I took my dogs to The Country Vet for years until I moved out of the country this past summer. To prepare my dog for the international move, I went to the clinic to get the paperwork started for his puppy passport back in May 2021. The vet and vet tech we saw were very helpful and kind (as they always have been), and looked up the neccesary tests and vaccines my dog would need.
Unfortunately, on the paperwork the clinic filled out to accompany a required blood test, they left off the date of the dog’s rabies booster. To fix this, The Country Vet needs to simply ask the lab that did the blood test to amend the dates. We also need the batch numbers for his most recent distemper and lepto vaccines. For some reason, this has proven impossible for the front office staff to take care of. [I have even sent screenshots of the paperwork with the mistake circled to make it very clear what needs to be fixed….to no avail.]
It has now been nearly three weeks since I’ve been in touch with the front office at the clinic to get this fixed. My dog would be here with me by now if they had simply corrected the mistake. Instead, all we get are sighs and huffs when we call to check on the progress of the paperwork, excuses that they can’t do anything because they have a new computer system, that only the vet can help and they’re in surgery (apparently forever). The only progress they’ve made is faxing a paper to the lab and then telling me that they doubt the lab will get back to them. Super helpful…
I even had a friend who still lives in the area go to the office to try to facilitate getting the paperwork I need. That was also unsuccessful because no one there seemed to have any idea what my friend was talking about, even after countless previous emails and phone calls with one of the front office workers there.
The fact that the blood test cost me nearly $500 back in May, and that I’ve spent thousands of dollars at this clinic over the years doesn’t seem to matter to them now. Instead, when I tell the clinic that this paperwork is the last thing I need to have my dog join me and no longer have to couch surf with the people he is with now, the response I get is just: “I know.” Three lousy pieces of paper are keeping my dog away from me… And at least two of those pieces of paper they could print off their own computer in less than a minute.
If they knew they were not prepared or their office staff were not competent to help fill out the paperwork for an international move, they should have explained that to me before taking hundreds of dollars and then, once they realize they won’t get any more money from me, refuse to cooperate and help me solve the problem.
