Meeting Dr. Jack Covitz 18 years ago on an emergency visit with my then 13 year old cat, Lacy, was one of the best moments of fate I have ever had. Dr. Covitz immediately calmed my very terrified little imp, a feat which had never been accomplished by multiple veterinarians. She had a UTI , and despite the distance, she and her brother, Wesley, (shout out to the staff [Kelly] that had to wrangle his 18lbs of terror)...had a new doctor. Dr. Covitz is a brilliant anesthesiologist, an extremely skilled surgeon, and truly empathetic medical professional. He got both of them through multiple surgeries, in spite of their ages, without negative side affects. Both were in good health after their surgeries and healed well each time. When the time came, he helped me prepare when I had to, say goodbye to them. He has always patiently and respectfully helped  me through very emotional reactions, I cry at everything. When I was ready to take in a new rescue, he helped me find a beautiful little family, with a mama and her three kittens. My kittens are now 11.5 years old, and I just received the horrible news my Sawyer has Lymphoma.  Jack was there for me yet again, and has helped me to set a protocol for Sawyer's care. Taking his advise we will keep him as comfortable as possible, and let Sawyer guide the depth of intervention.I will NEVER EVER EVER forget the many kindnesses, patience, and generosity of both he and his staff. I am filled with gratitude for having met Dr. Jack Covitz that fateful fall day in 2000. You will never find a more compassionate, empathetic, or skilled veterinarian. I cannot say enough good things about the Carmel Animal Hospital! I had a cat that was sick for years. She threw up constantly and was slowly getting thinner and thinner. She was previously misdiagnosed by two other vets and a vet tech (food allergies, acid reflux, and hunger were the suspected culprits). I had given up and just took her in for a check up when I moved to the area. Dr. Kovitz correctly diagnosed her and gave me a number of treatment options depending on her willingness to take pills and my budget (for her kidney disease and hyperthyroidism). I have been going to jack since I was a little girl (6) with my Mom. We fostered a lot of animals and owned 27 cats. Jack always treats pets as if they are his own. He's dedicated to his work, is well knowledgeable, and has always cared the best for my animals. I am now 27 with four animals of my own and even trying out other veterinarians, the pale in comparison. I live over an hour away and still continue to and will always continue to bring my animals to him. I recommend that if you want the best care for your animal, go to him.
