I don't ever write Yelp reviews, but I feel like this circumstance warrants a Yelp review, so bear with me.....I visited the Williamsburg Animal Clinic on May 31, with some serious concerns about my dogs health. He just turned 12 years old, and I noticed a considerable slowdown in his energy, and specifically trouble with his hind legs. I've been coming here since he was a puppy, so I trusted them. Dr Cruz (who is spectacular) was his primary vet, but I was told she was no longer there. On this day, my dog saw Dr. Ueda. I informed Dr. Ueda what I have noticed. My dog has been in great health, but trouble walking is always a concern for a pet owner. The doctor gave him a regular check up, a heartworm test, a blood test and asked more questions. She had my dog walk around and said he looked fine. She suggested I buy joint medication, vitamins, and everything else she could think of selling me. Of course, I bought the joint medication, and she chalked up my concerns to old age, and sent me on my way with a considerable bill for the "treatment" rendered.Fast forward to June 25th, my dog can no longer walk. He lost complete feeling in both of his hind legs. I took him to a great ER late that night, VERG, located in Park Slope. The vet technicians immediately took him in and rushed him to a room upstairs and I was told a vet will come down and speak with me. After what seemed like the longest 30 minutes of my life, I spoke with Dr. Lenahan, who asked me a bunch of questions before giving me a thorough prognosis. I told him I originally came to Williamsburg Animal Clinic, informed him what I was told, and let him hear Dr. Ueda's voicemail saying my dog was healthy and I had nothing to worry about. Dr Lenahan informed me he had conducted a series of examinations on my dog and he diagnosed my dog with a nerve condition in his spine, which caused his original leg weakness, then paralysis. He informed me my beloved dog would then lose control of his bowel movements as the condition rapidly spread, and eventually would lead to a full paralysis. I was heartbroken. Dr. Lenahan, at VERG, gave my dog medication and let me take him home (my choice), for one more night with my family. The next day, we would put my dog down, as his condition rapidly deteriorated. I didn't want to leave a review, because the wound is very real, and very fresh, but, one thing that stands out is I was told if this was caught earlier, something could have been done. My dog had been a long time patient with Williamsburg Animal Clinic, and under Dr. Cruz, he recieved the best care. It breaks my heart to know though, that I came in last month with very real concerns, and was told to not worry and was sold joint medication. One month later, my dog passed away. Maybe this review would help others who love their pets as much as I loved mine. If you have a serious concern about your dogs health, I'd suggest go elsewhere. Read Less
