Pure Paws Veterinary Care of Clinton Hill takes your pet’s health and happiness to heart. We understand that your pets are special and we believe they deserve to be treated as such! Located in the Clinton Hill neighborhood of Brooklyn, we offer a complete list of veterinary services for dogs and cats in a fully equipped facility. Open 7 days a week, we give our clients greater convenience and options when scheduling those important visits for their pets.

I brought my dog to this place to have a teeth cleaning with Dr. Reilly. I was originally quoted 4-8 teeth to be pulled and I signed a document stating that they needed to call and get permission to remove any more.
Hours later they call (while my dog is unconscious) saying it's going to be 24 teeth, not the 4 we discussed. When I told them not to pull that many teeth, they didn't listen and decided to pull approximately 16 teeth anyway AGAINST MY EXPLICIT REQUEST. I ended up picking up a basically toothless dog.
To make matters worse, the Karen at the front desk called the cops on me for asking for copies of the countersigned document (stating that they would not move forward with more extractions than approved by myself). A document that should have been sent to my email anyway, but when you're dealing with unorganized and unprofessional people who just want to charge your credit card, anything goes.
I, of course, recorded the entire racist interaction for safety and protection, and will be taking the steps necessary to look into the gross negligence and discrimination conducted by this practice.
TLDR: if you care about your pet, and want to work with a vet who respects and listens to you, don't bring your pet here. And if you're a person of color, definitely don't bring your pet here, or you might get the cops called on you for asking simple questions......

Pure Paws was a lifesaver for me when my dog needed emergency surgery to spay her because of an infection. I know that sometimes you have to take your pet to the emergency room but I didn’t have insurance and couldn’t afford a $5000 surgery. Thankfully Pure Paws was able to fit me in the nick of time for a much lower rate.

My dog got into some slug and snail bait yesterday after work and I was not able to get him to vomit it up using 3% hydrogen peroxide. It was 6:20pm and I am a client of this veterinary office so I called them immediately. I asked when they closed and if they would be able to see my dog to assist with the emergency and they stated they close at 7:00pm (40 min later). I explained the details of the emergency and told them that I'm a five minute walk away from the office. The woman on the phone said "Let me check with the doctor". Several minutes later she got back on the phone and told me the doctors are already wrapping up for the day "you can call Blue Pearl Emergency clinic". Even though it was during business hours and my pet was in a life threatening situation they refused to allow us to come in. I got in my car and drove several miles to "Blue Pearl". While frantically searching for parking my dog finally vomited in the back seat. Bottom line, these people don't care if you pet lives or dies. I would not recommend them to my worst enemy. I will be returning to my old veterinary office in Manhattan even though it is not convenient, I know that they care about their clients and pets.

That one morning he couldn’t stand. I went into panick mode. Gave him sugar and salt water. More milk and rushed him there even though I was told I’d be charged extra (75 instead of 48) but I didn’t care. Overall my experience was positive. They waived the walk in fee and informed me on what to do and my little runt of the litter is doing just fine. Still small but he’s a fighter. They checked his sugar and it was normal. This will be my go to vet from now on.

Had an issue with my dog that wasn’t technically an emergency, but since I was so concerned for her wellbeing they managed to squeeze me in anyway. Dr Stephanie Liff and the rest of the staff were very helpful and super friendly towards both me and my pup. While a bit pricy, they do care and seem to know what they’re doing, and were very honest and upfront about what everything would cost before running the tests. We will definitely be back, I think I found a new primary vet for my old girl :)

I am so incredibly happy with the service and care and love, yes love, this veterinary care center shows. I started going here with my first cat I had in the city. When he became ill they did everything they could before we needed to send him to another center. Now we have 2 rescue kittens - brothers - and the care and attention they receive is above and beyond. Any animal I have or anytime anyone asks where they should go for great vet care - I send them to Pure Paws.

They were really great. I was able to book the appointment the day of. We arrived early and were taken in right on time. Everyone was extremely happy and friendly. The doctor was nice and was able to immediately detect why my dog was crying from pain. The best part of our visit was Allison who made sure that my dog got her shots, medication, cut her nails and drained her glands. She was so nice and excited. I really appreciated her approach after a long day. The visit was about $48 however the recommended blood work was over $215 which was a big disappointment on our part. We just couldn't afford to pay close to 500 for a wellness visit. We elected not to do blood work and they were not pushy about it. I totally recommend this place just wish that they were able to provide income based payments for tests or offered a solution for those who cannot afford certain services.

I've been bringing my dog here for years, even though I've moved multiple times and the commute isn't as easy as it once was. They're definitely worth it! They take the time to properly assess and diagnose, but more importantly, to follow up and make sure my dog is doing ok. I greatly appreciate the vet promptly returning my calls, to calmly and patiently answer any crazy questions or worries I may have. My dog is a part of my family, and I feel comforted knowing he gets the best treatment at Pure Paws. Thanks for everything you guys!

Today was my first time taking my pup to the Vet and I had many questions.
I was running twenty mins late past my appointment time and was still still seen and take care of at a decent amount of time. Which is a great plus to me. The wait was not long at all.
The staff were helpful from the receptionist, to the Vet assistant. Dr. Fadi was very gentle with Bentley. All my questions was answered (and trust me I had A LOT) plus more info and feed back on how to keep my pup healthy.
Prices are great they also give you an estimate where you can pick and choose what you can do that day.
Overall my experience was great. For a first time visit for Bentley it went pretty smooth for him too.

I always have a great experience when going to Pure Paws Veterinary.
The staff is awesome, very friendly and caring.When I called , they were very concerned about my cat and told me I could come in that day , even though they were busy. They took time to talk to me and helped me with the situation. Dr. Jodie Poller is the best. She is caring, she called me to see how my cat was doing the next day and the day after that. Even when I called Dr. Poller she had time to talk to me, she is very warm friendly and that eased my worries. They are very patient and understanding.My cat was upset but they worked with me to find a solution so he could have his test done. I recommend this Veterinary to everyone with a pet. On very short notice, I brought in my 11-year old cat who had been vomiting small amounts very frequently over a couple days. He was listless, dehydrated, had no appetite. The vet was gentle, caring and thoroughly considered a long list of possible causes with me, then presented a list of options and costs. So I was able to select what seemed affordable, and most urgently appropriate while declining some services that seemed possibly unnecessary or overly expensive. After only a few hours the cat was drinking from his water bowl, using the litter box and by next day, eating. Back to normal in about a day! We were very relieved and appreciated the good care.

My dog has tough allergies and my old vet told me he just had to live with it and there was nothing to be done. Obviously seeing my little guy itching and sneezing (and worse reverse sneezing) all the time I took him to Brooklyn cares. Dr.Liff and everyone on staff were amazing! They talked through diet changes and supplements to help and put him on seasonal allergy medicine. A couple days later and he's doing so much better already. I couldn't be happier or speak more highly of my experience!

Dr. Mann is a fantastic Vet, very kind and patient with people in a budget. I found Brooklyn Cares by luck when I got sick of the guilt trips and high rates from my previous vet. Brooklyn Cares really does care! I learned how to make my own diabetic cat food, that my Kitty loved for half the price as the pellets she hated. And they helped me care for my kitty to the every end. When I had to say fair well, they were supportive and generous with their time. They are the best! Thank you!

I brought my dog to this place to have a teeth cleaning with Dr. Reilly. I was originally quoted 4-8 teeth to be pulled and I signed a document stating that they needed to call and get permission to remove any more.
Hours later they call (while my dog is unconscious) saying it's going to be 24 teeth, not the 4 we discussed. When I told them not to pull that many teeth, they didn't listen and decided to pull approximately 16 teeth anyway AGAINST MY EXPLICIT REQUEST. I ended up picking up a basically toothless dog.
To make matters worse, the Karen at the front desk called the cops on me for asking for copies of the countersigned document (stating that they would not move forward with more extractions than approved by myself). A document that should have been sent to my email anyway, but when you're dealing with unorganized and unprofessional people who just want to charge your credit card, anything goes.
I, of course, recorded the entire racist interaction for safety and protection, and will be taking the steps necessary to look into the gross negligence and discrimination conducted by this practice.
TLDR: if you care about your pet, and want to work with a vet who respects and listens to you, don't bring your pet here. And if you're a person of color, definitely don't bring your pet here, or you might get the cops called on you for asking simple questions......

Pure Paws was a lifesaver for me when my dog needed emergency surgery to spay her because of an infection. I know that sometimes you have to take your pet to the emergency room but I didn’t have insurance and couldn’t afford a $5000 surgery. Thankfully Pure Paws was able to fit me in the nick of time for a much lower rate.

My dog got into some slug and snail bait yesterday after work and I was not able to get him to vomit it up using 3% hydrogen peroxide. It was 6:20pm and I am a client of this veterinary office so I called them immediately. I asked when they closed and if they would be able to see my dog to assist with the emergency and they stated they close at 7:00pm (40 min later). I explained the details of the emergency and told them that I'm a five minute walk away from the office. The woman on the phone said "Let me check with the doctor". Several minutes later she got back on the phone and told me the doctors are already wrapping up for the day "you can call Blue Pearl Emergency clinic". Even though it was during business hours and my pet was in a life threatening situation they refused to allow us to come in. I got in my car and drove several miles to "Blue Pearl". While frantically searching for parking my dog finally vomited in the back seat. Bottom line, these people don't care if you pet lives or dies. I would not recommend them to my worst enemy. I will be returning to my old veterinary office in Manhattan even though it is not convenient, I know that they care about their clients and pets.

That one morning he couldn’t stand. I went into panick mode. Gave him sugar and salt water. More milk and rushed him there even though I was told I’d be charged extra (75 instead of 48) but I didn’t care. Overall my experience was positive. They waived the walk in fee and informed me on what to do and my little runt of the litter is doing just fine. Still small but he’s a fighter. They checked his sugar and it was normal. This will be my go to vet from now on.

Had an issue with my dog that wasn’t technically an emergency, but since I was so concerned for her wellbeing they managed to squeeze me in anyway. Dr Stephanie Liff and the rest of the staff were very helpful and super friendly towards both me and my pup. While a bit pricy, they do care and seem to know what they’re doing, and were very honest and upfront about what everything would cost before running the tests. We will definitely be back, I think I found a new primary vet for my old girl :)

I am so incredibly happy with the service and care and love, yes love, this veterinary care center shows. I started going here with my first cat I had in the city. When he became ill they did everything they could before we needed to send him to another center. Now we have 2 rescue kittens - brothers - and the care and attention they receive is above and beyond. Any animal I have or anytime anyone asks where they should go for great vet care - I send them to Pure Paws.

They were really great. I was able to book the appointment the day of. We arrived early and were taken in right on time. Everyone was extremely happy and friendly. The doctor was nice and was able to immediately detect why my dog was crying from pain. The best part of our visit was Allison who made sure that my dog got her shots, medication, cut her nails and drained her glands. She was so nice and excited. I really appreciated her approach after a long day. The visit was about $48 however the recommended blood work was over $215 which was a big disappointment on our part. We just couldn't afford to pay close to 500 for a wellness visit. We elected not to do blood work and they were not pushy about it. I totally recommend this place just wish that they were able to provide income based payments for tests or offered a solution for those who cannot afford certain services.

I've been bringing my dog here for years, even though I've moved multiple times and the commute isn't as easy as it once was. They're definitely worth it! They take the time to properly assess and diagnose, but more importantly, to follow up and make sure my dog is doing ok. I greatly appreciate the vet promptly returning my calls, to calmly and patiently answer any crazy questions or worries I may have. My dog is a part of my family, and I feel comforted knowing he gets the best treatment at Pure Paws. Thanks for everything you guys!

Today was my first time taking my pup to the Vet and I had many questions.
I was running twenty mins late past my appointment time and was still still seen and take care of at a decent amount of time. Which is a great plus to me. The wait was not long at all.
The staff were helpful from the receptionist, to the Vet assistant. Dr. Fadi was very gentle with Bentley. All my questions was answered (and trust me I had A LOT) plus more info and feed back on how to keep my pup healthy.
Prices are great they also give you an estimate where you can pick and choose what you can do that day.
Overall my experience was great. For a first time visit for Bentley it went pretty smooth for him too.

The staff is awesome, very friendly and caring.When I called , they were very concerned about my cat and told me I could come in that day , even though they were busy. They took time to talk to me and helped me with the situation. Dr. Jodie Poller is the best. She is caring, she called me to see how my cat was doing the next day and the day after that. Even when I called Dr. Poller she had time to talk to me, she is very warm friendly and that eased my worries. They are very patient and understanding.My cat was upset but they worked with me to find a solution so he could have his test done. I recommend this Veterinary to everyone with a pet. On very short notice, I brought in my 11-year old cat who had been vomiting small amounts very frequently over a couple days. He was listless, dehydrated, had no appetite. The vet was gentle, caring and thoroughly considered a long list of possible causes with me, then presented a list of options and costs. So I was able to select what seemed affordable, and most urgently appropriate while declining some services that seemed possibly unnecessary or overly expensive. After only a few hours the cat was drinking from his water bowl, using the litter box and by next day, eating. Back to normal in about a day! We were very relieved and appreciated the good care.

My dog has tough allergies and my old vet told me he just had to live with it and there was nothing to be done. Obviously seeing my little guy itching and sneezing (and worse reverse sneezing) all the time I took him to Brooklyn cares. Dr.Liff and everyone on staff were amazing! They talked through diet changes and supplements to help and put him on seasonal allergy medicine. A couple days later and he's doing so much better already. I couldn't be happier or speak more highly of my experience!

Dr. Mann is a fantastic Vet, very kind and patient with people in a budget. I found Brooklyn Cares by luck when I got sick of the guilt trips and high rates from my previous vet. Brooklyn Cares really does care! I learned how to make my own diabetic cat food, that my Kitty loved for half the price as the pellets she hated. And they helped me care for my kitty to the every end. When I had to say fair well, they were supportive and generous with their time. They are the best! Thank you!
