Scheduled an appointment for a nail clipping. My fee was DOUBLED without warning. My dog came out bleeding and left blood stains on their floor. The tech said my dog was "difficult" which was reason for the price increase. My dog's been to various places for nail trimming and not once did anyone mention anything like this before. Nobody here came out to tell me, "hey, your dog is being difficult and we'll have to double your fee. Would you like to move forward?" That would've been the more professional approach. The thoughtless tech just came out with my dog, back right paw bleeding, and said you have to pay double. End result? Not only did we have words with their vet, we did NOT pay their ridiculous fee and we are never, never, NEVER, ever returning to this hell hole  "hospital". To the tech that butchered my dog: you took advantage of a dog that cowers easily bc she was abused by her previous owner. Shame on you. Read Less

Going to One Love really makes me feel better about the state of the world. This is quite something as my last visits were about my dog Max was attacked in the dog park and had a gaping puncture wound in his neck.The staff are excellent and helpful, when they heard the news they made room in their schedule so that he could be seen that day. They were considerate, kind and efficient with their response and after a couple of visits Max is almost back to full health. The team there call daily to check in on his progress and are always available and patient with any concerns I have.One of the things I appreciate is the price. I used to live in Soho and would leave the vet feeling fleeced. One Love's prices are very reasonable (compared to other NY vets) and they don't always charge for everything they could do. We love One Love Animal Hospital. They have taken such great care of Milo, our 10ish year old Maltese. It's always easy to get an appointment, the reception staff are great, and all of the vets are attentive and smart. Milo recently had a weird reaction to some vaccines and they were able to get him in within minutes and watched him until we were in the clear. Similarly, he also had to have some teeth pulled and Dr. Katie walked me through each step and made sure I was informed all the way through. My husband and I will be lifelong clients and fans. The very first thing I am going to say we are so GLAD we left One Love!! As for those who has no experience with vet--this place is totally bonkers and bizarre.Long story short, this is the first time we have a dog, so we are new to all pet things including the vet.  We thought it was okay/normal at the very beginning with One Love, and then something went wrong on the following visits so we decided to switch the vet and found out One Love was totally a crazy scheme.Let me jump right into the reasons why we don't recommend this place-1. DoctorsOur dog had seen two doctors at One Love, they were not professional from all aspects. One of the doctors (Dr. T) was reluctant to respond to our concerns or even a question.  One time we found our god had bleeding gum, so we asked the doctor to exam it. The Dr. just sat back said" hmm, I will take a look while giving her a shot in the back room."  Then in the end, she DIDN'T do it. She just acted like she didn't even care about it. I asked the nurse what did doctor say about the gum bleeding, the nursed sneered at my questions and said the Dr. didn't take a look.2. Nurse/ TechniciansI highly doubt there has no a real nurse in One Love.They are the worst! It's okay for them showing no passions to animals, but it's never okay for them treating our pets like nothing. One time, my dog was shivering badly after getting a vaccine shot in the backroom, and then I found that the nurse didn't put her harness back on hook and when I was about to ask him what's going on in the back, he he was giggling and saying: "your dog's very smelly because she steps on something gross in the backroom." And he left.3. ExpenseAgain, we have no experience with the vet before, so when we see the bill we were like "wow that's VERY expensive but maybe that's the way of the vet charges?" And now, we know that's not normal at all after we switch to a real vet with professional and experienced doctors and nurses.  Every time when I chat with a dog owner on the street, no body loves One Love. The best vets I have ever seen. I have had pets for 20 + years and have experienced the amazing care that the drs offer at one love. My dog is scared of the vet and every doctor gets down on the ground and sits with until he is calm. They are the kindest drs. Never in a hurry and they always take time to make sure every question you have is answered. From the moment you walk in you are welcomed with open arms. Being new to the neighborhood, and reading many positive reviews, we decided to take our young female cat to get fixed with One Love.  After a frustrating first experience (with MANY required tests and shots without much explanation) she was fixed, but then had complications, which equated to multiple visits with them.  We felt more and more disappointed with each visit and phone call - money ALWAYS felt like the priority, and in one instance, a vet was extremely frustrated, aggravated and nasty to us when we asked to bring our cat over without an appt as her incision looked inflamed.  We will never go back and would never recommend this place. The personal and caring service at One Love is something that I cannot say enough about. We have senior dogs and they need a lot of special care, and the doctors and staff are just terrific! They really go above and beyond, and from the welcoming front desk staff to the vet techs and doctors, everyone knows and loves our pugs. We recently had to let one go, which is the hardest thing a pet owner can experience, and Dr. Gryzb made it as smooth and considerate as possible. She exudes warmth and compassion in a way that puts both the owner and the pet at genuine comfort. She is the type of vet who will sit on the ground and make your pet feel comfortable - not only because it makes the animal feel relaxed but because she truly loves animals and you can feel her passion for what she does. She is the type of vet that will return your crazy, nervous phone calls if something doesn't feel right with your pet at home. She is mindful of how expensive having a chronically sick pet is and will walk you through options - not just tell you what to do with jargon you don't understand. I've never felt pressure to go beyond my means financially and I've never felt such confidence in the decisions my vet has made.Dr. Grzyb is brilliant, and I will never go to another vet as long as she is practicing in NYC. This is a hard review to write. I began my relationship with One Love under the saddest of circumstances. My young cat developed FIP, an insidious virus which has no cure and is carried by some cats silently until one day it shows up and within a week or so, you must put your cat down (never let a cat suffer for your hard time saying goodbye). I had taken my cat to Blue Pearl Emergency (also excellent) and they referred me to One Love. After two visits within a short time span, I decided to put my cat down. I have done this before. It is unbelievably heartbreaking. Everyone, including staff and Dr. Humphreys and the vet assistant, were so so caring. The procedure is relatively short. But One Love gives you all the time you need to stay after your pet is gone for some private mourning time. If you find yourself in this situation, I highly recommend One Love. Now on to the happy stuff. After that, I made One Love my permanent vet. Dr. Grzyb is awesome. She takes times to listen, is so compassionate and funny when appropriate, and very warm. More importantly, I totally trust in her skills and diagnostic abilities; she is confident and that makes me comfortable.  Ever have a vet who was kinda flakey and vague? Dr. Katie is not this way. She is clear with what is happening with my pet, what options are there, she spends time and listens, and she is - as far as my cat goes - a cat whisperer. I don't know if she says this about all the cats, but she says she adores my cat. The feeling is mutual. My cat is very comfortable with Dr. Katie. The tech assistants are also excellent, and the front desk staff also helpful, sweet, don't ever make any kind of billing errors, are great on the phone - speaking of phones, there is always a follow up phone call the very next day from a front desk staff member asking how things are going.I could go on and on, the freshly baked cookies, and coffee machine, the clean waiting room, the genuine caring vibe you get when you are there. I cannot recommend them highly enough.If I had to give a con I would say that, yes, prices are a bit higher than other vets - but believe that is mostly lab work and medications. But the time spent with the doctors is well worth the minimally higher cost. Also, there are beautiful parrots in a big cage in the waiting room. I'd prefer for my pet's sake they weren't there, but that is hardly an issue.Also, I wish I didn't have to see them so often, but what can I do, my cats have issues! One Love is one of the best veterinary clinics I've dealt with in all my years of being a dog owner in NY. The front desk staff is efficient and friendly, the techs are great, and the doctors (Dr. Grzyb especially) are caring, skillful, and thorough. Dr. Grzyb has been really helpful with answering questions via email and this gives us a lot of peace of mind. We had our second puppy spayed here, and it was a super straightforward process. (If you're squeamish, you might want to file this under TMI. If not, read on!) Our puppy was completely unfazed after surgery and recovered smoothly and quickly. Her incision was clean and neatly sutured (compared with my first pup, who was spayed at a different vet's and came out with horrible, crusty, clumpy stitches--see photo). In the end, what will keep us coming back is their straightforwardness: they have never tried to manipulate us into overspending (a feeling all too common for NY dog owners) and have always given us plenty of informations and options. SUMMARY: Excellent people, Excellent service, Excellent facilitiesFRONT DESK STAFF:I used to manage a medical office, and wish I'd been able to hire people as personable and professional as the One Love Animal Hospital front desk staff. They're always smiling, and in addition to engaging me in small talk about my dogs, they actually REMEMBER us when we come in. In February 2017, after a snow storm, I brought my Chihuahua in for a check-up. An elderly woman (who lives next door) was trying to shovel a path for her driveway, and when one of the front desk staff noticed, she got up and went outside to the elderly woman to let her know she would help shovel during her lunch break, so the elderly woman wouldn't hurt herself. I know this doesn't really mean much with regard to pet care BUT... if this is how the staff treat their neighbors, imagine what it means for the care and wellbeing of your pets!Also, more recently, I was in the waiting room (May 19, 2017) waiting near the coffee machine, when I overheard them chatting about how great their patrons are. Always a nice thing to hear :-)SUPPORT STAFF:My Chihuahua is absolutely terrified of needles. I took him to two other veterinarian locations in NYC, and he was so upset after being handled roughly, that he displayed symptoms of PTSD. That said, the Support Staff at One Love Animal Hospital treat him so delicately, he doesn't squeal (a lot) when he gets his updated vaccinations. I can also tell by how he behaves around them that they're being careful to not make things too stressful.Also, after the veterinarian does the intake and recommends care options (vaccinations, medications, procedures, etc.) the support staff return with a low-estimate/high-estimate bill, so I know exactly what I would be paying for. It's great to have such upfront service.VETERINARIANS:For the first visit, my dogs were seen by Dr. Katie Grzyb, and I LOVED her (as did my Chihuahua). She was able to diagnose in two seconds (with some play and expert touching of his legs and joints) what another veterinarian office wasn't able to identify (without costly scans). Recently, due to my work schedule, the healthcare for my dogs has been overseen by Dr. Justin Farris, and I can't say enough about how great he is. He asks the right questions, which helped jog my memory about something obscure that happened to one of my dogs a few months back. From that line of questioning, he was able to identify a testing and care regimen --- AND even called me on Thanksgiving to ensure my dog was responding to his treatment! I love how Dr. Farris interacts, not only with me, but with both of my dogs. Having been to other veterinarian offices, both in Manhattan and in Brooklyn, it's incredibly refreshing to know my dogs are being cared for by such a wonderful group. So many other places in New York have all the bells-and-whistles of a good practice, but when you get down to the nitty-gritty, they're impersonal and unnecessarily expensive. She is a passionate doctor that truly loves helping her patients live their best life. You can see very quickly why she became a Veterinarian, she cares for each pet as if they are her own. Veterinary medicine requires someone to piece their medical puzzle together as these little furry loves cant talk ... Dr. Grzyb is that gifted doctor. Leo has been a frequent visitor and regardless of what may present- Dr. Grzyb gets to the origin of the issue and then organizes the best treatment plan.As a minor issue, Leo began walking weird and of course you start thinking the worst. Dr. Grzyb examined him and said "His anal glands need to be expressed." Guess who was walking normal again? Leo. Guess who was smiling brilliantly. Me. Yearly visits are also very comprehensive- Blood work, dentals, medicine adjustments. I highly recommend her to all all of my fellow furry friend parents, who also after seeing her share the same sentiments. To speak to Dr. Grzyb's level of care: Leo had a terrible unexpected medical emergency while in London. He almost died- and for a few weeks it was really a day by day situation. Dr. Grzyb was beyond supportive and available for questions, feedback and even spoke with with his surgeon and medical team from the UK. Her level of care is beyond measurable is very rare. The receptionists are HORRIBLE with customer service and their attitudes are unbelievable (most are in their early 20s). We love Dr. Katie Gryzb, so it's unfortunate that this hospital won't see patients last minute, forcing them to go to Blue Pearl- since they charge a $160 "emergency fee" to their clients if you bring them in without an appt. They really love your pet here.Well, I can only speak from my pups' experience, but we really feel the love. Everyone from the front desk, to the assistant that comes in first to take their weight and temperatures, to the vets. We've seen about three different vets and three different assistants and they are each super sweet to the pups, as well as incredibly knowledgeable. They will always ask if you have any questions, and with each shot, go over what the potential reactions may be. They will always call you before your appointment to remind you, and also call to follow up after the appointment, to make sure they're okay.They are also very generous with treats here, so the pups are drunk on food and love. So much so, that when the assistant leaves to go get the vet, my pups will sit at the door and eagerly wait for them. When they went to get their rabies shot (the fourth visit), they RAN to the back where the shots are administered. They RAN. To get SHOTS.Hilarious. Read Less

The plus side was that I was able to make my appointment very quickly and was seen promptly. The staff (at the time) was very friendly and welcoming.... after the check-up the assistant brought in a list of suggested services that were close to a couple thousand dollars. At that time, I realized that this place is just a money-maker. I then decided to just get the rabies vaccine and the stool sample. I paid for all the services up front before leaving the office. ... now almost 4 months later they want to bill me for an additional stool sample. That's ridiculous. They are saying that the only way is to prove I paid it by going into my personal bank account and showing them I paid it. Very poor management. The girl on the phone was extremely rude and continued to talk over me.. very unprofessional. .. I will be taking my services elsewhere in the future.Read Less

An excellent Animal hospital and Vet. The veterinary cost are high(reason for the 3 stars), though this could be due to the location cost and/or what the local market is willing to pay. If you are a new pet owner, new to the area and have never given thought to the recommended vaccines, do some research. One Love does include Optional vaccinations in their recommended vaccination packages. These cost plus the standard fee they charge to see your pet add up with a puppy visit easily costing between $500 - $1000. Again great staff, I just don't see anything in the service that justifies the costs versus other vets. Read Less

I am so grateful I found this place! They saw me for an emergency appointment within 2 hours of my call (I'd never even been there before), they told me up front what the emergency exam fee was, I waited no more than 5 minutes after completing my paperwork, and they could not have been sweeter. A lot of places are staffed with kind people, but what I really appreciated about this place was that they were very upfront about what was nice-to-have vs. need-to-have, the vet was obviously thoughtful about which tests/procedures would be the most key and which could wait, and I did not feel AT ALL like they were judging my choices or pushing me to do anything just so they could charge more for it. I don't have pet insurance, money has to be a consideration (they were very understanding of this), and my little guy got great care without leaving me feeling taken advantage of. When I saw the bill I felt RELIEVED, which is by no means usually the case. These people are angels and I will be coming here from now on. Read Less
