The only place I trust to care for my precious fur baby. The receptionists are friendly, and the veterinarians are great. I don't feel nervous for my fur baby when I come here, and I know it won't cost me an arm and a leg either.I absolutely love this new location and the new hours! I no longer have to take off work to bring my cat in, which is very helpful. Walking in I immediately feel welcomed- they keep a board with the pet patients names on it, how cute! Beautiful photography of pets line the office. Coffee is available as well as some purchases for your pets. Waiting area is small so don't bring the whole family for your fur baby's check up.At the end of my first visit, they gave me a thoughtful kitty goody bag for me and my cat. Can always use a free scooper! They followed up with me via email and mail for my cat's next suggested appointment, and you can get discounts here for shots from time to time. Sometimes, they have a savings offer for first time check ups, so bringing your pet here is a smart, reasonable and safe choice.My cat Natalie and I have been here twice so far, and Natalie hasn't shown any concern or felt uncomfortable either time. I have brought my dog Lola to Dr. Glassman for years and have always been impressed with the level of care she has received. When living in NYC, it was worth the drive up to see her as she was always more reasonably priced than city vets, but over time my preference became more than just financial. Lola has undergone a few minor surgeries, dentals, etc. with Dr. Glassman and all have gone smoothly (not the case with other vets I've seen).I've since moved to LA, but recently I was home visiting family when Lola started showing serious signs of illness. Dr. Glassman ran tests and performed ultrasounds and a surgical biopsy. She diagnosed my dog with hepatitis and explained to me the extent of the damage. Initially I took Lola home following her surgery, but she worsened again over the weekend. Dr. Glassman made herself available by text all weekend and met me on a Sunday to give me additional syringes of medication got my dog so I wouldn't have to take her to an emergency vet (where they wouldn't know her case and would charge me a fortune). That Monday I ended up taking her back in because she was showing neurological signs (can be linked to liver issues). Dr. Glassman took Lola back in for the week and had her on fluids and medications to get her stable again. Lola improved dramatically and all neuro signs dissipated.During this whole fiasco, my grandmother had also passed away. I can't say how grateful I am to know that Lola was in good hands and although she was/is quite sick due to her liver I knew I didn't have to worry because I could trust Dr. Glassman and her staff to take care of Lola while I focused on my grandma and family. They called frequently with updates and even sent me a video of Lola.Lastly, I've noticed a few comments on Dr. Glassman's demeanor and will just say that you should not mistake a no nonsense approach as a lack of compassion. I brought my 3 month old puppy in for shots, but she was throwing up the past few days. She took blood and sent me home. It took her 3 tries to get the blood. As the day went on she  got sicker. I called and she told me to give her a teaspoon of pepto. She became lethargic. I called again. She said bring her in for iv and she'll keep her over night. When I got there, Dr Glassman was out on a call and frick and frack at the desk weren't sure what to do with her. I asked if someone was here overnight and they said no. So I immediately left. I I brought her to Newtown Vet Hospital and they said if I had waited she would had died. She has Parvovirus. I was shocked that Dr. Glassman didn't know the symptoms. Had I waited for the blood results which were told to me st 2:30 the next day, it would have been too late. I would not recommend her to anyone. Stay away. She almost killed my dog. Read Less

Had to use their services under contract of the shelter I got my cat from, in another state. Small place, hard to find. Nice desk service once you're there, but the technicians act as if the owner's don't know anything. Same thing when talking on the phone. My cat got spayed and they gave her a cone that was 4x the size she needed and poorly cut it. No pain medication was offered or suggested, and our kitty was in a lot of distress. Didn't even go over what to expect after the surgery, just gave a discharge paper and that's it. Never called to check up on her. Read Less

I have been to Roosevelt Vet Center three times so far and each visit has been a very positive experience. Both Dr Rosie and Dr Glassman were knowledgeable and compassionate towards my terminally ill cat and the care they provided made a very hard time for us much easier. I was struck by how clean and fresh smelling the practice is. I was taken into the back part to see my cat and discuss her X-rays and the cleanliness and order I saw there was very reassuring. The Doctor also followed up with phone calls to me inquiring how my kitty was doing. My kitty passed away peacefully at home but the fact that the Vet Center does house calls was immensely comforting to me; knowing that the doctor would come to my home to ease her suffering is a huge bonus. Do not take your animal here. My 13 year old American Bulldog was the love of our lives and in really good health. He developed a very small lump on his ankle area, so we took him to Roosevelt. They told us not to worry and that it was NOTHING and sent us on our way. Over the next month or so it continued to grow and we became worried. We took our boy to a different vet; they told us it was cancer and it was TOO LATE to remove the tumor. The vet said if only we took him sooner they would have been able to remove it. We called Roosevelt to tell them and they did not care at all. Unfortunately we lost our boy to cancer. I wish we went to a different vet from the beginning or got a second opinion sooner..He would probably still be here today if it weren't for this veterinary service. Read Less

I have used Roosevelt Vet for a couple of years. It was finally this past year that I decided it was best I leave.  Overall, Dr. Glassman is a competent veterinarian.  It is the brusque, almost rude attitude that I am uncomfortable with.  If you don't do the procedures that she recommends, you are made to feel as if you are a terrible human being or unintelligent.  While I love my pet dearly, I don't agree to doing every test designed to be used on an animal. Nor do I like being talked down to.  There were a number of other incidents that I finally decided enough was enough. Pet care is too expensive to be treated like this. Dr. Glassman is capable and knowledgeable.  It may be that I am used to gentler, kinder speaking folks in my life.  If you don't mind gruff, then Roosevelt Vet may work for you. Read Less

I have been bringing my pet to Roosevelt Veterinary for over 8 years; since we first rescued her. I can't begin to express how much care, concern and professionalism we have experienced. They've been there for our family through all the ups and downs of our pet's health. Dr. Glassman and her staff ( Kim , Cathy, Larry and everyone else), are a well trained, empathic group who are always seeking the newest treatments, like the therapeutic use of laser technology or the oldest, like acupuncture! They regularly attend conferences and seminars to bring the most recent improvements in Veterinary health to their clients. I know this because they have introduced these therapies and more to my aging Great Dane. I would NOT HESITATE to recommend Roosevelt Veterinary Center to anyone who needed great care for their pet. I had a cat that had breast cancer, the only thing this vet cared about was charging for $1000 plus for surgery but not cured. To prolonging a life not alleviate pain for the animal. Another vet told me that is easier for the people not the animals and he (the other vet ) said if you don't take ALL the mammal glands(breast tissue ) out and give chemotherapy, which doesn't work well for the animals anyway. My dog is my life. Roosevelt Animal hospital gets that. They have worked with me on appointment times, changed medications to better suit my dog and have just been generally easy to deal with. When we were out of the area and in need of her medical records they emailed them to me, no charge and with in minutes. Bottom line, my dog wags her tail and gets excited when I say we are going to the vet. She thinks it's the treat store. Can't ask for more than that. Read Less

A day or two after we first brought our kitty home from the shelter she developed a persistent cough. We took her to a vet down the road from us and they were unable to diagnose the issue or successfully treat it. So we decided to try Roosevelt. The vet had a hunch about the cough and prescribed some medicine and it did the trick! We were so grateful. That was 5 years ago and we have been taking our kitty to Roosevelt ever since. I recently recommended Roosevelt to a friend who also adopted a kitty with health issues that another vet couldn't help with and, same as with us, the vet was able to help her and her kitty is now happy and healthy as well. EDIT: This place is a joke. Took x-rays of my dog for a possible heart condition and then the doc said she was not well versed enough to read them. Said she was sending them to a radiologist to have them read. She DID NOT mention that there was an additional $150 fee for someone else to read them. I was also told that they would be getting back to me Wednesday with the results, yet it is Friday and they have been closed for the past 2 days. Do yourself a favor and try a different vet. Horrible service! The receptionists are..... no good. The one guy gave me very specific instructions on how/when to give 2 different pills to my dog, only for my wife to look at the labels later and find out what I was told was wrong. So I looked like an idiot to my wife.... Thanks buddy.... Had a similar issue with the other girl. We were supposed to receive a call when some tests were done and have not heard back. When I call at 10 AM on a Thursday, the machine says they are closed.....? The hours posted om their site on Google says they are open.... Finally, we had an emergency and called, got their VM and it said "in case of emergency call this number". Well we called that number and the recording said "Emergency services are not available at this time". Very poor experience and will be looking for a different place to take our pets. Read Less

Went there again to get Ollie his shots. The very positive vibe is still there! Ollie kinda has me wrapped around his....paw! He won't let me do any brushing, clipping, etc--The vet just showed him who was boss and he let her cut the hair around his eyes and derriere! Super friendly, knowledgeable, on time and caring. I would like to tell everyone a story !!! Last night I had to rescue a dog . At 930 pm , this dog is sick and only weighed 35 pounds and should be 45/50 pounds !!! No food or water ! I called dr Glassman that was coming home from a dinner with her kids , and with out me even getting to the story of what happened she rushed over to her vet office in Brewster , and helped me take care of this dog !!!! We contacted Roosevelt in late 2013 (sorry, late review!) because they do laparoscopic spaying; Dr. Glassman got back to us right away & explained that our toy poodle Ti was too small for that procedure, but that she could remove her ovaries only & thus keep the incision, & the trauma, to a minimum.  We drove up from NYC on a snowy morning.  The office was immaculate & we were very happy to see how kind & gentle everyone at the office was with her.  Dr. Glassman had explained the procedure already but let us ask more questions, & told us we could pick her up in a couple of hours.  The office is located in a strip mall; we wandered around the drugstore (where one of the office staffers saw us & reassured us that all was going well -- we must have looked rather nervous!) & then to the coffee shop for a quick sandwich.  We hadn't even finished eating when my husband's cellphone rang; surgery was done & we could get her.  Roosevelt offers the option of a Surgi-Shirt (a snug stretchy suit that keeps the dog from licking or biting the incision, & can be rolled up to let her urinate/defecate) -- much nicer than the Collar of Shame -- we have since used it like a Thundershirt to keep her calm under stress.  No carrier required: they put her straight into my arms, told us what to expect & how to take care of her & gave details on when she could begin taking her pain medication,& off we went back to the city with Ti curled up in my lap.  Other than a few whimpers when the car went over a bump, she had an easy trip home.  By evening she was quite interested in her dinner & then slept comfortably.  The pain meds the next day helped, & other than on the ride home, she didn't complain at all (as a rule, she is a very vocal poodle!).  When we took the shirt off her, we were amazed at how tiny the incision was.  It healed remarkably fast with no ill effects, & she was her usual energetic self from the second day on.  I would like to say again how extremely competent, compassionate & kind every person in the office was, & despite the distance, when it's time for a dental cleaning or anything beyond routine vaccinations, we will be very happy to make the trip. Don't bother with this place unless you like being overcharged and receiving borderline negligent services with a very rude receptionist.     I took my dog there and told them I wanted to be informed of prices before tests were run.   Dr. Glassman took my dog in the back, never told me what tests she was doing, and then stuck me with a $500+ bill WITH NO CONCLUSIVE OPINION as to what was wrong with the dog.    My sister took her puppy there to be spayed and they did not give the poor thing any pain medication.    When she got home with the dog it was crying pitifully in pain.    I was charged and made to pay in full for services that not only did I not receive, but that they refused to give and then refused to refund my money.     I have filed complaints with the state Attorney General's office over this extremely unprofessional veterinary practice and I urge you to LOOK ELSEWHERE for an honest and competent vet. We have used Roosevelt Veterinary Center for many many years.  Dr Glassman and Dr. Goldstein go above and beyond in every way to keep our animals healthy.  Every staff member is kind, compassionate and friendly.  Our new dog enjoys going in to see Kim (the receptionist) to get love and kisses! He would hang out there all day if we let him! Most animals don't like going to the vet,  but mine actually look forward to their visit at Roosevelt! I also appreciate the fact that they don't over charge you and do unnecessary procedures to hike up the bill.  They are fair and trustworthy and their love for animals is evident as soon as you walk through the door. I have had a wonderfull experience here and especially with Dr Glassman. She goes above and beyond to make sure my little lhasa apso is taken care of.
