Nasty rude ass receptionist. Some of the receptionists are rude as hell. I called to make emergency appointment after talking to Dr. Max over the phone and he told me to come in the next day with my dog. I talked to the receptionist and she said there's no open appointment and try calling in the morning to see if there's an open appointment. I said ok. But then I asked if they take walk ins? I don't care if I have to wait hours either. She said no. Again, call in the morning. I said can I just come in to get medication for my dog since Dr Max knows my dog's case and just needs to give my dog emergency meds. She said I told you, call in the morning. At this point I don't want to bet on someone cancelling and if no one cancels then I'm stuck. I said I don't know if my dog can wait another day if he doesn't get his emergency meds tomorrow. She just hung up on me after I said that. Seriously? Why are you working in customer service at a Vet's office when you obviously have no manners and no care in the world for people's pets. Your job isn't just to answer phone calls and hang up on people when you don't like where the convo is going. Maybe they should hire some more compassionate people who actually care about people's pets. I'll take my business to Bensonhurst vet. Read Less

I just called a few times to get an adopted cat's records. Never visited this place. Phone's sometimes busy. Maybe 10 minutes of hold time on another occasion. They only send records by fax, not email. Woman on the phone didn't seem friendly. The second time I asked them to fax records (to me as opposed to another vet), they never faxed them. Read Less

Have been taking my dog here and have not complained since. We see Dr. Olga who is perfect at diagnosing my dog when he gets ill. They also offer dog boarding which includes taking them on walks! Whenever we come in, there is always a worker who comes or leaves taking out the dogs, and they could not look any happier! I think their pricing is fair, but if you do not agree on the price they give you, they do not keep trying to make you give in, which is a plus! Read Less

Been at this place twice. The only reason I gave 4 stars is for receptionists. One girl totally ignored me and the second one was ok and seemed like she was only one working. At their age I worked in medical field as a receptionist in a very busy place and I know the deal. A lot depends on the front desk and generally front desk is the face of the office. They are first and last people we see. The tech who was helping doctor was great! Doctor is amazing! Both times I was seen by Dr. Sheynberg. First time we were there 5 years ago as an emergency. My cat had urinal infection and skin infection around her private parts due to constant urination. I didn't want to go to my regular vet since he was overcharging me and wasn't helpful at all. Dr. Sheynberg was very helpful and provided spray which he told me I can buy in any pet store and recently I found it on amazon. It was very helpful since it helps her after grooming. My friend had the same issue and used it after grooming his cat. Also, Dr. Sheynberg did annual shots and explained what I need and don't need. Unlike my previous vet who was charging me for unnecessary things without letting me know. We went recently to see him again and he helped a lot. Doctor Shaynberg is straight forward and we were in and out. I read many reviews that they charged people for unnecessary services and medications. Not in my case. The customer service at this place is absolutely terrible. The receptionist has so much attitude and is so terribly rude. I would not recommend going here unless you are into that type of service. Best place for your loved ones. Professional, knowledgeable, caring, Doctors and Staff. They always available to answer any questions, always follow up with a phone call after any procedure within 24 hours, discuss options available to help me make my decision about any procedure, and reasonable prices that I worth the care.  I have been going there for over 15 years. I my cat there, my best friend takes her two dogs, my neighbor as well as coworker only go there because the experience with other vets had lead to sorrow times. The worst place ever. This place is managed so poorly & disgusting. Barely speak English so they barely communicate with you especially if you're not Russian. Such an unwelcoming office- they couldn't even tell me what was wrong w my dog except so quick to put him on anti depressants & not even explain what should/could be done. Came here on referral from a few people who spoke very highly of Doctor Yakov. Came to the office at 455 for a 545 appointment. Was the first one there. After me 5-6 people came in with their pets. At 5pm we were brought into the exam room saying the doctor is almost done. We waited until 550 and decided since no one told us why it's taking so long we left. When asked the receptionist why it took so long and why everyone else was seen before us she replied "we were backed up". Well I guess I'll save my $72 for this visit and go see a Vet who would actual care about wasting our time. If someone asks me about this doctor I will def not send anyone there. Just ridiculous. We have been bringing animals here for over twenty years.  My 15 year old cat suddenly took a turn for the worse.  Normally nine pounds and active she lost two as he had stopped eating and drinking, and was barely able to move spending days in her basket.  All lab tests, xRays etc were normal.  Gently, Dr Olga prepared us for the worst, speaking of palliative care.  However - she did get a shot of an antibiotic and 100 ml of fluid among other things, and high calorie cat food.  Over the next two weeks he slowly rallied, gained at least a pound, and again became quite active.  We have always received excellent care here at quite reasonable professional fees.     The receptionists have always been professional and caring to us.  It may be that some have caught them on bad or busy days.  However, even if they were the pits I'd go here again because the vets are all great.I just read ALL the reviews.  I don't know what to make of the fact that, except for one, most are 5 star raves and a few are one star horrible.  There seems to be nothing in between.  From what I've seen while waiting (sometimes long, because of emergencies) and from friends we all love this place. Took our 5 yr old cat in on a sunday, he was not eating, drinking or using litter box. Dr Bernstein examined him and said that his urinary tract was blocked, but she had not given him xray. He then urinated on table and she proceded to tell us he was now unblocked and sent us home with antibiotics to give him.She also mentioned she was glad because she 'didnt want to stay after hrs"that day cost us 600$. we took our cat home, still sick.not eating and hiding in shower, cold and unresponsive. We took him back in on Monday for recheck. Dr Bernstein ran blood sugar test and then said he now had ketoacidosis and his organs were shut down. Yea they were shut down on sunday too but she misdiagnosed him by Monday it was too late. She tried to con us out of more money for very expensive treatments that will not likely to work. Thank goodness for the girl who worked up front who was honest with me. Another $300 on Monday and our cat had to be put down. Thanks for nothing. My six year old cat had ear mites and I was giving him drops prescribed by a different veterinarian. Apparently the cat develop some kind of allergy to the medication because one day he just started scratching his ears really bad.The skin around his ears was really red and irritated. I just moved to the area and couldn't take him to the old bet because it was about an hour drive so I looked f a local doctor. I called early in the morning and they gave me an appointment  few hours later. I met Dr. Olga who was absolutely amazing, in fact this is probably the first time in my life that I saw a Doctor Who really cared about her patients. I could really tell that she really loves animals by the way she handled my cat .She confirmed that it was allergy to the medication and gave him a shot. She said that it should relieve the itch but in case it doesn't to come back. she was right the allergy went away almost the same day. I am very happy with Dr. Olga, what an amazing person! They literally save my dogs life!!! She was throwing up every two hours, the next day they took me in did the X-Ray , Blood work and at 2:00 PM she was scheduled for surgery. I've been bringing my pug baby here since I got him at 1 month old. He was a craigslist rescue and very sickly in his first months, I was an extremely nervous mother and was given an appointment with Dr. Olga. She is so amazing, I could tell right away that sje truly cared about my Sergeant and was super gentle and comforting. He needed medications and surgery and everything was surprisingly affordable. Dr. Sheynburg performed his stenotic nares surgery and made me feel so confident that everything would turn out great. Sergeant is now a very healthy 2 year old... almost 3 and I wouldn't dream of taking him anywhere else! I have been going to Sheepshead Bay Veterinary Group for 17 years. During these years they have treated all three of my animals. Every time I had to bring in my pet I knew they were in good hands. The doctors always show compassion and joy in what they do, but most importantly they are knowledgeable.If it wasn't for Dr. Burnstein when my cat was diagnosed with kidney failure, anemia, and kidney stone, I do not know what we would have done. She was very thorough, detailed, patience,and caring. She took her time explaining every detail to us, and always answered every phone.  You   can see her compassion and love for my pet, and that makes be confident that she will always do her very best.My husband and I are extremely protective and obsessive over our dog, and the only place we trust to treat him is Sheepshead Bay Veterinary Group. Wanted to share my experience with this office, specifically Dr. Anna. I had been driving 40+ minutes to vets (bay ridge and manhattan) in the past because I had bad experiences with a couple of local vets in sheepshead bay. After getting a recommendation from a friend with a dog that required vet visits often, I decided to try Dr. Anna. I could not be more pleased. What I appreciated most was 1- her genuine care and love of dogs, which is the first thing i notice about any vet. 2 - her honest treatment and recommendations. Dr. Anna was so honest with what she thought my dog needed rather than pushing unnecessary medication/ treatments. She is now my go to vet and the vet of 3 other family and friends cats and dogs that I've referred. We're all thrilled and will continue to be loyal patient. Read Less

The best vet in Brooklyn ! Dr. Bernstein has been my dog Rex's vet for years. She is caring, personable and knowledgeable. I have a frenchie who used to dread going to the vet. When we pull up to sheepshead bay vet group he practically jumps out of the car from excitement to see Dr. Bernstein. The entire office staff remembers Rex and are friendly and helpful both on the phone and in person. Over the years we have had a plethora of breed and non breed related issues with Rex. At one point Rex was losing most of his hair and had sores all over his body. Dr. Bernstein carefully prescribed the correct medication taking into consideration Rex's skin and bowel movement sensitivity. Most recently Rex had a growth on his face which was slowly growing larger by the day. Dr. Bernstein knew what it was the second she saw it. She gave the necessary tests and knew exactly how to take care of it. She is patient with a nervous dog mom like myself and is always available to answer my questions, as crazy as they might be. STAY AWAY! They have my dog 2 shots for Lyme Disease and also told me to use Vectra 3D. THIS IS A DEADLY COMBINATION!My dog was diagnosed with Acute renal failure die to Dr. Bernstein "professional" opinion. This "doctor" doesn't care about your animal. She never even bothered to tell me any side effects on these two meds. This office is all about money! I am a great customer and my dog likes the docs there, but what was done to my dog is irreversible.Due to this negligence, my 6.5 pound dog was under 3 days of IV. And she administered the same dosage for a dog that is 5 times larger than mine. I guess its standard practice right?When asked about this situation, I was told it is impossible that this happened from the injections. I was told, there is NO SIDE EFFECTS. C'mon, give me a break here! It's medication, of course there is something that is a side effect right? NOPE! Dr. Bernstein again told me she asked the other doctor at the clinic and they both agreed on that there is not a single side effect. WOW very BELIEVABLE!The following research was sent directly to the office inbox: Lyme Vaccine Side EffectsThe side effects of the Lyme vaccine mimic those of the actual disease because of the proteins within it that pets aren't typically exposed to. Experts have found this vaccine to cause arthritis, problems of the heart and nervous system, skin problems, and sudden kidney failure. Many veterinarians have reported that pets given the Lyme vaccine display all the symptoms of Lyme disease, but blood samples taken from the pets showed no evidence that the pets contracted the disease itself. Research from Cornell University Veterinary School however lists long term effects from vaccination as rheumatoid arthritis to "all the symptoms of actual Lyme Disease to even death via acute renal failure". Dogs would be affected 4-8 weeks post vaccination with the Lyme vaccine.In matter of hours, my phone rings, which looked like from.Dr. BERNSTEIN personal cell. All of a sudden, worried about my dog, she asked me where the dog is located and decided to call the animal hospital where my dog was staying, "to find something out" and I was also promised that she will find out the effects of this drug directly from the pharmaceutical company. NO RESPONSE HAS BEEN GIVEN after 3 days. Yeah, worried about my dog? I guess you called the animal hospital to be confident that the other doctor didn't spill the beans on this matter to cause a lawsuit? Last week, my dog was was having an emergency! where woke up in the morning to him coughing up and foaming in the mouth. As you can understand the panic I had went into, I immediately called the office and Without hesitation Dr. Bernstein came to the rescue! During the visit, I felt my dog was in trustworthy hands, noticing the compassion and understanding she had for animals. From visual examinations, lab tests and xrays, i had answers less then an hour. (If only human office's were so efficient in that sense). Dr Bernstein and staff took great care of the matter, professionally and in a timely manner. The dog was having an upper respiratory infection. Antibiotics where immediately initiated within the office, and she even redehydrated the dog after recieving low hydration levels from some lab tests. In addition, a specialist was consulted for a second opinion. Furthermore, Prior to leaving the office, medication was dispensed to me at the front desk, which saved me an extra trip to the pharmacy!Oh wait, its been a week now and my dog is done with his meds, fully recovered, and not "coughing up a lung"  Dr. Berstein was very attentive, reached out after for a free follow-up and kept in communication for several days!!! I can honestly say that I wholeheartedly disagree with any review of this clinic that is under 5 stars (and this is coming from an obsessed pup owner). Finding a good veterinarian for your kid is a tough job - it will almost always seem as if no one cares for your animal as much as you do. Sheepshead Bay Veterinary Group truly treats my shih tzu as if she's their own. My incredibly timid pup even runs into the arms of Dr. Bernstein (no bribery of any treats here!). The staff is always kind, no matter how many questions I have during my visit and my arrival is always greeted with smiles. The doctors here are incredibly knowledgable and friendly. On top of this - they have hands of gold! My pup typically gets a little bump under her skin after any type of shot. This hasn't happened once in the care of Dr. Bernstein. My shih tzu has dealt with allergies her entire life. Dr. Bernstein successfully placed her on a healthy alternative diet and prescribed her a delicate cream to calm any inflamed spots. To sum it up - I wouldn't trust my baby in the hands of anyone else. Read Less

I trusted dr. Sheinberg for 10 years with both of my dogs. When I brought my miniature dachshund for a checkup before neutering him, 3 vets were doing rectal exam. The last person was in there very deep, and my dog screamed so loud that I still hear it. He started bleeding profusely from his anal canal. They referred me to see a specialist the next day. And they just let me go with a bleeding dog, saying it's ok. I took my babe to VERG in Brooklyn right away. He had an emergency surgery for raptured anal canal. He's been in ICU for 5 days already. They suspect there is trauma to his bladder as well. The vet bill so far is $11,000!!! I'm just praying every day that I'll bring my baby home soon so he could start his recovery. Dr. Sheinberg didn't have a decency to give a courtesy call to find out how his patient is doing. I'm devastated! Read Less

I took my cat there for her annual shots and for a dental cleaning. I was greeted by Dominique, a friendly receptionist. After a brief wait, Danielle a technician there took me and my cat into the room to be seen by Dr Olga. My cat hates going to the vet, however both Danielle and Dr Olga were professional and reassuring. Danielle firmly held my cat while Dr Olga inspected my protesting cat. Everything was explained to me in detail and to my satisfaction. The dental cleaning was done and I picked up my cat that evening. I was happy to learn that everything went smoothly and no one was scratched lol. My cat is quite nasty with strangers handling her. All in all, I'm quite happy with this place and will return next year for the annual checkup. Read Less

I have visited this vets office twice in the last six months. They are very rough with handling pets. They are also very expensive and are more concerned with ensuring they receive payment as opposed to the well being of the animals. They said the exam would take 30 minutes and ran all the way down the block to ensure I would come back so they would get paid. As if someone would just leave their pet & not come back. Very poor. I was made to believe I could pick up a dog's immunization record and drove an hour in from Queens only to be told that the dog had never been vaccinated there. Had done business with this clinic in the late 90s when I had another cat & they were great-cat had been poisoned and they saved him. When it was time for him to be put down at age of 20 they were great. Then I believe they were bought out and moved up to E28th St. FF to 2010 I am unemployed & my other cat has hematoma in her ear. Olga tried to push $1800.00 plastic surgery; I opted for lower price svc-had no$-cat came home skiddish for the rest of her life, hard of hearing and after I could not give her medicines or attempt to clip her nails and cartilage in her ear was broken and always in a down position and deaf. Every year  my bf has to get his dogs bloodwork done so he can continue to obtain his dogs medication.   This place charges 300$ for a test that he has to do every year for a medication he will take all his life. Today my bf found a place that charges 145$ for the blood work that being all he needs! He made an apt and when the new office called this place for the dogs records, the receptionist  decided to call my bf with a nasty attitude.  Questioning  him why are they calling for the dogs records, why he is making appointments  elsewhere?  When he told her they charge half the price..  she just hung up on him.  She called him with a nasty attitude  and HUNG UP on him.... really classy place.  Perhaps all that extra money went to her pocket , judging  by  that phone call.  Go somewhere  else where u don't get ripped off and talked down to. I came to this hospital in a panic because my regular vet said my dog needed an emergency surgery for a torn CCL. I found myself very fortunate to have found the veterinarian's I did here. They took xrays, examined my dog and informed me he did NOT need surgery. I was beyond happy to meet a staff who genuinely cared for the well being of my beloved dog. He has began laser therapy and will continue to take supplements vs.a surgery that would have caused much stress to my lil one. Amanda and Nicole at the front desk were a pleasure to work with. The entire staff had a very professional, caring demeanor. The office is beautiful and I will be recommending this office to all I know. I've been a client for the last 20 years;I have left my three dogs,there when I have gone on vacation. Their veterinarian services are excellent and the staff is courtesy. When my  Little guys passed away; the clinic staff was so compassionate.  I received sympathy cards at my home; I've never had that experience before with my previous pets. There are only 3 pets at home now:a Pug 7yrs & my rescue cats 14 & 2 yrs old. My furry family will continue to be cared for by the Sheepshead Bay veterinarian clinic always. They Are Superb! When I first got my kitten Sushi I brought it here and they did treat kindly, although I had to wait a very long time for the doctor. When the doc checked the gender he said, "you said its a boy?" And when I bought Sushi I asked for a male cat so that's what I said, I had only gotten it a week before the vet visit, but I asked if it is a boy, and the doctor said "okay I trust you it's a boy yes". A couple months later I wanted to get him neutered here and I was wondering how much it was. I sent an email, never got a reply, they don't even check. I called and they had to call me back 3 hours later to tell me. Over 400 dollars! So I went somewhere cheaper, still as credible and reliable, and lo and behold my suspicions were right my cat is a girl! A certified veterinarian with hopefully an education in this profession told me my cat was male! Crazy. My new doctor took one look at my cat's backside and was able to tell.
