I can't say enough good things about Dr. Gambino.  I switched to this vet for my two cats and it was a great decision.  Dr. Gambino is knowledgeable, friendly, easy to talk to and most of all trustworthy.  I never feel that she is trying to sell me on procedures that my cats don't need just to pad the bill.  All around a great vet. Its really hard to find vets you can trust in this city. Theres a new wave of vets that will prey upon your vulnerability when your pet is sick. And after bringing a few cats here, theyve earned my trust. Really professional empathetic and communicative staff, clean facility and the fees are reasonable. The only thing i can fault them on is their website (a phone number is wrong) and booking confusion between their two locations. I made an appointment once, dragged my cat there only to find out they were closed there that day and everyone was at the other location 10 avenues away. I highly recommend Brooklyn Vet Gp. for your pet. They are the most caring, understanding, reasonably priced & qualified Veterinarians and I've been to many. I was a loyal customer for a little over 13 yrs.  They were recommended to me when I bought my Jack Russel puppy, Cody, who passed away on 2/17. I loved that dog as much as a child and miss him terribly.  That day was one of the worst days of my life but they made it bearable. I can't thank them enough. They let me take all the time I needed to wait for my family and be with Cody as long as we needed without ever interrupting or disturbing us.  When his ashes were ready for pick up I could not believe how beautiful the cherrywood box was that contained his ashes and had his name carved in it as well. I took our cat in for a check-up, he was having some issues with loose stool. Our appointment was at 11am and I was in the exam room at11:10am. He got some meds the help his gut bacteria - the visit and medicine came to less than $80. I was out of their offices by 11:40am so all in all I was pleased with the visit. The Dr was really cool, too. I have to wait and see if the cat is cured of course, but the visit was painless which is a great start! Read Less

Beware if your dog has any ear issues!! My poor little dog had ear mites which would have been an easy cure, but he had me convinced it was some sort of allergy. So every few months I would have to go back to have her ears cleaned out, my dog would cry and he said she was an actress!! My girlfriend recommended this place as she's been taking her dog there for a while now. The vets there are all helpful but we specifically look for Dr. Gambino when we arrive. The wait time isn't too bad as you'd expect full attention and consideration when it comes to your turn. The price is not the most pricey seeing that I've tried other locations. Even after hours, their phone line connects to the emergency line at the hospital and they'll answer any questions you may have. It's the first time my dog has ever been so excited and happy at the vet. Normally he's terrified of entering any vet but not this one. We had a wonderful experience with one of the vet tech there named Anna. She was so gentle with my dog. I would highly recommend anyone bringing their pet to this place. Great doctors! Awesome Vet techs! We love Dr. Pernice . Our Beagle Chloe as a puppy had some mysterious issues. After spending hundreds of dollars at a Bay Ridge vet, Brooklyn Vet Group was recommended to me and I couldn't be happier. Dr. Pernice diagnosed Chloe with an enlarged spleen. After so much wasted time and money at a vet that could care less, Dr. Pernice took the time to diagnose and treat our pup, as well as explain to us what was going on with her. .All Staff members truly love the animals. Front desk is great and call with results asap. For the most part, we've been seen close to our appointment time. The last few times I've been there I had to wait about 1 hour each time in a room, even with an appointment. My dog also needed a special shampoo, they told me that I can come by anytime to pick up the shampoos as needed. When I called to ask for the shampoo, they made an excuse saying that we needed to see the Dr first and that it's been too long since we saw her (meanwhile it was less than 6 months ago). Dr. Pernice and his staff here are absolutely incredible - first class service! My dog got really sick a few weeks ago, Dr. Pernice was quick to discover why he was sick and how we can treat him. This was my first time visiting this place after my other vet recently closed down. Dr. Pernice called a few days later to check up on my dog and he personally told me to reach out to him if something changes. I don't live in Bayridge, but I will always make the trip to this practice. Most importantly for me, they do not over-treat or under-treat my dog. Every staff member I've dealt with seems balanced in that way. I came here after I felt our former vet was trying to add on as many diagnostics and treatments as he could. But I have never felt this way in dealing with Doctors Gambino and Martin (I have not yet met Dr. Pernice.). For example, today we came in for a pre-dental visit. While his teeth don't look perfect, Dr. Martin said it is fine to wait six months until February when dental cleanings are discounted. This makes me hold her and her opinions in high regard, because I know she will not recommend treatments my dog does not need. I also had a great conversation with vet tech Melissa, who answered many small questions I had. And the ladies at the desk are not only professional, but I have always seen them cheerful and compassionate to everyone on the phone or at the counter. Some of the doctors here are very good but a bit confused. Some are just terrible. Be careful who you make an appt with. We prefer Dr. Martin. Some of the technicians are good. Depends on their level of stress. I really dislike the receptionists. You call and are immediately on hold. I have waited up to 5 minutes to be picked up. Not in an emergency, but what if it were? They may be super busy but....Also, their voices are so angry sounding! It different in person. It seems Dr. Pernice likes a front of gangsters protecting his lobby and phones. I began taking my first dog to BVG, 25 years ago. A couple of years after that, when I was 16 years old, I interned there before college. Working behind the scenes, impressed me even more; seeing the level of care and knowledge, and empathy, demonstrated by All staff members for the animals and their owners, made it clear what BVG was all about...Excellence and Authenticity. Many of those that I worked with long ago, are still there after all this time, because it's just that kind of place - one of dedication and superiority. Last thing, getting an appointment and exemplary animal care has never been compromised in my 25 years with them, nor has it for friends that take their animals there either. On only a few occasions did I have to wait a bit, but it was for an animal emergency. I have no problem with that, however, because I know my animal would get the same level of care too. The reception staff are always courteous, kind and willing to help you with an appointment plus you never get put on hold automatically, they'll ask and the wait is never long. The office is very clean and home friendly for the animals and owners. Doctor Pernice is a wonderful veterinarian who truly cares for animals from the heart. The whole staff are very experienced and knowledgable and exhibit an excellent 'bedside' manner for the pets brought in to them, which is rare and hard to find today. One of the best vet experiences I've had to date. Customer service was incredible,very clean facility, front desk was helpful as well as professional and courteous. Dr. Martin was gentle, very loving, patient and able to answer any and all question I threw at her. The assistant (or technician, not sure) William, very amable and by the far the only person who could handle my figidty pug professionally and with care.. We both walked out more than happy, well maybe not my pug so much lol. More than happy with the care and service. They did great work with my difficult kitty. I got her microchipped and it was quick and efficient. The Brooklyn Veterinary Group, in my opinion, might be the best veterinary establishment in Brooklyn. I take my dog to this place regularly- the veterinarians are thoughtful and do excellent jobs. They are extremely kind and act that way not only to you, but to your pet as well. The vets examine thoroughly and listen carefully and quietly to your issues and usually solves them easily. I have seen many pet veterinary groups in the past, this one would definitely go on my list as number one, easily.The service is perfect. The receptionists are also very kind, unlike your typical veterinary groups where the receptionists can get a bit unkind. If you are looking for a perfect vet group to bring your pet to, this is definitely the place, easily. I cannot stress that enough, come here and experience it yourself. We really only come once a year since our pup rarely has issues. We've met with Dr Pernice and then Dr Sweeney when he was out. They renovated in the last year so the office and waiting area looks great. The service is pretty quick and they genuinely seem to care about our animals. After calling ahead and being told it would be about 75$ to deworming and check out an abandoned kitten I took in, I was charged close to 150$I'm disabled And don't have any spare cash these days yet these people as nice as they were took it upon themselves to overcharge me by double.   This is a stray kitten that needed help for gosh sakes, and they still ripped me off.  Even after i told them it would be coming out of my family food money for the week the demanded payment in full.  These people are in it for the money and only the money.  yes they love animals but they love money more.  Dont be fooled.  No good deed goes unpunished in this city! Dr. Sweeney is the BEST!When I first got my rabbit, Dr. Sweeney was the vet I found after many hours of searching and my searching paid off! We LOVE Dr. Sweeney!She's compassionate, understanding and truly cares about your pet. She takes the time to get to know you and your pet and is a pleasure to visit.My rabbit is not doing so well now and after many visits to a "specialist" (who we didn't like by the way), we were finally able to see Dr. Sweeney again. She is making this time much better for us and I can't imagine having another vet care for my animals.The front desk staff are great as well!
