Excellent staff very friendly and supportive. For routine visits they are a little more expensive than most other vets. That being said the have an animal neutered or spayed their prices are insane. They charged me 470. To have a 44 lb dog neutered. When I showed up they had me sign a document saying I would pay. I mentioned that this may be wrong I've had my share of animals altered and this was 2-3 timed more. They told me it was by weight I replied it was half of this to have a horse altered. When we showed up to pick the pup up nope the total bill was 546. The microchip costing 72 of it. Never once did they reference the cost up until drop off. Read Less

My dog went in for a routine operation for his rear leg. He died on the operating table! He was definitely given too much anesthesia!!!!! I was never told there was any chance or risk of dying from this normal procedure!!! Than in my time of grieving, they called me to tell me I had an outstanding balance from this operation!!! Dr. Dreels in my opinion is one of Guilderland Animal Hospital's most kind, caring and concerned Drs. I have met. I hope he will be staying with GAH, he is definitely a wonderful addition to the GAH staff, and will be the first Doc. I will be requesting to care for my pets. Goliath has been a client at "the spa" (boarding) for years now. He loves all of his friends there. I never have to feel bad about going out of town without him. He's had one emergency which you all handled with such great care and every year after that you keep up with him and make sure he's as healthy as he can be. I took my cat to have blood drawn and have urine taken. he is a feisty cat so they asked if I would mind if they gave him something to calm him down. five minutes later my cat's tongue was on the floor and he was completely unalert for 2 hours...they said he would be groggy for an hour. Following that it took two weeks for him to come back to *half of himself. I had my records for my cat transferred to another vet and they informed me that he was given a *procedural* dose of anesthesia! my cat is 15. since then at my new wonderful vet they have managed to draw blood and urine without giving him anything as far as a tranq. I highly recommend Rotterdam veterinarian on Guilderland Avenue. instead of taking a feisty cat and oversedating him they, we did exactly what GV was supposed to do with no tranq. Read Less

Since my family moved here less than 1 year ago, we have had the unfortunate luck of needing vet care for all 3 of our pets (2 large dogs and 1 cat) in that time. I have been immensely happy with each visit. As a former zookeeper and now a wildlife biologist, I appreciate not only a good bedside manner in a vet, but frank, honest, and accurate information. On July 14th my husband and I brought our 12 year terrier in to say farewell. His name was Louie and well loved by so many so he had an entourage with him. The staff was accommodating and didn't seem to have a problem with so many people being there. The vet and technician that did the procedure were so sweet. Louie was my son and companion for so long that this was and has been the hardest thing I've ever had to do. When we found out Louie might have lung cancer on June 21st I in no way thought I'd be saying my last "mommy loves you" 3 short weeks later. But some of this stress was relieved by the staff here. Although it's a daily struggle to adjust to life with out him, it's nice to know we were supported in our decision. And it's a great comfort to see his little paw print and beautiful keep sake box that holds his ashes. We will continue to bring his sister Clementine here because of the knowledge and professionalism they exhibit on a daily basis. A thank you from our family to this establishment.Read Less

I have been taking my dogs here for their healthcare since I owned my first dog in 1998...they have received exceptional care! My first dog a Lab had Lazer Surgery for a cancerous tumor and lived an additional 8 years... My Westie just recently had his life saved by the exceptional skills of Dr. Ragozzino! The team has been great in communication,campassionate in care for not only my fur kids but sensitive to what we pet owners are experiencing when our pets are ill. I am a new pet owner. I have a a 15 week old puppy, so I have been going to the vet often to keep him up to date on all of his shots as well as once when he fell and was limping. Each of the four times I have been to Guilderland Animal Hospital I was greeted by a super friendly staff who know my puppy's name, call him by it and even come up to pet him. Each time I bring my puppy here I know that the staff is doing the best job they can to assist me in his care.
