This is a long review. If you care about your pets, please read all of it. This is terrible and frightening place for your pets. Let me start off by saying I took my two pets here for the past four years, and didn't really have a problem with the staff or the vets; any surgeries that were performed resulted in healthy, happy pets. I had heard from many other pet parents that this clinic had a bad reputation for trying to scam people for their money, and had little respect for the animals they were treating. Granted I didn't really believe it from the successful spaying of both my dog and cat, but then again I was not the one paying. Recently I started fully caring for my pet sphynx, she moved in with me in the month of February. She developed a growth on her inner left thigh, and the vet who did a full check up on her (the American one, not sure of her name) recommended we do a growth removal surgery. She also examined her teeth and said they looked beautiful and that she could tell I keep my cat fully groomed. On the day of the surgery, I was told to bring her in at 9:30 for pre-examinations that would take place for about an hour and a half, at which point the doctor assigned to the surgery (Valentina/Vlad Anurov) would come at 11AM to start the surgery. My cat and I arrived about 10 minutes early, and I was told then that actually the doctor would arrive at 11:30AM. Knowing my cat, I asked if I could stay while she was getting her tests done because she is not trusting of anyone at all except me, and could become slightly aggressive if she is scared. The response was a simple "No", and i reasoned that if Moonlight (my cat) were to become aggressive, they would hold her down with thick gloves and sedate her, as to not traumatize her physically or mentally. I left Moonlight in the hands of the technicians at 9:30AM. I then received a call at 2PM, informing me that the surgery was about to begin. (Please note, this is now 4 and a half hours after i dropped her off at the clinic and left her alone and scared.) They called to ask permission to set up an IV line to make sure Moonlight wouldn't get dehydrated and stated the cost would be approximately $100. After my positive response, the girl (Oksana) then informed me that they examined her teeth (why?) and discovered they were rotten and that she would need five extractions. She asked me if i wanted to perform the extractions that same day, to which my response was no. (Firstly, because the other vet said her teeth were in great condition and I don't see how in a span of two weeks they could have gotten SO rotten, and secondly because why in the WORLD would you call and ask if I wanted to do another surgery that was not at all talked about on the same day??) The clinic called around 5:30pm, when I picked Moonlight up, the technician brought her out and checked her front paws (which was weird). She gave me two medications, saying both of them were antibiotics (false, one was an antibiotic, the other was a very powerful pain medication used after sever physical injuries, trauma, or serious surgery; Buprenorphine). Every staff member in the clinic commented that my cat was very aggressive. Two days later i discovered huge dry, bloody, scabbing all over Moonlight's body, specifically her right front paw (checked at pickup), right back paw, and her stomach. The scabbing looked like she had been tied up. (view the pictures) Her appetite was gone for a week and a half (she lost a lot of weight, specifically 1.5 pounds). I was told they did a teeth cleaning but i was not charged nor was I informed, which is illegal (doctors cannot preform any procedures without receiving consent). I also asked for her medical records for all of the years she was treated at that clinic. They did not want to release all of her medical records to me, and when i asked if i received everything, they said "everything that is relevant". (I only received test results from February and May of 2018). Friday she got her stitches removed, the staff was rude and cold. When I asked the technician if I could speak with my cat's doctor, she said "for what?" When I insisted, I was told the doctor is not in the clinic. He then came out of the back room a minute later, saw me, and went right back inside. Saturday night (one day later) my cat's incision opened back up and she was bleeding, Sunday morning I took her back to Oceanside to give them one more chance to treat her. The doctor (who wasn't in) told the tech to tell me "since it's not an emergency, you can come back tomorrow or leave your car here over night." ??????? This was a physically and emotionally traumatizing experience for my sweet cat, and I strongly suggest you find a different clinic if you want your precious pets to be treated with love and respect.
