The Main Point: Dr Nathan is a wonderful, compassionate vet. His office is always very clean, with a separate entrance for dogs and cats to help keep their stress level down. He knows how to maintain control of the animals without being rough. We also very much appreciate his sense of humor (especially when our nervous cat had diarrhea in her carrier and was nasty when he got her out of it). We recommend him to everyone.
Our Personal Experience: We actually found his practice when we were in a panic. Our male cat had been bitten by another cat, and developed an abscess at the site of the bite. Every vet that I called in my area gave me a price quote of $300+ to drain and treat it, but when I called Dr Nathan he quoted me around $100, and explained that most vets charge through the roof just to get the profit. He scheduled me for the next day, and our cat was treated and recovered quickly. The charges stuck very closely to what he quoted me over the phone, no surprises. It's hard to find a vet who is in it for the animals and not the money, but Dr Nathan absolutely is. You can tell that he cares about the animals, and cares about the people who own them.
Over the years, we brought our two cats in for a variety of services. From basic check-ups and vaccinations to respiratory infections and urinary problems, he is knowledgeable and reasonable with it all. Two years ago, our female cat got extremely sick. We called Dr Nathan at 9pm on a Sunday night (I'm pretty sure it woke him up), and explained our situation. He told us to come to the vet so he could look at her. There is an afterhours charge, but it is nowhere as steep as other vet practices. He treated her based on her symptoms, and she seemed much more comfortable when we got her home. Over the next few months, we were making weekly visits to Dr Nathan, as her health was fluctuating up and down. He tried a variety of treatments, all of which worked for the time being, but her immune system just kept knocking her down again. When he had exhausted all options, he referred us to a vet with a specialty in rare feline diseases. Even that vet did not have answers about what was wrong with her. It broke our hearts, but we determined that the kindest thing for the cat was to euthanize her. We did this at the specialist practice, and the next time we were at Dr Nathan's with our male cat, he asked about how our female cat was doing. We told her than she had to be euthanized, and he expressed his deep sorrow that she was never able to recover. It was not the fake, sorry-for-your-loss thing, it was a true, heartfelt sadness.
I could go on and on about all the great experiences we have had with this vet practice. If you are a reasonable person who loves your pets as if they were your kids, Dr Nathan's vet practice is the place to go. Read Less
