After two different ointments/drops (Animax and Tresaderm) and a bunch of steroid and antibiotic shots (and of course hundreds of dollars later and weeks of administering ear drops to my cat day after day around the clock every 12 hours) my cat still has inflammation in her ears and has not been fully recovered. At my last visit I was told to continue with the second medication and when I'm out of it to start administering the first ointment that didn't do the job to begin with. A follow up was not scheduled this time as if they've given up on experimenting with my cat's ears and don't know how to cure my pet. Health related services for animals should improve ASAP in many places. And the Bronx Veterinary Center is another center that doesn't seem to know what it's doing wrong or how it could improve. The experience they offer feels first and foremost like a cold monetary transaction. And not like a center that should offer compassionate medical attention for your sick pet in need. Walk-ins cost $85, and a simple triage costs $45. Average wait time even with appointment is about 1 hour and 15 min (this was my 3rd and final visit to this Bronx Veterinary Center). Each visit I waited about the same time. Never going back.This time I took one of my two cats to the Bronx Veterinary Center for a bloated and almost rock-hard stomach sutuation. Repeated the same information or reason for visit to 4 different people before seeing the Vet. (Verification procedure or lack of efficiency?) Repeated same exact info to the greeter, the receptionist, the male-nurse, and finally to the actual Vet. (redundant service or unnecessary chit-chat?) Then unfortunately, the vet might have inspected my cat for only about 20 seconds, and only tells me they need to do an X-RAY and that it would $240... walked out the room, and then the male nurse's job was try to convince me why this was the only option. (huh?) Were they having a bad day? Did I have the unfortunate luck of speaking to one of their bad vets again? To start off, what I believe they need to improve on is to pay attention to their veterinary service experience they're offering (Their Brand Experience if you will) They should ask themselves "What is the Bronx Veterinary Center experience? How is it different from the competition? How can we improve it? Why should pets and their owners come back to us?". Animal patients should be given kind and close careful attention to offer the best possible treatments. The owners of the pets should be given clear options of treatments. The vet who barely helped us this time, was a little difficult to understand as well, accent and lack of details in explanation for treatments left me feeling "Huh?" But most importantly I just did not trust him, and now I do not have trust in the Bronx Veterinary Center. And trust, when it comes to offer medical treatment or attention to animals or humans is the last thing you should loose from a patient. I like the location and the short wait time. The technicians were very polite and affectionate with my kitty Tommy. I also like the affordable prices. The only thing that bothered me was the way the vet handled my pet. He didn't lay a finger on him, instead he just had the vet tech do everything and hold him up for inspection. It was like the vet was disgusted or above actually touching the animals. I understand the need for infection control but he could've at least put some gloves on to examine Tommy. This has been my place for pets for years now and they just get better every year. The owner and vets and staff are all marvelous, compassionate, and caring with all pets that come in. This place is a real blessing for pets. It's super clean. I have a diabetic cat, Shadow is his name. He was hospitalized here for a few days and when I went to pick up shadow all of the staff knew shadow and his personality in just a few days. For me this shows they are alert and take good care and interest in animals. This is so important for pet owners. The staff in this place is very well picked from what I can see. Thank mr. I absolutely love this vet! He is so welcoming and so are his staff. My dog got a anal gland abscess so I took him here today. He was very detailed which I love because now I wont be second guessing myself while cleaning my dogs wound. He listened to everything I had to say and even asked me if I had any more questions before leaving the room. I love that it never feels like just business. He always finds a way to make you laugh. Horrible vet. I came in with a baby Pitbull who had a broken elbow. They over charge!!! They took xrays told me her bone was hitting a nerve and I need urgent surgery or amputation, they wrapped my puppies arm, and then I went to Morris Park animal hospital, they said there was absolutely nothing wrong with her nerves showed me her pressure points and she was absolutely fine and needed a cast. The staff are very friendly. I went there for the first time and was a bit disappointed. I kept telling the vet my dog caught a flea, her eye was foggy, she kept licking her paws and were red, and I wasn't sure what vaccines were due and I had all the paper work. He only did something for her eye and sent me home. I got a called and complained due to him not listening to what I said before but I give it 4 stars because I got a free vet visit and the vet actually did something about all of my concerns. First of, I had to look at the photos and make sure I would leave my honest experience to the correct business. From the photos I know I have the correct business and location. So let’s get to the core of their service. Awful! They overbook, and overlook. My two cats went in for spaying, they gave me back two peed on and filthy pets. My cats must’ve been marinating on piss for I don’t know how long. Second, one of my cats developed hoarseness and a cough right after the surgery. I brought the cat several times to only find the vet kept wanting to pump my cat with antibiotics and nothing was working. 4 different visits and they could not find a cause and “the only solution” was more antibiotics. Horrible! My purpose is to make the consumer aware and to beware of leaving your pet overnight or allow any surgery. Worst case, just go in for shots because at least you can have an eye on what is being performed to your pets. Read Less

Customers beware. Don't say I did not warn you. First of, I got a groupon on this place for dental cleaning thinking I'd save $$$ but there's a catch, well, a lot of it.  They want you to book an appt prior to the dental procedure which will cost you $45 on a scheduled one and $85 for walk-ins.  By the time your appt arrives, they charge you right on the spot. I had insurance for my dogs before but never, i say never I was charged before they were seen.  So it goes the doctor came in w/o introducing who he is and obviously they wanted to sell me.something.  He quickly looked at their teeth and as I've said they needed bloodwork and one of my pups would need extractionS.  There were 3 of them in the room, the vet, a guy who juat talks about selling and a woman who's on the computer. Who the hell needs 3? Anyway, i asked the doctor how much will it cost for everything. He immediately was uncomfortable and said it's the job of the other guy. Lol.  So this guy explains to me that the groupon does not include extractions, the iv, mostly everythibg needed before they start freaking cleaning my dogs teeth.  So the bloodwork came out for $300 for both dogs. I said ok since its been awhile. I asked the lady who tells me about it, how many test are involve in the price?  Unfortunately, they care only about the $$$ so I filled her up and asked her if it was a complete one.  She said yes. I ok'd the price and immediately they want me to pay upfront b4 the procedure.  WTF?!  After the payment, they took the dogs separately and brought them back after a minute or so. Voila! $90+$300 and no freaking dental.  They told me the results would come up the next day.  After I paid, they said most PROBABLY after a few days.  IF things are good then we can proceed. I' m actually thinking of just spending the groupon I got for something else at thos vet before i reach thousands.  Really not worth it guys.  Really shady.  I am bringing my dogs to my former vet and have their teeth cleaned there.  Come to think of it...it's much way cheaper. Great prices! BUT!! The vets don't check your dog really. They just look at them and that's it. I could just look at a dog and say good to go guys! I told the doctor for a couple of years that my dog keeps lifting her paw up when we touch it or get close to it and they brushed it off. When it became visible that there was something wrong with her back legs they suggested a couple of places and the one we went to was on the East side of Manhattan. Honestly they brushed that question off too. It wasn't till my baby girl turned 4 years that we learned after taking her to the Best Vet in White Plains NY that she had Autoimmune Disease. my dog (English Cocker Spaniel) had an ingrown nail that was really hurting her back paw. the vets saw her immediately and performed a thorough check. they also checked and cleaned her ears. the entire procedure took only 30 minutes, it was also affordable (only paid about 102 dollars for everything. very irresponsible staff and owner, they over medicated my dog because of the staff that took care of my dog never documented and kept a record of the medicine that was being given to my dog and when I try to explain myself to the staff and owner about the situation ( because they wanted to keep giving my dog a medication that he already got 2 days ago that didn't work, again.  because the staff didn't document the meds he gave him the first time) the owner became very defensive and childish about the whole matter( at times making fun of me and being very disrespectful and saying when u done talking, to let him know) like if I didn't know what I was talking about.. in fact at the end it got very ugly owner jump in my face like if he wanted to fight me I look at this little man and gave him a warning to back up b4 I beat the shit out him! and that's when his own staff jump in and separated him from my face and rushed him in to the back, and with all that the little gangster still wanted to break away and still be confrontational.. I told the staff members that was listening that if I didn't bring my own stool sample (because they never followed up with that either I would have never known that he still was sick) it was me that brought that sample in to see if my dog still had the Hook worms( Which is contagious may I add and I have a 5 year old son who could possibly been infected waiting for doctors result) and I got charged for it may I add 28 dollars, for them to check the stool sample.. when it was part of the package I had already pay for.. but I paid for it anyway because I had my dog best interest, and they had there interest on the money they can get out of me and the people that goes there. Never the less I was thrown out and told to never come back! Like if I was the one that became disrespectful, My dog was never treated properly for his sickness after spending over 400 hundred dollars over the past month and a half. Bunch of crooks who over charge people and pray on there Vulnerability, sadly to say my lawyer is now looking in to the matter and could possibly now be Filing papers for a lawsuit base on  Negligence and discrimination!!  now I have to take my dog somewhere else and spend more money to get my dog back to normal and healthy again.. people beware they smile in your face and charge you for it at the end, and still wont get nothing done.. just sharing my experience and storie of what happened to me this pass Wednesday, Read Less

Every time I took my dog to this place, the veterinarian always rushed us out. We kept coming here because it was convenient for us. Last time I brought him here, they didn't bother to check his lungs via X-rays even though I complained about his breathing and little did we know, our dog had lung cancer. Our dog is gone now and this place failed to give us a proper diagnosis  we literally had to put him to sleep because he couldn't breath anymore!!! In the blink of an eye!!! I am extremely disappointed that I am left with no choice but to leave a bad review for the center. We have gone here for several years the staff and technicians are good although their doctors seem to give differing opinions and diagnoses. We have a kitty who has had mouth issues, plaque buildup etc and we have done several plaque removals, because the doctors said this was causing swelling and irritation which it no doubt was.  This time the irritation continued after the removal so my wife and I felt that there must be other damage perhaps a cavity, or abscess etc, but  Dr Katz comes in and says he's 99% sure it's seizures and there's a medication that isn't out yet that is safe and can be used to control convulsions.  My wife was distraught to find out our cat had issues that were brain related, and we canceled the x-rays and waited for the medication to come in.  As we waited I couldn't help but feel it wasn't seizures.  I scheduled x-rays and today I dropped off kitty at 11:30 since she needed to be sedated.  At 3 I get a call from Dr Katz and he says he doesn't think they'll get to kitty today.  He condescendingly told me again me again telling me he's sure it's seizures but he'd do the X-rays if we insisted but if the x-rays come back normal than it's seizures.  I'm thinking to myself why is he so gung ho about it being seizures.  We did insist on x-rays.  He then calls my wife, not me, to inform her that he's in total agreement that it's erosions of the gums and not seizures.  At this point I'm frustrated and something's not adding up.  Why was he so adamant it was seizures and I jokingly say to my wife you know doctors get kick backs from medical companies for prescribing drugs, she says oh no, I didn't think to mention to you but I think it's his company.. WTF?!?!?Coincidence?  I'm not sure and it may or may not be but You decide...But it doesn't end there. I understand mistakes happen however the problem continued as they never told us what time to pick up our cat. Their website says they are open until 7 so my wife showed up at 6:05 and the place is locked and closed. I left several messages with the answering service who promised me that the owner Nicole would call us back and now we are standing outside of the center for the last hour waiting for a technician or somebody to call us back so that we can retrieve our pet for the evening. I am extremely disappointed I have to leave this review (and appalled at the conflict of interest of this diagnosis).  I'm hoping someone calls me back tonight but as things stand they have just lost a customer that has been with them for five years.Update:  no call or response from ownership, but a technician was taking out the trash and we were let in and Jessica helped us get kitty released.  Jessica was amazing and shocked at what transpired.  Again the staff there is great, but the ownership is absent, the doctors confused in our opinion and possibly conflicted in interest.  This is our last visit and we urge anyone who has a seizure diagnosis from Dr Katz he may be right but we think you may want to get a second opinion or use all means to rule out alternate possible causes. When I picked up my cat last week from staying at the vet for 3 days to get liquids to treat his kidney disease I felt the doctor was a little short and in a hurry to move on to the next patient. I realize it was extremely busy but just felt he could have taken a little more time to speak to us and explain things. When I took my cat back yesterday for a follow up, I felt he was more attentive and took more time to explain things. I do like that the staff will call you to follow up to see how your pet is doing. Amazing! I never been to this place let alone even knew it existed. My cat has (I'm here now so I'm not sure what it is) a cyst on her face and my vets office doesn't take walk ins anymore. Safe to say we needed to find a place quick before something bad happens. We were able to get a 10:30 walk in which was fine. Not only was the customer service great but the place is super clean! I cannot say enough about the BVC, they saved Nena's life. My baby came in with an open pyometra  and only 50% chance of making it. I believe her name was Alexa (if it she sits in the front and checks me out all the time)who helped me, she was so kind and took care of us. The whole staff is wonderful and loving. Wow I am so impressed by this clinic. My 3 week old puppy was sick and throwing up and pooping worms as a new puppy owner I was so worried and looked for animal hospitals near by. I had called all over the city but none would pick up and it was a Sunday. Than I called Bronx veterinary center since I saw it was near me. Once I called the receptionist picked up and was very sweet and  informative and made sure I got an appointment which was around $50 and a walk in was $80  but later I decided to change it to a walk in  because I was worried and wanted to get there as soon as possible. Once me and my brother got there we signed in and waited for a while because there was a lot of dogs that day. They assured us since it was full we had to wait a little longer but they were so attentive. Than another person in the front desk asked us about the puppy's information and how much the fee was going to be in total which was $90 including fecal samples we had. He told us we would pay in the end.Once we were called in the nurse told us what she had and assured us it was in-fact worms. They treated us so well and the doctor was very nice and told us everything we needed to know. Everyone that saw her was being so sweet with her and we got a few laughs in. The doctor even made her do the Michael Jackson moonwalk haha. She got her medicine for  the deworming process and than they told us the total was about $102. Which was pretty affordable and another receptions took her and gave us a free nail trim. They told us we would get our results through my email and today I received a call asking me how my puppy Ginger was doing. She is coming in next week for the final deworming process. I am giving this place a 5 star because it seems that they enjoy what they are doing  and treat everyone the same you can see they work hard to make everyone's needs met.Even with a lot going on they are very patient and sweet I would defiantly recommend this place for anyone who has a small puppy and doesn't know much or any pet lover. The staff was very professional and very knowledgeable in there subject matters . They even called me the next day to ask about my dog. This place is absolutely incredible! My former vet clinic was the absolute WORST & I thought that is how these animal hospitals are suppose to be. But boy was I WRONG! My Chihuahua Cookie was having really bad diaherra & I did all I could do when it came to home remedies. So I called Monday morning at 9am. I wanted to know if they take walk ins. A very nice receptionist answered the phone & told me yes they do (however i do recommend an appointment so you don't have to pay extra for the walk in but i had no issue with this)They can see me at 10:30. I came in at 10:25. It was extremely clean & everyone greeted me & my dog. I was seen at 10:35.The vet tech was a very nice young man who made jokes & got all of the important information for the vet. The vet came in & told me exactly what Cookie needed & said verbatim "I don't want you to spend any extra money that's not necessary." CAN U BELIEVE THAT!? He was concerned about my pockets! I absolutely loved that because we all know that vets are expensive.They gave me 3 medications that should clear her problem in a week. They want me to take a stool sample & they emptied her anal glands for $165 in total!! Affordable is an understatement. I brought $300 with me because I was expecting more honestly. Took my dog because she had a vaginal prolapse. They did bloodwork and the staff was very nice. They gave me the full rundown of what has to happen. My dog also has a tumor on her mammory gland. The vet assistant, Jazmine, I believe (short hair cool hair and tats) really put me at ease on the first and second day I was there. She told me she would keep me updated and really showed that she truly cared for my dog. The surgeon was straight forward and gave me lots of information and they explained my dogs bloodwork. So far they are fantastic! I will update this review. My dog is staying overnight for 2 nights because she will get spayed and the tumor removed. They have to keep her to monitor her liver since that was slightly off according to her bloodwork. She is an old lady so I feel happy that they are being extra cautious with her!UPDATE: The whole experience was awesome! Without words. They were nice till the end and truly showed that they cared about my dog. They even cut her nails and trust me they were not good. I simply love them. Definetly will make them my number one spot. Went to their new location at Westchester Square, totally incompetent staff!!I made an appt for a pet I just adopted, arrived 25 mins prior and was told I didn't have an appt, then they check further an say I made my appt at the Webster site, i tell them the number I called then the girls say I took your appt, the phone must have transferred. This place is awesome.  Staff are very empathetic and kind. My pup passed out from heat exhaustion and they were efficient and nice. After some blood work turns out he had diabetes and liver was malfunctioning and sadly my baby Tobytaz passed away on Saturday 22nd. I went as a walk-in after my cat escaped and didn't come back for 25 hours. We immediately took him to the vet (only a 45 minute wait and that place was PACKED), where my cat was more interested in playing with DR. Katz and rolling around on the table instead of getting checked up. Haha... It's always a pleasure to come there. The doctor is kind, knowledgable, and really seems to enjoy what he does for a living. We've been long time customers and I remember taking our cats and dogs to Dr. Katz when I was a little girl. I've been attending this veterinary center since 2013 with my dog Bella who is my baby and they always take good care of her, they're well organized and have well mannered staff who never make me feel uneasy about the steps they're taking for my baby. Last night my baby had some trouble in her tummy I got there as soon as the doctor was there and they checked her out gave me her medicine and just made my trip with her to the vet quick and easy. No dog likes the vet to my knowledge lol but Bella always feels good with the staff and they treat her well. They maintain the center very clean and welcoming but because they are very thorough with their exams make sure to go with enough time because you may wait a while and then spend even more time with the doctor himself. This was my first time there. The staff and the doctors are concerned for my pets care. Unfortunately, one of my pets was terminately ill and had to be put down. My initial impression on my first visit, was the cleanliness of the large waiting room and exam rooms. Always a comfortable temperature, even in a heat wave. The reception personnel are ultra friendly, intelligent and helpful. The techs are so sensitive you you and your pet's needs. I love the doctor! He is the perfect picture of who you want to entrust with your pet's welfare: tender, experienced, personable and informative. On top of this, it is so affordable! I was greeted in less than sixty seconds of coming into the office. The team at the receptionist area were all friendly. Everything was explained to me. I was offered coffee and shown how to work the machine....it was appreciated. This visit was to inspect and a checkup for my dog which I was looking to board for the holidays. I was impressed, it didn't smell like animals were there although it was evident do to the dogs barking. I look forward to boarding my door after her visit. I'll do another review. Been at this clinic several times with my dog for shots and teeth cleaning. I must say the service is better. I remember the first couple of times had to wait for doctors to arrive, what's the point of the first appointment if doctors are late. But this last visit everything was great! I have a 12 week old puppy and I brung him in for a check up and shots for the first time. they said he has parasites and gave me crappy medicine that only made him worse!! the woman in the front desk look like they are bored with their job and don't want to be there. especially one young lady with glasses, very white, light curly hair. she attended me with soo much attitude!!! DR katz is awesome!! very considerate and caring.. But he needs a more friendlier staff. DR katz offers me cheap prices and the idiots in the front desk always want to charge me more. they never tell me the right information. As soon as my puppy gets better.. It's a shame that this hospital is called the Bronx Veterinary Center because if this is the best the Bronx has to offer that is just pathetic. I've never taken my cat to Park Ave vets, but I know their claim to offer ""Park Avenue Care"" is about as empty as they come. Pure hogwash. My cat's been seeing these vets for over 7 years now (she also received care at the previous location). Their lack of professionalism has become more apparent, now that my cat's health has become more delicate in her older age. In the past year, she's been to these vets on 4 separate occasions. In this time they've managed to screw up a blood sample, so she had to return for them to do it on another day. In this time, they've called me giving another cat's blood results. In this time they've managed to have her in the hospital for 4 consecutive days (expensive!), and send her home with nothing more than generic antibiotics (also expensive!). The vet that she has seen most often seems to have lost almost all passion for his job, as he is lethargic and insensitive. He mentioned my cat's (old) age a couple times, as if not much should be expected. His insensitive emphasis on her old age is probably just a ploy for them to give her subpar treatment. Believe me those things just top the list. In sum, they've done nothing for her ongoing ailment of vomiting and losing weight. There are a lot of positive reviews for this business, which I admit has been satisfactory in the past, but of late they have dropped the ball far too often and when it really counts. Based on my recent experiences there is NO way they can be considered a ""top of the line"" animal hospital. Read Less

There were many but to share one example; When my pet was ill Dr. Katz was sincerely concerned about her condition, he followed up on her well being long after the bill was paid.
