My cat had surgery in November to remove a large growth from her leg.  The vet was very nice and did a few xrays that he felt were necessary to see if there was anything elsewhere which there wasn't.  When he called to give the results of the biopsy, it was indicated that there was the possibility of cancer that could spread.  Less than a month later, it was obvious that the cancer had come back and she quickly became very ill.  She was suffering quite a bit so we wanted to have her euthanized.  I called on a Thursday and was told they couldn't get her in until the following Tuesday.  The poor cat may have not have even made it that long and would've been in pain and vomiting until then.  I was appalled that they would make a long standing patient wait that long, regardless of how few vets were on the schedule.  I was able to get her into the Latham Emergency Clinic that afternoon where she was euthanized.   I would hope that any veterinary practice would allow for emergencies in their schedule so an established patient could get the care it needed without having to wait 5 days when they are very ill. I had to bring my cat in for an abscess on his neck, I asked them to look at his leg since the other vet just told me let nature take it course on healing it. I couldn't stand looking at my cat in such pain. They are awesome with working with the clients on payments and the procedure was amazing my cat is doing awesome on 3 legs. Today I was feeling sad cause I discovered my cat has a wound towards her back area. I took her to the vet and to my surprise the receptionist had an attitude blinking her eyes unsmiling unfriendly I felt so unwelcome there. I told her about my cat and she was silent, staring with a mean stare so I asked if my cat can be helped and then decided to leave because I felt so angry by her attitude and I didn't want her near my cat. Very unprofessional and unpleasant experience for me. Before I left I asked the receptionist name and she told me no. First time I dealt with anybody who works for a vet and has an attitude. Received no calls from the office after my baby was out of surgery. Had to call 3 times. My first call, I was told the dr would be calling me in about 20 minutes, 2nd, which was 2 hours later, I had to ask if my baby had died or if he was ok as nobody said anything and the 3rd time which was another 2 hours later, Dr. Beck yelled and said he had to take all but 4 teeth and he would be lucky if he ever eats dry food again. No other information on my baby details of what they did, why they did it or how to feed him during the healing process from the dr. Rudy, thoughtless and inconsiderate staff. All this because I thought he had an eye infection. By the way, the eye issue, I found out from another vet, is from feline herpes. Give me a warning! Brought my cat in today, the Dr. told me they usually do a senior testing package with blood work and whatever else. Well stupid me said ok and I almost fell over when I checked out. I was expecting to maybe pay 150-200 for the visit.....The testing was over $200 and a simple visit turned into a $326 bill. Took my dog for a hematoma on his right ear in jan 2016, Now he has 2 more witch required surgery. Took the stitches off this pass Saturday and now he has another hematoma on his right ear. Mind you the surgery was 2 weeks ago. Now they tell me we have to pay for another hematoma surgery $800+ dollars later. Yea like money grows on trees. Read Less

Wow...I wish I had read all of the reviews about the rude, dismissive and irresponsible receptionist they employ. I myself have had the same experience. We recently moved to the area and was looking forward to meeting with the vets. It didn't take long till one of my dogs fell ill and needed to be seen. The vet experience was very good, and the staff that attended to my dog were top notch. The receptionist however is a whole other issue. Of course, if you would like free medical advice over the phone, the receptionist is great for that!!! I called with a follow up issue with my dog, and the receptionist proceeded to reprimand me and tell me that I did something wrong and I should not of done that. I am sorry....does she know my dogs better then me? What is a vet with a vet degree doing working the phones? Oh, I guess she is no more qualified to give medical advice then I am !! Spoke to the vet about the rude, condescending receptionist, and all I got was an " I am sorry, and we will package up your dogs records for you". Guess they are as inept at running a business as the receptionist are!! If it was my business, I would of offered some kind of incentive to keep me as a client. So now, they have lost 2 dogs as new clients. Maybe they should save their money on the the vets payroll and just let the receptionist make house calls !!!! First let me start off by stating that I love my dog. He is an English bulldog. And he is very happy. unfortunately he suffers a lifetime allergy. he needs prescribed foods, antibiotics occasionally etc. I have a family vet in which we love.. but.. I wanted to go above and beyond to make sure my bully was getting all necessary medical treatment to give him a comfortable life. so I made the biggest mistake and made an apt w the Amsterdam animal hospital to get a 2nd opinion. mind you I had taken my dog to numerous vet appointments prior and nothing seemed to work. this veterinarian (female) don't even no her name cuz that's how important she is. tried to basically tell me I was not taking care of my dog! first and for most if I wasn't taking care of him why was I in your office paying you money to treat him?? secondly when j tried to explain all of his history and passed meds she would not let me speak. would roll her eyes and cut me off! please if you love your animal do not. DO NOT BRING YOUR ANIMAL TO THIS PLACE!! the outcome was I purchased antibiotics.. again.. and will do a follow up w my family vet. lesson learned! Read Less

I was able to get to see the vet (and wasn't a client!) with a cat with a sudden life-threatening condition the day after Christmas. Six days of hospitalization, a procedure, numerous IVs and drugs, later,    I expected (based on experiences with other vets) a HUGE bill.  It wasn't! I feel it was very reasonable - especially since I also feel the level of care was very high (progress reports from the vet every day, an unexpected follow-up call from the vet after discharge, etc.).Not only would I recommend this veterinary service to others, I will be taking my other animals there!
