I have incredibly mixed feelings about this situation. We have been taking our cat here since she had her first stroke; almost a year ago; dr has always been incredibly helpful, available nearly 24/7 via cell phone, offering reasonable solutions and it looked like he truly cared. Up until the last week, when our baby girl was feeling weak and loopy. My husband called and heard we should give her honey - honey to a disoriented cat with a history of strokes ? He then took her in and she was diagnosed with ear infection and ear mites and possibly a stroke. She was sent home with $400 worth of medication that did nothing at all. We had to watch her suffer through several more seizures/strokes - advised by the doctor that she will die in 30 minutes and there's nothing we can do. She survived the night. We knew there's nothing more we can do and we wanted to give her a respectful dignified end, we called him and he impatiently barked at us a price of euthanasia (four times as much as any other local vet) and complained that he's busy. Long story short, we went to another vet, our girl is gone, and thanks to this office the last few days with her were made unnecessarily more painful for her and us by doctors lack of empathy and compassion and possible neglect. Now I'm left with a crippling fear that he misdiagnosed her from the beginning and had I only gone somewhere else she would still be here. He made me doubt every exam ever taken and every method of treatment chosen. I will never know the truth and I will never get my girl back. Read Less

I brought my very fat cat (please don't shame me - she's on a diet and Dr. Nasr is helping me get her to a healthy weight) in at the first available appointment (that afternoon). She had a fever and had too much fur in her stomach. He gave me antibiotics that are easy to give her and very low trauma for both of us. I dropped her off this morning for a teeth cleaning and blood work and naturally started sobbing because anesthesia is scary, and he was so reassuring. He called to check in a couple of hours after I picked her up, too. Amazing animal care, amazing human care, and totally affordable. Never going anywhere else. Read Less

My cat had a UTI and he let us come in on a Saturday without an appointment so he could get checked out right away. In addition to treating my cat and getting the right medication, he gave me a few cans of special cat food for urinary tract infections for free. He even texted a few days later to check on how my cat was doing! I feel that Dr. Nasr cares for animals and his customers, and am very happy my cat is feeling much better thanks to Dr. Nasr! My cat was recently diagnosed with FLUTD and I had to rush him to Blue Pearl to get unblocked. The bill was $1700, the doctors were impatient and unsympathetic, and they only gave me anti-spasm pills and painkillers to treat my cat's urinary tract infection. My poor cat was still peeing blood and puss days after I brought him home. Blue Pearl stopped answering my calls, I was broke after the initial bill, and I was so worried that I wouldn't be able to anything more for my cat. I found Dr. Nasr through Pet Assure and thought at the very least I could get a prescription for special FLUTD food for my cat. I called on a Saturday morning, explained the situation, and Dr. Nasr told me to come in that afternoon. While I was in the waiting room, I overheard him talking to some pet owners of a very old dog that was approaching the end of his life. Dr. Nasr was so sweet and understanding during their conversation, and I felt instantly at ease bringing my cat there. When I met Dr. Nasr, he was warm, welcoming, and asked thorough questions about my cat's situation. As soon as he heard that my cat had only been prescribed anti-spasm pills and painkillers, he told me that my cat needed antibiotics and prescription food. He told me to ignore the care instructions from Blue Pearl and sent me home with antibiotics to actually treat the infection and two cases of discounted prescription food. The total bill for the exam, drugs, and food was only $185! Within days, my cat stopped peeing blood and was acting completely normal again. I called Dr. Nasr to follow up and he remembered my cat's name and situation off of the top of his head.  I wish I would have found him earlier. I will be bringing my cat here from now on. Dr. Nasr is a genuine guy and clearly cares more about treating sick animals than getting as much money out of his clients as possible. Read Less

We used to take our dogs to One Love AH around Atlantic Ave- hated it- should review them next, actually. First- I had to cancel my appointment and switch to another date. Not a single problem. The morning of my appointment I called to check on the time, a half an hour earlier than I anticipated (my fault)- but the doctor offered to have me come in a half an hour later, not a problem at all he said. He took the time to meet my needs when I wasn't prepared for the day. It happens, but usually, you don't have the vet picking up his cell phone telling you it's all OK. Fantastic. What I loved about WTV was that they didn't try to sell me on anything I didn't need. He found a cyst on my dogs tail that we just assumed was from a break or from puppy hood (years later, it's a cyst.) We went to WTV yesterday (9/28/15) with our 2 DOGS, Heather and Eli Manning. Now- Heather doesn't really like anyone.. Growls, protective of me, terribly intelligent. She got along with not only the vet tech/receptionist but also the Vet! He was petting her face and speaking kindly to her, nope, not one growl! Wow-amazing. The vet informed us of recent vaccinations and didn't push us for anything other than what we truly needed. You can really tell that the Doctor isn't out to make a buck or to scam people or try to get more money out of you! He went through everything with us, was kind not only to us but to my dogs- which, honestly, is far more important to me. What I thought was another great addition that I hadn't seen before was that the examination table was able to be lowered down manually, so we didn't have to pick up our large dogs and put them on the table. Super helpful tool!Look- if you want something fancy that serves coffee, tea and biscuits, then this isn't the place for you. I would rather pay for cheaper health care for my dogs than to pay extra for the nice waiting room, coffee and tea in Park Slope. This place is Brooklyn. Not new Brooklyn, old school Brooklyn. the office was clean- old- not scary or strange in anyway. We will be going here from now on- so thankful we found such an amazing veterinarian! Read Less

Experienced, compassionate, effective, efficient. Dr Nasir has been my hero on more than one occasion the past two years. I've been coming to Dr Nasir ever since I got my balding husky rescue two years ago. Before him, I went to two other vets whom ran all kinds of tests to see why my husky was balding. Dr Nasir assessed the problem immediately, within 5 minutes of seeing him, and fixed the problem. Flea allergies. I rescued a second husky. She had a bump on her belly, so I thought it might be a tick. With one look and a grope later, Dr Nasir diagnosed her with a hernia, and put her into surgery. One hour later she came out of surgery happy as a clam. He charged me half of what the other vets in the area charge. Read Less

Took my cat there a few years ago to be neutered with a Friends of Animals certificate. The vet was pleasant with me and seemed to do well with the cat, even taking the extra step of clipping his claws for me while he was under. However, the vet waaaay overdid the post-op care. I've had many cats before, all of them fixed, and we never had to go through this. He put him in a collar and prescribed an antibiotic and painkiller I had to administer every day for two weeks. He ended up with chronic diarrhea, so I called the vet to see if maybe the drug regimen was a bit much. He diagnosed him over the phone as having irritable bowels, and said we'd need to get prescription food for the cat, for the rest of his life. I passed. We spoke with a friend who works for another vet; she said the antibiotic completely wiped out my cat's intestinal fauna, giving him the chronic diarrhea. We switched him to Iams Digestive care and stopped the drugs; he's been fine ever since. Read Less

I've been there twice, the first time for a surgery for my cat, and the second one when my cat got attacked and needed some care. I have no complaint about the vet, his facilities, or his services. Everything went very smoothly and he did an outstanding job diagnosing and acting on my cat. The fees were lower than other vets I have been to, and I even got a discount on the medicines. Now, a caveat: the vet people criticize here can seem a little callous. However, from my experience I know this is just his demeanor and that he doesn't really mean to be rude. I'm very protective of my cat and I know the vet wasn't rough on him -he was just assertive in his handling of the animal. Read Less

I purchased a Friends of Animals Spay/Neuter certificate to have my foster dog neuter and tried to schedule an appointment with this place which was listed as a participating veterinarian. The guy on the phone was a complete as$. I tried to get some info about additional charges that might incur on a bigger dog. I was expecting a little extra charge. Instead he quoted me a price way over what I paid for FOA certificate and B/S about charges toward part of the procedure FOA don't cover. Which was a lied! FOA certificate is a full compensation for a routine spay/neuter procedure for a dog up to 50 llbs. Any dog over that weight is only expected to pay for additional anesthesia. Anyway, the guy was rude and hung up on me. Read Less

I use him for shots and well-care because he's close by & inexpensive; but anything more serious or if I disagree with the diagnosis, I go to AnimalKind.  I came to that decision not because of anything he did, but because for an overnight stay I like the 24 hr. staff & hospital setting AnimalKind offers, it's just farther away & more expensive for well-care. Read Less

I've been once to get my dogs his annual shots. Friendly vet and staff. Our dog was sick once (fever and lethargy) and my wife went to the office and it was closed (during business hours). Apparently the vet was out for the day for an emergency. Luckily I had the vet's cell and was able figure out what was going on to let my wife know the vet was out. It would have been nice if a sign was posted or a voice mail message was changed.

Read Less
