Animal Ark Veterinary Hospital

My cat was regularly going to another Veterinary hospital when I moved back to my hometown before he had a urethral blockage. I called his vet as soon as I noticed the symptoms but they couldn't get him in until later that week. This was not acceptable so I looked up all other establishments in the area, This was the first place I called and Dr. Lindley called me back within the hour after I explained what was happening to a receptionist, They told me I could bring him in asap (even though it was a surgery day) and they saved his life. Yesterday was my first time ever going to the Animal Ark. My Bearded Dragon Zero, has been sick for a little over a week now. Doctor Spindel was extremely worried about my little guy and explained to me that he only has one life. He took him in for surgery, and today I went and brought him home! This place is absolutely amazing and very welcoming! Everybody there is comforting and caring! I highly recommend Dr. Spindel! He has over 35 years of experience and is very knowledgeable! The short version: for several years the doctors and other staff at Animal Ark have been giving my dog, Kiki, excellent care!! The professionals at Animal Ark are very intelligent, thorough, hospitable, and consistent in keeping my beloved furry friend healthy and giving us helpful advice. They have beautiful facilities for boarding, as well. Children are able to learn about animals while in the waiting room, too, because there are aquariums and terrariums with fascinating creatures! First time we ever went here was yesterday, for our 15 year old baby girl. The time had come to set her free from suffering with her lymphoma. I've never in my life encountered an ENTIRE veterinary staff more kind and compassionate than those at Animal Ark. Of 3-4 different vet techs, and the vet herself, ALL of them were the kindest, sweetest and most compassionate group of people. They gave us all the time we needed before, during and after. When we held our baby girl as sh...e took her last breath, she had the most peaceful transition into her forever sleep. My husband and I cannot thank you ALL enough for everything yesterday. I will never choose another veterinary office as long as I'm a furbaby Mommy. Alexis was our first baby girl, love of our lives and our first best friend. We are forever grateful for this very peaceful experience with everyone at Animal Ark. No amount of thanks could ever be enough! Dr. Spindel is the closest exotic vet that I'm aware of. The first time I ever went there was after I lost my Male sugar glider. He did a nerocropsy to see if we could find out what happened. First time there today with my seven year old black lab who has had ongoing issues with skin and ears for years. Today was the first time I really felt that someone was listening about what Zelda has been dealing with. I can't say enough the fast action which they got us in, and the sincerity of the staff and Doctor. I was almost in tears and as I told my husband tonight he was as well. We feel like we are on a right path for our girl, we feel hope which is something we have not felt for Zelda. Don't get comfortable with the same diagnosis and treatment for your pets, that is what we did and just thought it was always going to be the same no matter what. Dr. Leia Lindley was clearly unhappy to see me during an emergency visit when my cat had a UTI. She spoke down to me the whole visit even after seeing how obviously upset I was. Her bed side manner was atrocious as she showed no empathy, sympathy, compassion, etc in the matter. She made me feel guilty for my cats condition and reprimanded me for the duration of the visit. When she gave suggestions on how to prevent this in the future she failed to write any of the information down so I could reference back to it again the the future. She made it seem like she was doing me a favor by making these suggestions but she lacks the forethought and people skills to actually be helpful in any way, shape or form. Very nice facility with very caring staff. Have taken several pets there for shots and personnel very knowledgeable and friendly. Had to put a pet to sleep and they were very caring to our emotional needs and made a horrible experience almost bearable. Easy in and out and plenty of parking so absolutely no complaints. 100% markup so do your homework on vet care prices. Gave unnecessary vaccine to a senior cat and still told my senior dad they hadn’t a clue what was wrong with her. First I got my oldest cat put down here and the vet (i forget his name) was beyond sweet and so were the staff when I came out they offered me coffee and water etc. Second, my Nannie had surgery on her dog here for a growth, they were only gonna take 1 off because my Nannie couldn't afford the rest. But the vet (I forget her name) took both off and one for free! And once again the staff was so sweet! Thank you guys! I would definitely recommend these vets to anyone with pets! Read Less

Dr. Lindsey and Dr. Spindel are the best! We been going to Animal Ark nearly 3 years now (we have 2 cats, 1 dog) so they are tried and true. Recently my cat had urinary blockage and Dr. Lindley and the amazing staff at Animal Ark saved his life. He was in their care for three days and he returned happy and healthy. I couldn't be more grateful! They kept me posted every step of the way, got my approval prior to doing anything and were nothing but caring and compassionate. I have spent hours talking with the doctors about the best diet, aging, litter boxes, countless things and I have found them to be excessively knowledgeable, kind and patient. Great experience. Took Otter with enlarged prostate. I was scared. Afraid my time with him would be coming to a close. They took me right away. No waiting. X-rays told the Vet antibiotics and stool softener is the way to go. Relieved, I was happy when I left, only one hour there. Staff was extremely kind and comforting since I was a wreck. We have gone to "The Ark" since we got our new family member last year and can't say enough good stuff about EVERYONE that works at "The Ark". Our girl needs to say "Hi" to everyone when she goes there. She has been getting the best treatment and we feel more than confident with the care that she is getting. Not only is the medical care fantastic but we also make use of the grooming services and they are top of the line. I don't need my pup to come out with a "bandana" like they do at other places I need my pup to come out well taken care off and the staff at "The Ark" is THE BEST. Read Less

We traveled an hour for care for our African Grey. I was scared going in because I didn't know if they would be able to handle the bird. I was happily proven wrong. They not only were able to handle her, they saved her life and what I thought would be a short life thereafter has proven to be over a year of normal life for her! I owe this vet so much. They were so nice to our pet and us. Doc was very knowledgeable and set out a plan to make her better, and explained it step by step. After the surgery told me how to care for Oatie Orbit (female Fancy Rat). He removed a tumor and spade her, with internal stitches to keep her from chewing at them (they are chewers). Upon entry to the Ark, I found the facility very clean and well kept. To keep folks occupied during a brief wait they have a few beautiful aquariums, and even some terrariums. Staff is very courteous and smiling!! Everyone at the Ark was very warm-spirited and considerate of circumstances. Dr. Spindel was very gentle and kind to both my cat and my family. He was thorough but also honest about what might be the most budget-friendly option for my family. The technician let us know when it was going to take a few minutes more than planned and offered my family beverages. So thoughtful and rare these days. I'm used to human doctor's offices where you just have to sit and look at the clock and wonder why you haven't been seen yet. The office was clearly very busy. Three ladies behind the counter were running around, trying to keep up with the demand of their time. When one was swamped, another stepped in to give back up. The best part for me was that despite the pressure, these ladies kept on smiling and treating guests in a pleasant manner. I'm a long-time client of South Shore Vet Clinic and recently moved so far west, the trip no longer made sense for my cat that gets car sick. New to the area and needed to find a vet, my dog has an ear issue and a rash on her belly. They were very accommodating and everyone we met were very nice to myself and my Gracie. I have been too many veterinarians through the years. There are veterinarians that appear knowledgeable and care about your pets health. I lost my first German Shepherd puppy as a result of negligence during the X-Ray process and have other stories that I could tell. You might say that I learned the hard way by losing some of my animals. ? I also know that there are some circumstances that a doctor cannot always make things better and in the end, we may lose a family member (human or pet). Would you choose a doctor for yourself because they are the cheapest? Will you receive the medical and healthcare that you require? If your pet is truly a part of your family; wouldnt you choose the best healthcare for them? Animal Ark is reasonably priced compared to any of the good or great veterinarian practices that are worth trusting and IMHO there are not many. Two of my puppies were seen twice a day at a local veterinarians office due to bad vaccinations (shots). The cost was extreme, one puppy died and I was told that there was nothing more they could do for the second puppy. I called Animal Ark at 6 AM and Dr. Spindel told me to bring the puppy in immediately. My Diamond girl was hospitalized for a couple of weeks and I was allowed to visit with her daily. Dr. Spindels medical expertise, his caring staff, their understanding, and compassion is not found at every practice. Diamond made it through a long journey and there is no other veterinarian that I trust with my family (dogs, ferrets, parrot, and sugar gliders) more than Dr. Spindel. This is one story of many stories that I can tell. I know the importance of having a knowledgeable, caring veterinarian who will spend as much time as needed with his patients. If I wait in his office for an appointment; I know he is spending much needed time with his patients. I do not mind waiting as I have been that patient in the exam room; where a through exam has been done, an explanation in laymans terms is being provided for what is best for my pets healthcare and options, where they are supportive and sensitive to the owners emotions and frame of mind. We expect this much for our personal health care; shouldnt we expect this for our pets healthcare? I know I do! I have entrusted the healthcare of my pets for over 15 years to Dr. Spindel and will continue to do so!Read Less

I can tell you for a FACT that a majority of these "5 star" posts are written by Betsy, an employee. Awful Drs, knowingly prescribed EXPIRED meds and generally don't know what theyre doing half the time. PS IF YOU BOARD YOUR DOG HERE YOURE LUCKY IF THEYRE WALKED AT ALL. I know people that worked there. You would NOT bring your pets there if you knew half the stuff I have heard....animals dying left and right because there's not enough coverage...animals sitting in their own feces. Its disgusting. We have a plan in place for my future visit as I am extremely difficult when I get stressed and haven't been letting anyone touch my paws. I have been taking my dogs and cats to Animal Ark for many years. The entire staff is superb. The care has been excellent . One of my dogs , a rescue, had many problems, emergencies, and serious surgery over the years. When she finally had to be put down due to severe deterioration due to old age, a stroke, and pain, all at Animal Ark were compassionate, patient, and respectful . I've used the animal ark for my birds and other various less traditional pets over the years and have always found the practice to be good.  Spindle is ones of the more experienced vets around with avians and exotics.  He's Always willing to take the time needed to discuss options and explain things never a hard sell or pressure.  My opinion the best option around.  My critters may not agree so good thing they can't use yelp lol Read Less
