Vetco

Canandaigua, New York
General Info
Vetco in Canandaigua offers compassionate and knowledgeable care for pets. Their services include Boarding, Grooming, Microchipping and Vaccinations. Thanks to an expert team, the clinic provides services that promote wellness and address chronic and urgent medical needs. Vetco appointments are structured to ensure emotional pacing and consistency for families in Canandaigua and other parts of New York, facilitating seamless transitions into homes. Animals have the freedom to enter the exhibit at any time they wish. The staff actively observes what animals do in the space, records how much time they take to settle down, and identifies which sensory cues (touch, sound, or scent) elicit the strongest reaction. Exams include an evaluation of hydration, skin elasticity, limb range, dental condition, coat health and weight balance. We also have an in-depth conversation about changes to their sleep, feeding and general household energy levels. Vetco provides (an) array of services: vaccinations, blood work, mobility care, dental care planning, preventive guidance, surgical assistance, and long-term care possibilities. Services can be provided step-by-step or simultaneously depending on an individual pet’s sensory needs. Some choose to make multiple visits for short sessions of care, while others do longer sessions and support the family at a distance after the work is done. Each plan is developed with the family’s implementation potential in mind by evaluating factors such as caregiver emotional capacity, pet stamina, transportation availability and household timing routines. Appointments will often include time for questions, side notes, and story-sharing, especially if you are a new or ongoing patient. Through Vetco, families in Canandaigua and the surrounding New York areas incorporate this care into their daily lives as a routine rather than a stressful exercise to avoid. They focus on preventive care, early detection, and timely treatment. Clients appreciate the transparency, educational support, and personalized recommendations. The team is fully involved with every case, whether it be multi-faceted diagnoses or senior pet care. And as more pet owners become aware of how the company’s products improve their pets’ lives, its reputation continues to grow.

I like how my dog looks when she's groomed here. My issue is that it can be inconsistent depending on which groomer she sees. The other big issue is the time commitment. 5 hours for grooming is ludicrous. They either need to not book as many animals or they need to not take walk-ins, something. 5 hours is too stressful for the dog. Read Less

I've probably been to this location a dozen times in total. The place is generally kept clean and well-stocked, and most of the staff is friendly. I usually enjoy my visit. I have had some of the employees behaving like a bunch of gossiping middle schoolers, however. I've walked in to a few of them huddled together, loitering by the door, staring down customers for some reason, and finally getting behind the counter to let me buy something while giving me an extremely poor attitude. Not a single smile or greeting among the lot. I think it's mostly the cashiers who have been poorly chosen/trained for a position which requires customer service. I've only had one or two with a genuinely good attitude, and the rest have been minimally polite at best. Then there are the ones that are downright terrible, as I described. It's one thing to be unable to muster cheerfulness on a bad day, but to be outright hostile, that's pushing it. On the other hand, I have had good experiences with the groomers - the one who always does my dog, Jessie, is particularly friendly and always remembers who we are. The people who work the different departments - I've gotten fish here multiple times - are quite helpful and friendly, too. The ones I've spoken to have been able to answer my basic questions...usually. I agree with the other reviewer that this is not to the place to go to for expert advice, especially on the fish. You might as well walk into a Wal-Mart and ask for interior decorating tips from the guy who stocks the rugs and furniture. It's just not really what the store is all about, when you look past whatever the ads say in an effort to get you in there. Mostly they just make some of the specialty stuff available to you. Not many of the employees are there to become experts on anything. Read Less

If you HAVE to buy saltwater life here ask EVERYTHING you need to about the livestock, "How long have they been here?" "Will they get along with my other fish?" How big of an aquarium do I need for this fish?" "What do they eat?" "Do you sell what they eat?" "Do they get diseases easily"? Or DO YOUR HOMEWORK. :) I gave them one star because they are nice.
