The State Street Animal Hospital is a full service veterinary care facility in Batavia, NY. Newly built, we opened in 1994.
Our hospital offers comprehensive medical and surgical services.
We work in partnership with our clients to provide excellent preventive care. We want to keep your pet healthy. There are many dangerous and costly medical problems we can help you avoid.
Along this line, we include dental exams as part of every physical exam. We perform dental cleaning and prophylaxis when indicated.
When problems do arise we are here for you, offering emergency coverage for current clients, medical workups including laboratory, x-ray and ultrasound exams, and surgical intervention where needed.
Our goal: to provide compassionate and professional care for our patients and clients.

We had been a client at this office for 12 years. On a Wed. 8/29/18 our 12 yr. old Collie mix could no longer breath or walk, he had to be put down that day. It was an emergency. I called and requested this and I was told by the clerk, everyone is in a meeting and they are too busy. She asked if we could bring him in on Friday! My boyfriend phoned back and spoke with a Vet Technician and he stated "our dog has to be put down today!" After being placed on hold for a lengthy period of time, she informed us again about the meeting everyone was in. She referred us to go to Orchard Park Vets office an hour away! We phoned State Street Animal Hospital at 1 pm and they still couldn't accommodate us and they worked till 7 pm! We have another dog and we will never return to this office! They have no respect for us or our dying dog! It was horrible and a most difficult situation to witness our poor dog suffering and gasping for air for five more hours; because our vet of 12 years couldn't take the time to put him at peace!Luckily we found another vet that took care of him @ 5 pm that night! They should never refer dedicated clients of 12 years to take a two hour ride (round trip) when we are emotionally upset! Their referral would have put more than our lives at risk due to driving to Orchard Park! They have NO common sense! If you care for your beloved pet, I wouldn't go here!

I'm very disappointed in this facilities "HACK" job on a neutering. They clipped the dogs private before surgery shaving it also. This is just all around sad. I hope this heals correctly. 3/29/18

How wonderful that we no longer have to travel out of town to find amazing vets. These vets (and the staff) are simply great---and caring. For cat owners, they offer a cat's only morning on Wednesdays. I might add that dog owners seem to love these vets, too (from what I have heard in the waiting room). State Street vets spend the necessary time with our pets--never rushed.

My cat came home just now with a horrible dog bite on his neck and they wouldn't take us at 6:38pm when I called and said I'm five minutes away because they close at 7. That kind of response disgusts ...
My cat came home just now with a horrible dog bite on his neck and they wouldn't take us at 6:38pm when I called and said I'm five minutes away because they close at 7. That kind of response disgusts me on every level. I stayed open for people when I worked retail but a badly hurt cat and family member of ours that sleeps on my four year old's bed with him, they can't look at on a Tuesday evening? Oh let me just schedule in my cats emergency or drag my kid to Orchard Park emergency. You guys SUUUUUUUUCCCCCCCKKKKKK. Obviously it's about making money for you people and you don't care about the animals like your business requires. Someday when this amazing, epic beast of a cat dies, I'll preserve his heart and lend you it because obviously you people don't have any. SHAME.

My cat is alive and well thanks to State Street. First, by finding a blood issue she had before doing surgery that another vet missed completely. Had the other vet done the surgery there is a very good chance our cat would have bled out. Second, while on vacation recently our cat became very ill and they cared for her while we were gone. They were honest about treatment plans, what they knew and what they didn't know. Our cat is now back home doing very well. We are very thankful that we chose to take a recommendation and come to State Street, even if it means a 35 minute drive to get there.

I want to thank all of staff at State St. Animal Hospital. Everyone of them has been so professional but warm and caring for my animals and me. Drs Fran, Gwen and Debbie all went above and beyond trying to isolate exactly what my Rex's problems were and they were multiple. Today (5/31) I took my boy in to help him pass serenely and gently. When he took a turn for the worse Sunday night, Dr. Gwen talked with me twice at midnight and was willing to see Rex and euthanize him that night. We decided to take a wait and see approach. Rex was able to pass very quietly and gently to the Bridge. Dr. Gwen euthanized Rex, and allowed Rex and me to sit outside under the tree, so he didn't have to go into the building. She also honored my request for a sedative for Rex. It had been difficult to draw blood his last visits and I didn't want him to struggle. Thank you isn't enough and those final moments with Rex are priceless.. You are all so appreciated!

Vet pushed Science Diet... Obviously gets paid to endorse them. Dr. also told me my poor pup had a bone disease without taking X-rays, got a second opinion and turns out it was just a sprain!! Dr. ha...
Vet pushed Science Diet... Obviously gets paid to endorse them. Dr. also told me my poor pup had a bone disease without taking X-rays, got a second opinion and turns out it was just a sprain!! Dr. has awful bedside manners, she began with "so your pup has a disease..." Obviously I'm going to immediately start crying thinking my dog is dying!! Nope, just a bone disease he'll outgrow. But it turns out he doesn't even have that!! Sooo disappointed do NOT listen to her food recommendations, they are proven time and again they're not good for your dog!

We had been a client at this office for 12 years. On a Wed. 8/29/18 our 12 yr. old Collie mix could no longer breath or walk, he had to be put down that day. It was an emergency. I called and requested this and I was told by the clerk, everyone is in a meeting and they are too busy. She asked if we could bring him in on Friday! My boyfriend phoned back and spoke with a Vet Technician and he stated "our dog has to be put down today!" After being placed on hold for a lengthy period of time, she informed us again about the meeting everyone was in. She referred us to go to Orchard Park Vets office an hour away! We phoned State Street Animal Hospital at 1 pm and they still couldn't accommodate us and they worked till 7 pm! We have another dog and we will never return to this office! They have no respect for us or our dying dog! It was horrible and a most difficult situation to witness our poor dog suffering and gasping for air for five more hours; because our vet of 12 years couldn't take the time to put him at peace!Luckily we found another vet that took care of him @ 5 pm that night! My cat is alive and well thanks to State Street. First, by finding a blood issue she had before doing surgery that another vet missed completely. The staff at State Street Animal Hospital is amazing. Everyone is very nice and helpful towards your pet. I have been coming here for years when our family had a rabbit and after he passed away we got two cats. The staff is of great service and a great place to bring your pets for health.

we went here for a little while .We were not happy then do test that we did not need and charge alot. They do love animal
