Took my Sister and Soldier(Dog) here because we thought he had Scrotum Cancer. They were accommodating and caring. I don't live in the City, but my Sister do, so we had to coordinate schedules and change dates multiple times. Soldier is back to his old self, playful and ready to be rubbed. One thing I did not like or understand: Soldier needed medicine and the prescription had to be picked up from 92th Avenue. Why couldn't we go to Yonkers Pet Store or equivalent? It would have been easier. The prescription was put in at 12:00pm and would not have been ready until 2:00 - 5:00pm. Well if anybody knows city traffic, it is a nightmare! I was especially impressed with the way the vet assistants/ techs were able to handle my very difficult to handle dog for the exam. I have 5 cats and I really enjoy bringing them to this clinic because everyone treats me and my cats with a lot of love and care and everything is explained and very understanding and the price is affordable. My cat knight had a hurt leg and my smallest cat Luna needed shots.everything went smooth. The decisions are made between me and the doctor and the nurses for what's best for my cats. Visiting the vet can be a stressful time. Your beloved pet is in a great deal of pain and many times you have no idea how much the vet visit will cost. I read the reviews for this place and assumed I wouldn't be taken advantaged of. I was clearly wrong. My dog was feeling discomfort in his ears and I assumed it was an ear infection. I took him to the vet to confirm my suspicion. After an ear swab test, my suspicion was correct, my dog had yeast in his ear. The vet prescribed ear wash & ear ointment. Both products weren't cheap, they were 3x the price they are online. But that isn't the issue, I expected a mark-up. However, I didn't expect the following. The vet asks me if I know how to use ear wash, I respond not really. He tells me one of the assistants were going to come in to show me. The vet leaves, the assistant comes in and performs a demonstration on my dog. Fast forward to payment, I get slapped with a $298 bill that includes a ear cleaning charge for $38!!! I never asked for an ear cleaning and the vet definitely did not tell me I was being charged for the demonstration. I complained because damn $38 for an ear cleaning is expensive either way. Nonetheless, I paid. Moral of the story, these people are extremely sneaky and try to take advantage of vulnerable people who just want their pets to be okay. Make sure to always review your receipt before you leave! Can't stress that enough. Read Less

Super bad experience-- took my kitten there and doctor was very concerned about charging the most money possible. He recommended that I hospitalize my kitten for $800. Naturally, I refused and said they could try another treatment that costs $300. After I told them I only had $70, they offered to give me half of the treatment and I would have to come back to pay for the rest. I felt like they were unconcerned about kitten and only cared about the money. I went to the Bronx Veterinary Center instead. They charged me $150 for the same treatment. Every time my puppy King comes they take care of him always on time!! I have never truly waited very long specially if I make an appointment and even when I just do the walk ins too. We have been there about 3 times now, for annual pysical, Because he was sick and his shots due to the fact they have a really good special one time a month for them. The vet he is truly amazing!! When an abandoned cat that I had found became ill on a Sunday, shortly after being spayed through a TNR program, I brought her to Riverdale Veterinary Group. She was treated and I brought her home, but she continued to go down hill. I brought her back the following Tuesday, when she was admitted to the hospital. Although I was expecting the worst, I was pleased to receive a call from Dr. Palmeri the following day, telling me that Misty was doing much better. I was very appreciative of the fact that Dr. Palmeri was able to diagnose, and correct Mistys condition, without the use of more invasive diagnostic procedures. I was also pleased that the front office staff showed compassion and concern towards Mistywho is now a healthy cat. Dr. Palmeri is an excellent vet. Read Less

Everyone there is friendly, caring & kind! My lil Chihuahua, Jem will race me in just to say hello when we're walking past & recently she had knee surgery to repair her luxating patella & shattered acl. Dr Fried is a wonderful Dr. He takes care of our English Bulldog, Zoey, and is helping us buy a Rhodesian Ridgeback. When he is with Zoey his bedside manner is that of patience and knowledge. I cannot stress enough just how much he cares not just about our dog, but all animals. I am happy his office is always busy, because that shows how much pet owners love their pets. I scheduled my first appointment with Dr. Fried at the Riverdale Veterinary Group a week prior for a 1/2/15 appointment at 4:00pm. Today 12/30/14 I received a call from someone in his group saying that Dr. Fried would not be there due to a change in his schedule, that I should call back to reschedule for an earlier time that day. When I called to reschedule for an earlier time, the guy I spoke to said that he could give me a 1:00pm appointment because the dr. has a 1:15pm appointment already booked, and his last appointment is at 1:30pm that day. Really, my appointment was for two dogs, was the dr. only going to grant me 71/2 minuets for each dog. I am not looking for a vet that basis his practice and work ethic on seeing his clients dogs as if it were an assembly line with a window of 5 to 7 minuets upon which to complete the work. We the clients Dr. Fried, want the best possible care for our animals and the attention they deserve, and we the owners are paying for. So even before setting my foot in the door, I know that this Riverdale Veterinary Group is not the sort of place were my dogs would receive the care and attention they deserve and we the owners would hope to get for them.
