest my dogs were taking very good care of they were shown alot of love and attention in my time away. I never once felt that because of my race that had anything to do with how my dogs were carried for. I would totally tell people to bring their pets here. I loved this place and have moved away several years ago but my daughter now lives there and I told her to take her pets there. The people were friendly and the place was clean. I brought my two dogs there while i was on vacation because someone recommended it. My dogs are house dogs. You have to pay extra for pool time and walks, otherwise they sit in the kennel for 24 hours a day! My dogs were very frightened when i picked them up and i've never seen them that way. It was expensive because i paid for a daily walk and pool time. The doggy pool is really neat though and most of the staff seemed friendly.Read Less

We have a, let's say ""high maintenance"" dog. She is fond of escaping and a sponge for attention. Therefore, it was very difficult to go out of town and find someone who could take care of her. My doctor recommended this place for boarding and all I can say is she's thrilled when we're walking in the door, and happy and content when I pick her up. They let her out to play, she can go in the pool when it's warm; they even have ""pupsicles"" and barbeques for them.
