My family has used this vet through many dogs. We were entered in the systems as 110. Which compared to now is a ways back. I adopted an Airedale Terrier mix a couple month ago. a few weeks after we got her she was getting lethargic. When we took her in the doctor was not as gentle as I would've liked. When they opened the jaw she cried be abuse it hurt her. They ended up diagnosing it as a gun infection. But symptoms only went away for a little while. However, eventually they told us we needed an MRI which note is a solid thousand dollars not including treatment afterwards. We decided to go to a different vet and were much happier with him. He seemed much loving towards animals. And he told us that of anything it was a bone infection. We havent used them since. Read Less

When I went in with my dog, Austin, he had a lump on his side that I would later found out was a tumor as I suspected. The receptionist, who I think was named Martha, was very helpful, and was very good in guiding me through all the paperwork to sign. Doctor Greco was very kind and courteous in the handling of my dog, and thanks to him, he is alive today. This hospital took my puppy in 4 times as an emergency without waiting. I can't say enough about the receptionist Mary who I've known for 14yrs. She has a heart of gold. Many people told me to consider putting the puppy down but Dr. Greco offered a solution to the problem. He called in Dr. Seaman who is a surgical specialist. After much discussion we decided to try to give this puppy a good life. Dr. Greco with his 30yrs experience was able to diagnose the problem without expensive diagnostic imagery. I can thank Dr. Greco and Dr. Seaman for discussing the options with me. We chose to have surgery as apposed to putting this puppy down as many would do. The puppy had surgery and this puppy is going to live a wonderful life. He is doing excellent now and we are very happy with the outcome. We love this practice! We have two rescue Pit Bulls and both Dr.'s are wonderful. I can call with questions, worries or just to make an appointment. Mary, the receptionist, is warm and willing to listen anytime. She even knows my voice and greets me by name before I tell her who is calling. I am glad we have such wonderful doctors on the island. The last time I was in there, I saw a group of K-9 officers bring their dogs in. They had nothing but praise for the practice and told me they bring their family pets here as well! Very unprofessional. The doctor is a money making crook, let me explain, I went to take my bird in for a routine checkup. From my memory, The receptionist said that the visit was between $75-$80 from my memory, the doctor examined my bird and said he would like to take some blood samples and other things, he did not tell me how much it would cost a head of time. When we were finished we got a bill for $381!! My jaw dropped and was suprised. The receptionist said they don’t usually give out prices unless the costumer asks. I brought my ferret in because he was very sick; I had never been to this vet but they were able to get me in for an emergency visit. I literally couldn't hold myself together but even still, they were incredibly kind and non-judgmental. Dr. Greco was straight forward with my options; and although I ultimately decided it was time for "Winston" to say his good-byes to this world, they had so much compassion and education for what many vets consider an "exotic pet". Dr. Greco went above and beyond to help me!!! A stray was even loose in my car and he, himself came out and helped get the cat out who ended up climbing up into the engine!!!! He didn’t hesitate to go right in and get him out!! He has always been great and will tell you all your options. They will even call a few days later to check on how your animal is doing (even after a follow up apt).I have been going there for years and have brought him many many different cats. I have been working with this vet for several years now and highly recommend this clinic to everyone. Dr. Greco and Dr. Perry are very knowledgable and dependable vet docs. They always make time for me even when I have a last minute emergency. I run a busy cattery with kittens who occasionally need immediate attention. I can always depend on them and their caring staff to take great care of my kittens as well as our family dog. They are honest and will let you know what options you have. Pricing is very reasonable. We brought our adopted/rescued fur baby, Kylo McKitty face, AKA: Lord Fuzzypaws to this get in hopes of making it/them our primary. I was so glad we did!! Lord fuzzy paws had been having explosive diarrhea and small episodes of puking which I thought was maybe due to the food change I'd done recently but when it went on for 2 days we knew he needed a doctor. Lord Fuzzy isn't a pet to us in my family..he is a sibling, a son, a friend...so my daughters and I were quite worried. We were initially referred to an emergency clinic in Selden. Not only was the consult fee $125, I was treated as a number not a worried parent or even concerned pet owner. The nurse and doctor didn't wanna explain anything to me and handed me diagnostic estimates and treatment plans which was gonna cost me about $1200...which I don't really have..but they insisted ALL tests, fluids, and such were NEEDED. I was also told I should own an animal if I couldn't afford it when I simply asked how much things were gonna cost me and if there was any tests that werent NEEDED at that moment and could maybe wait.. Long story longer we left there $125 poorer and with zero info. I'd decided to find a Vet that would be OURS and get a second opinion and THANK GOD we did!! lord fuz saw Dr. Perry...and he was so kind and patient. He answered ALL my questions and wasn't annoyed or rushed. He handled our baby with such care like he were his own. He also said that we would start with a round of antibiotics and would send out the fecal sample I'd brought with me. He said it wasn't something like dire, that most likely he had worms of some sort but we'd do a process of elimination with the treatments..x rays and or possibly surgery would be last worst case scenario. The receptionists and nurses were kind and compassionate. The waiting room, and exam rooms were clean but warm and inviting. I proud to say this is our vet. Lord Fuzzy paws didn't cry, scratch or anything of the sort AT ALL... When we came home all he could talk about was how much he actually enjoyed his visit..and that even having the thermometer put in his butt wasn't THAT bad!! So relived and happy.Read Less

I had an emergency situation and brought my dog to Animal Medical Hospital of Centereach. The staff was caring and loving of my pet and took excellent care of her. Brought my 10 year old cat to them due to extreme vomiting and they said he had an obstruction "which they pointed out in x-ray" and said he needed surgery right away. We got a second opinion and the other vet we took him to said there was no obstruction showing on x-ray, but that he had kidney failure! Imagine if we had put the cat through that?,. Dr. Greco and the staff are friendly and knowledgeable. My chihuahua had some severe itching, scratching problem from head to paws. It made her ears infected and bleeding from repetitive scratching. Original vet couldnt address the problem and wanted more tests...more tests mean more money. I felt hopeless not able to help her while she was in pain and suffering. A friend recommended this place. Dr. Greco and the entire staff here are wonderful. I recently relocated to the area and thought my dog Sabre might be having seizures. The person who answered the phone was so nice, spoke to Dr. Greco while I was on hold and told me to bring him in immediately. I have been bringing Ellie my sugar glider here for the last month! I described her symptoms for Dr Greco, and he knew right away that Ellie had HLP. He prescribed medicine right on the spot which really helped and recommended a snack Ellie could have to help with her calcium deficiency. I also brought Ellie for a fecal test and Dr. Greco called early the next morning with Ellies Results! The nurse I believe to be named Brianna was very caring towards my little girl, and seemed to show a love for Ellie and I felt comfortable letting her handle Ellie. She even cut her nails for free! Its hard to fid a sugie vet, and eve though some info was given that I was not completely in agreement, I keep in mind that in everything else the Dr. and Staff seemed competent! I brought a rat to Dr.Greco under the assumption that he was a rather competent exotic veterinarian. When I first arrived, the door was locked and I was greeted by a slobby looking man, who, after about 5 minutes of standing in the rain, let us in without a word. The secretaries were extremely standoffish (when they finally mozied out from the back room to process us). After about 10 minutes, the same sloppy looking man greeted us as the veterinarian. After viewing the accolades hanging on the walls of the office (which he felt the need to make reference to), He took a quick look at my rat. In his ears and eyes and not much else. We asked if he might do a panel to check for disease and he declined and said it wouldn't be necessary. After our lightning quick visit, I was promptly charged $75 (for what?) and given a "clean bill of health". They recommended I bring him back for a neuter in 2 months (absurdly late in his life for this operation). About a week later, my rat, after acting extremely sluggish, died in the night time. I can't help but wonder if Dr.Greco put just a little bit more effort in, my rat would still be alive. In addition, I used to work for one of Dr.Greco's high profile clients who does reptile shows in this area. I was SHOCKED to learn that the animals had even been "cleared" by a vet because of their horrible and in some cases near fatal conditions. If you want to skip the attitude from the secretaries, and paying a fortune for no more than 5 hot minutes of this so called "renowned" doctor's time, skip this vet. Head 20 minutes east to Paumanok and I PROMISE you will leave feeling like you got your money's worth. Read Less

I have been bringing my Cocker Spaniel here for the past 6 years and have always had compassionate and knowledgeable doctors and staff assist us. When I first adopted him, I was clueless on where to go.. Here, you know your animal is loved and cared for as their own. I ju st wanted to thank the wonderful people at The Animal Medical Hospital in Centereach (631-585-5353) who helped my daughters class gerbil w/o taking any $ from the kids or myself.I picked Zane up today and the teacher was worried he wasnt looking himself (i must admit for a gerbil..IDK what "himself" would be lol.He had actually had lost a portion of his tail recently and she was worried he hasn't been acting OK..(again IDK) what I do know was I didn't want the lil guy to "move on" the weekend Juliannabrought him home:(. Aftr driving around for about 2 hrs ...i was at a dead end...no pun intended Zane.....All the other hospitals n vets in the area were either unable or unwilling w/o at minimum $55 to check out Zane....these wonderful people not only gave him a clean bill of health but played with him for about 20 mins. This hospital is very clean and professional. The staff is friendly. They gave me an appointment in the same day for my dog. He was loosing hair. Turns out it was an allergy to something. The visit was under $100. I am so happy he did not have a disease. I'm so glad I went there. They have a wellness card where you get 10% off emergency and free vet visits for vaccinations. :) Beats waiting on a line at some of the pet stores. Read Less

A puppy was just born and was breathing shallow. The animal medical hospital of centereach gave me an appointment within an hour. They were not sure they would be able to save her but did what they could do. I decided the treatment I could afford. Well, they saved her life when it looked very grim. Please every one who is reading this plead my warning. This place killed my 5 week kitten. I had brought her in an emergency her breath was shallow and rapid. I rushed to the first place and it happen to be the first one. When we arrived we were greeted with paper work and a snotty attitude. We could care less since all that we cared for at that point was the well being of our pet. The doctor took her in and was very rough. He seemed to not even care about how the animal was. He then gave us an estimate and told us that we needed 1024$ to get her to live. He then just plopped her on a table. No test were done he just looked at her. I scrambled to raise the money seeing as I am only a 17 year old boy and I called everyone I could for help. Finally my friend said she would get the money but she needed to get home first. They refused to begin treatment until the money was in their hands. Before we could get it our poor Noel died on the table they had left her on... They then demanded 57$ just for showing up. No tests... nothing. All we did apparently was take up some of the good doctors time. This is no place for an animal in need. They only care for the green paper and not the animals life. He may sound convincing but you can tell it's a ploy after he watches your pet die and has no remorse. Please listen to my words. *this review is from 5 years ago, I mistakenly placed this review at the wrong Centereach Animal Hospital!Husband and wife vets who are very professional and experienced. Sometimes you may feel a little bit rushed, but they do provide you with quality analysis and premium service. This place is also cheaper than many vets in the area. Last time I went, the regular checkup was only 30+ dollars.One thing I don't like about the place is 1)they have like 10 parrots,small birds, outside by the waiting area and they don't stop CHIRPING! It is so annoying when you wait for like 5-10 minutes, you get a headache by the time  you go in. They are LOUD, i'm telling you.2)their windows are not tinted or have any curtains - and they are positioned EXACTLY into the sun. From 10am-3pm you will be bombarded by the sun - add that with the loud birds - oh man. 3)Parking is hell, they have a tight lot that is shared with 3 other stores and house only like 12 spots in total. 4)Located on a busy Rt 25 - you might have to wait for 10-15 minutes for all the cars passing by before you exit the parking lot.  5)The front desk don't necessarily have the friendliest receptionist/assistants.It's too bad, with their good price and quality diagnostics/vets this place deserved four stars. I just made an appointment with this clinic for my two dogs.  Like the previous reviewer, I was only prompted to write this review because of my unpleasant experience with the receptionist Mary.  I've taken them to this place several times and have had the good fortune of having avoided direct contact with Mary thus far... til today.  But please know that the vet we use, Dr. Simone-Freilicher, is wonderful and so are her assistants.  I would give this place a 5 star if it were not for Mary. Her tone is rude and she is totally incompetent.  When I called, she asked me what she can help me with, when I was in mid sentence, she rudely interrupted me and told me she's going to put me on hold because there is another call coming in.  10 minutes later, I'm finally off hold.  I tell her I need to make a dental appointments for my two dogs.  She asked me for my last name and seemed confused that my name was so short... Then she asked me what my dog's name is.  I told her Hamachi.  Then she asked me what kind of animal Hamachi was.... I'm pretty sure we've mentioned several times that my pets were dogs and she even asked me what my dog's name was... But I told her dog. Then she asked me what kind of dog he is. I've never had a receptionist ask me this as all this information is in the computer database and a total waste of my time.  I asked her if this isn't information they already have--she told me that she's not at the computer but writing all this down.  ok, whatever moving on.  Then I told her my other dog's name is Millie.  Shocked, she asked me: There's another one?! Not only did I informed her I had two dogs in the beginning of our conversation, but she would know all this if she would only look it up on her computer, which she seems incapable of doing...
