I have been going to Baldwin Animal Hospital for years. The care that all of my dogs have received from Dr Saslow, Dr Munro and the entire staff has been loving, personal and exceptional. My dogs have been happy to go to the vet because they always get a loving welcome. My last dog went through cancer and was able to have a couple more really good years because of treatment coordinated and supervised by Dr. Saslow and Dr. Munro. As any concerned pet parent, I spent a good amount of time researching in order to find a caring Veterinarian. My Frenchie was having skin issues :( Nonetheless, I wanted to address this problem sooner than later. Dr. Saslow had 7 reviews; out of that small number, 7 were good. The staff responded adequately. I arrived with the knowledge of the price for the visit (which I called to get in advance). The visit consisted of the bare minimum -nothing was looked at unless I asked. The Dr. carried on about how bad of a pet a Frenchie is -calling it a little monster due to the endless problems that they have. I do not know of anyone who wants to be told of the negatives rather than addressing the already at hand -which was already unfortunate. At the end of the visit, with no clue from Dr Saslow whatsoever, I was issued a bill for almost $400. I was blown away as he never explained nor was I given any option. I found this to be extremely poor communication especially from someone with an established business. It was disrespectful and humiliating. I will do whatever I need to do for my loved pet, however, this does not ever give anyone the right to just abuse that. My pet was not in a life or death situation where exams and medication needed to be administered as if the master was unavailable. On top of the hefty fee, a shampoo was prescribed which I found for less than 1/2 the price elsewhere. I never write reviews because I like to focus on the positive but had I found this review prior to my visit, I would have had other considerations and/or financial preparations. It is not about the cost but it's about the principle. I felt very rushed during my visit.May my experience be of assistance to you. Read Less

I've went to this animal hospital for so many years and they always took great care of my pets. Dr Saslow went above and beyond for me when my dog passed away. He has treated all of my pets for many years and I have found him and Dr. Munro to be what I would call the "best Vets on Long Island." If you use them as your vets, you know what I am talking about. We have been going to Dr Saslow for more than a decade. Switching from our regular vet after he graciously extended an invitation to my eldest daughter Melissa's Girl Scout Troop to tour the facility to earn their Animal Care Badge! We have had our animal family's share of good and bad health problems throughout the years, All Treated with Respect and Compassion by everyone at Baldwin Animal Hospital. Last year we lost our beloved boy Buddy from Lymphoma, and I don't know how we would of gotten through that time without the help and support from Dr. Saslow, Dr. Munroe, Debbie,Tyler, Ruthie, Jeannie, Michelle and the rest of the staff. Remi, just got a clean bill of health after Dr Saslow inspected a mass in her lower lip at her yearly check up. After clearing his schedule to preform surgery a few days later, we had the happy report of it's being benign by the end of the week! I highly recommend Baldwin Animal Hospital. The staff is always very friendly when I walk in. The lobby is bog, clean and neat. Sometimes I have to wait a bit for my appointment, but the vet always has my cat and I in and out. The place is very claen, the staff is friendly. The medical assistants are nice, helpful. Dr. Munro was hands on with my boy and she knew exactly what was wrong. She's always taking X-rays to make sure there's nothing going on inside that be the cause of your pets illness(which is expense). But she is excellent at what she does. But it can be pricey and make sure you ask the vets if there is any other solution to the problem that might be less pricey. Cause their was for me and my boy is doing just fine. Read Less

I am the owner of a 4 year old peach-faced lovebird who had never had to go to the vet before. When she started sleeping all the time and her droppings changed color, I got worried and found a local vet that could handle birds: Baldwin Animal Hospital and Bird Clinic.  As an owner of a pet that doesn't fall into the dog/cat column, I was very pleased that they had the name "bird" in the title and that the Dr was listed on some local bird websites as having knowledge of birds. I called up on a Monday morning and was told by the nurse that the clinic didn't open until 10 am, but she would get me in at 9:45 before the Dr's day started. I arrived on time, and the place was clean, bright and quiet. I was taken into a small examination room where the Dr wanted to take my bird's photo, then he gently handled her, examining her thoroughly and she didn't make a peep at all!  He took a fecal sample and also a culture & sent them out for testing. He recommended that she eat an expanded diet and explained what that was, then said goodbye to me AND to her, and said he'd call in 3 days with the test results.Dr called himself and told me results were all negative, then said that her other options were an xray or blood test, but both posed risks to her.  WE decided to work on her diet and see how things go.  She appears to be more like her old self lately.I was very nervous about bringing my bird into a place I picked off the internet, but so I am leaving this review to say that I would absolutely recommend this Dr and his staff.  Very good with birds, and I'm sure it's the same with dogs & cats. I brought my special needs dog in because he was vomiting and dr saslow said he needed surgery immediately to save his life and remove what the dog had eaten. He was completely right and saved my dogs life. He came in on his day off to do the surgery. He is a great vet and would trust him completely.
