Although I found Dr. Bookbinder very nice to work with and seemed to care about my dog, his fees and costs are through the roof!! Just for Xrays, the visit, and some supplements, he charged me almost a $1,000.00!! Ridiculous! There must have been flakes of gold in those Xrays somewhere! When my dog started limping, I took her to my local vet. They immediately said something about surgery and x-rays and there were all these fees. I went and had another opinion at another local vet, they did an x-ray at a reasonable price and immediately said she needed surgery. When it comes to my dogs, they are my children, they are my family. And money is not an option whatsoever. But I was not about to drop $2500 to do surgery at a local vet that does not do hardly any of ...these surgeries. And did not even show me the X-ray I just paid 300.00 for. They just said. "She's a good candidate for surgery. ". The vet /dr. did not even talk to me. He sent the technician out that read his notes to me and she seriously had no clue about anything when I asked her multiple questions.... So. Everyone told me to go to Dr. Paul Bookbinder. The minute my dog started limping, I should've just went here in the first place. Not only was Dr. Bookbinder patient, kind, and knowledgeable. He also ruled out the fact my dog needed surgery at this time. I had two other veterinarians saying that she needed surgery. Dr. bookbinder was honest and said he would not do surgery on my dog right now and that her condition Would most likely heal. He asked to see me again in six weeks and if my dogs condition is the same or has improved, then there will be no surgery. He is not jumping into taking my money and operating on my dog. Dr Bookbinder is a wonderful Doctor! He and his staff took great care of our dog Coleman. It will be a year October 23rd since his knee surgery and he is doing great! He is now able to do things without is knee popping in and out. We even took him on vacation in September to Lake George and went hiking. I think he was in better shape and my husband and I both.
