I have 2 dogs and a cat. I only see Dr. Kretow so I can't comment on the other vets. Dr Kretow is the best. Hes patient, caring, answers all of your questions before you even get to ask them. All of staff from the receptionist to the techs are very friendly and the hospital is always clean. The front staff took their time to answer my 101 questions including estimates and appointment reminders. I didn't feel rushed at all. I feel as if my pets are cared for and not looked at as $ signs like other vets. Also, I love that they have pet portal so I can look up all of my pets vaccines history. Only downfall about this place is that they have no weekend hours =( Read Less

I have been using South Shore for about 8 years. The staff is always friendly and helpful. The doctors are very patient and great with follow through, contacting me in person with test results, etc. They are happy to answer any questions or concerns and if they don't have an answer they will get one. We have taken all three of our pets to South Shore for 8 years now. Dr. Ferguson is our primary Vet but each of the doctors that we have seen has been compassionate and knowledgeable. The facility is always clean and welcoming. The front desk assistants and technicians appear to truly love their jobs. We currently travel 30 minutes and pass three other Vet clinics to get there but would never consider going anywhere else. Excellent service. Read Less

DR. Rachel Fahey was so much help with my dog when she was getting Hives from a food allergy. She gave great advice, recommended a new food, the medicine she prescribed worked wonders, most of all took care of the problem with one visit cant thank you enough! We recently took our cat there to be put down. The staff and vet we saw could not have been kinder or more sympathetic. They took us into a room immediately so we didn't have to sit in the waiting room, they gave us plenty of time with our beloved cat so we could say good bye, they didn't rush us at all and they even took our payment in the room so we wouldn't have to go out in the waiting room again. They also treated our cat's body with respect, wrapping her in her blanket before placing her in a box for us. Today, we even got a sympathy card from them. I highly recommend this place. Read Less

We absolutely love Southshore vet. I have two fairly high maintenance cats, and Southshore has been wonderful. We see Dr. Fahey but have also seen the other vets. She is great! As a student, I don't have tons of extra funds and they always work with me to try the least invasive things first while maintaining the best possible care. The front office staff is wonderful! I have a male DSH that has urinary issues and from the first visit with Dr. Ferguson to the last emergency with Dr. Prosser this team continues to make my concerns and my animal's health their number one concern. When I had a cat get ill to the point he needed to be put down, Dr. Ferguson showed true dedication and passion for his care to the end. I'm on a tight budget so I may not be in as much as I should be, but there is NO WHERE else I would even consider taking my fur babies. The staff at South Shore Vet has helped us with Katie since she was a pup. I wouldn't trust anyone else with her care. Dr H has gotten us through allergy season, hot spots and tumors with Katie. Love South Shore..Dr Ferguson went above & beyond a few years ago when my cat Simone had some complicated health issues...she did research...gave me support and guidance..and was very sympathetic...Dr Hammerschmidt is great too...he did my other cat Louies dental surgery and was very thorough and the staff is pretty awesome too! We are no longer able to be patients at SSVH d/t moving, but we had Dr H when he was still with Animal Kingdom, and then followed him to his new practice b/c his care for our animals was wonderful. He saved our cat's life years ago when he was diagnosed with diabetes and severely ill... I truly believe Calvin would have died if Dr H hadn't taken care of him the way he did, and he offers us options/teaching for caring for Calvin in such a way that we could afford to save his life. When our other cat developed cancer, he helped us care for him in the best way possible right up to the end, and he & his staff were so compassionate & kind when we had to put him down. I have nothing but wonderful things to say about his care & professionalism, and wish we could still make the drive for our current pets! Congratulations on the new, beautiful hospital!Read Less

I have had Dr Hammerschmidt since he was at the original Animal Kingdom years ago. He has done a few different surgeries on both my dogs including spays eye lid surgery and mass cell tumor surgery that were cancerous masses. This is one of the only places I trust to care for my dogs and perform surgery or routine care and the staff is always so nice and helpful. I highly recommend them to everyone =) Read Less

the staff is amazing and so helpful! my cat always gets nervous and tends to go to the bathroom in the carrier, they always clean him up for me and wash out the carrier. it is also great that they always are lending a helping hand since i usually have two of my three small children with me as well.
