Bohemia, New York
General Info
Atlantic Coast New York Veterinary Specialists is a Bohemia-based clinic that offers compassionate and knowledgeable care to the pets of the local area. Their services include cardiology, dermatology, neurology, and surgery. Our team understands the heartfelt connection pets have with their families. We promote wellness, address chronic problems, and treat urgent medical matters. Atlantic Coast New York Veterinary Specialists in Bohemia delivers veterinary advice that fits well into daily routines by personalizing visits, services, and schedules to reduce stress and improve long-term results across New York. The procedure starts with an organized intake session, which collects data on appetite levels, energy status, hydration needs, sleep trends and behavioral signals. The physical examination continues with the evaluation of weight fluctuations, dental health, coat condition, lung sounds, posture, and limb flexibility. Healthcare professionals use patient records from past visits to focus their examinations and identify new needs. Atlantic Coast New York Veterinary Specialists provides a variety of services for pets, ranging from annual exams and diagnostics to core vaccinations, pain assessments and parasite protection, mobility planning and behavioral consultation. A multitude of care plans address seasonal concerns (performing skin evaluations in the spring, hydration checks in the summer, and arthritis reviews prior to cooler months). The establishment of return intervals considers both clinical needs and household wants. Clients receive detailed records, home care instructions, and follow-up schedules after every appointment. Families can access medication notes together with the progress and recheck dates through the system on their computers. The system incorporates multi-pet scheduling as well as senior comfort plans and pace-adjusted return visits for complex or ongoing cases. Wellness becomes something that can be controlled thanks to the Atlantic Coast New York Veterinary Specialists. The pet care journey has a clear structure in every step of the Bohemian homes and New York communities. They emphasize preventive care, early problem detection, and timely treatment. Customers also appreciate the level of transparency, education, and guidance they receive. From intricate diagnoses to senior pet support, they remain involved in every aspect of care. The company continues to gain an excellent reputation as pet owners learn more about its revolutionary approach to animal health.

Unethical Veterinary hospital. They do not care about the animals!! The only thing they want is your money. My dog is having spine issues. Made an appointment with the neurologist. After examining Jake she said he needed an MRI and surgery. Scheduled the MRI for a few days later. Forgot to ask a few questions called her back right after we left the office. Neurologist never called back. After 3 days I wanted to talk to her before bringing him in. Postponed the MRI. Called the neurologist again her assistant called back finally. When I wanted to reschedule she wouldn’t had to wait 6 weeks. Punishing me because the neurologist never has the curiosity to answer a few questions. It’s ridiculous making a dog suffer because I wasn’t allowed to ask any questions. They want your money and that’s all they care about. Read Less

If I could give zero stars I would. My puppy ingested a lot of snow while outside, more than I thought. When she came inside she was shaking uncontrollably and then vomited 4 times all water and ice. She collapsed and was gasping for air. I thought she was dead. I rushed her to my vet who took an X-ray and determined she had aspirated pneumonia. She was more alert but had labored breathing and very pale almost white gums. My vet referred me to Atlantic coast for further spacialty care. I brought Stella in and they took her in the back immediately. A Dr came out to tell me she was stable and looked good. He told me she would need to stay the night but no longer than 48 hours. He did stress he didn’t think she would really be there more than 24 hours. He really wasn’t clear on what happened and I had to repeat how this happened. That was concerning to me. Why didn’t they come to ask me? Soon after I get an estimate for treatment. High end over $3600, low $3100. I was distraught and didn’t really read it carefully. After 24 hours they would not release her. By the next morning I was told she was ok to come home. I went to get her and was told I owed another $77 on top of the $3100 I already paid upfront. I asked to see a bill. Well...there were duplicate charges, things billed that they never did etc. I asked that they review it again and it was concluded that they owed ME $1,100!!!! To say I’m furious is an understatement. Not one person there would’ve caught this or refunded me without me asking. Atlantic coast is a bunch of crooks! They sent my dog home with two medications totaling over $130 which cost about $60 online through chewy.com. I could’ve got it myself for far less. I’m still waiting for three more issues with the final bill to be resolved. The estimate contained 2 items that were only supposed to be billed twice each and yet they were billed three times. Also, no one ever asked me if my dog was continuing to vomit or have any acid reflux issues however they injected more than $400 worth or Pepcid and cerenia into her over the course of 48 hrs. Preventative? I don’t think so! That was there way of billing unnecessary charges. She was not nauseous and she did not have any stomach issues after the initial vomit and aspiration. This place is nothing but a rip off. They prey on vulnerable people who care for and would do anything for their pets. Disgusting! I will be filing a complaint with the NYS Veterinary Board. You have not heard the last from me! Read Less

Have been there twice with my cat. Both times he was treated with compassion and care. And they were very reassuring to me. My only complaint is that my cat was prescribed a medication that had to be specially made for him from an outside pharmacy. I was told the pharmacy would contact me to set up payment and delivery. It is now day 2 and I've heard nothing. I called the animal hospital and the receptionist said she would call the pharmacy. It's been 2 hours and I have not heard anything. My appointment for cardiology testing for my Lucy this weekend went so smoothly. Danielle who works the front desk is so professional and courteous to everybody. I had the opportunity to watch her interact with other clients in person and on the telephone while I was waiting for my dog to finish her testing and she was exceptional. The desk got busier and busier and she handled it like a real professional with a smile on her face. I will continue to use Atlantic Coast and wouldn't hesitate to recommend them. Read Less

Dr Kramer and the all the doctors and staff are simply wonderful and very caring. The facility is clean and well maintained. As it is an emergency center you can call at any time and speak to someone about your pet. Highly recommend! I'd like to add an update as I see some posts which I disagree with. Dr. Kramer is an extremely nice man and is not money hungry at all. His primary concern is for the welfare of your pet and all animals. I have a little Spynx with a complicated heart and he and the entire staff there has been very caring and it's never about money. In fact it's the opposite. Read Less

Very pleased with this emergency animal hospital. I went on a weeknight at about 9:30 pm because I thought my cat might have a urinary block. Everyone that I dealt with that night, the receptionist, veterinary assistant and the doctor, were all friendly and professional. I thought the doctor did a great job communicating her concerns and diagnosis, and the veterinary assistant was clearly an animal lover and I felt very comfortable when she took my cat in back for an X-ray. I appreciated that the doctor was considerate of cost; there was no unnecessary testing done and the doctor even gave me some samples of prescription food for my cat. Ultimately, though, the exam and testing is more expensive than your regular vet, but it is an emergency clinic, open 24 hours so that is not surprising. If you have an emergency, I highly recommend Atlantic Coast. Read Less

My dog became very sick, very suddenly and after explaining his symptoms to my regular vet, she advised me to take him to an emergency hospital. I decided to take him to Atlantic Coast since they were the closest to my home. They took him in immediately and started to treat him. He had a variety of symptoms which made it very difficult to diagnose the cause of his illness but the specialists there worked as a team and finally diagnosed and treated him successfully. He spent 3 days in the hospital and I found all of the doctors and support staff to be professional, caring and courteous. I was constantly updated when he was in distress and was quickly given a report any time I called to check on him. I have to say that I was very impressed with his treatment and I have had experience with all of the other local emergency facilities at one time or another over the years. The only reason for the 4* instead of 5 was the expense although I have to say, they are no more expensive than the other emergency hospitals in the area. I thank God that I at least had the credit to afford his treatment. My heart goes out to those who can't. Thank you everyone at Atlantic Coast for saving the life of my beloved dog. Read Less

This was my SECOND time here. No one should bring a dog to an emergency animal hospital, but I needed to. My experience was wonderful both times. My dog had an anal rupture in her anal sack. The first time scared the heck out of me. I didn't know what to expect. The people there were absolutely wonderful starting with the front counter girl to the nurse, the doctor and everyone in between. They made me feel comfortable, let me know what was going to happen next and the money was the last thing we spoke about. My dog had to have surgery so she was put out. They told me to go home and they would call me. They called me within an hour and said everything was good and that it would be about 2 hours before I could take her home but to call before I come just to make sure. I called and they said she still was alittle drowsy to wait about another 2 hours. When I finally picked her up, she was fine and I paid the bill and left. The second time the same thing happened but on the other side. These were different people but still wonderful from start to finish. The front counter girl was very nice, the nurse was friendly and said they will see if they can just flush it out without putting her all the way out, just a sedative. This one wasn't as bad so I was out in 1 and a half hours from start to finish. They gave me pain medication and an antibiotic. These are wonderful, kind people and if I need to see them in the future, I will. Read Less

Read Less

The vet said they should have manually removed it on Saturday. Why didn't, because they want to make MONEY!! In meantime we brought in our other cat. Well the Bills got messed up. They were saying we didn't pay for one. The girl Wouldn't even talk to me. The Owner Dr. Kramer, would not even get on. It finally got fixed because we were picking our cat and they had no choice. Read Less
