I have taken a few of my animals to this vet for years, due to how close it is to my home and because i didn't know any better. This vet will over charge you for EVERYTHING, unnecessarily so. They insisted I bring my 2 year old dog back in for her rabies vaccine, though when I checked her certificate that they had given me the previous year, it stated she had the rabies vaccine that would last her through 2012. Their prices are ASTRONOMICAL, to the point where I really don't believe they care about your pets at all, just what you are able to pay out for them. I adopted a kitten- they examined her thoroughly and then told me to bring her back in so they could fix her. I ended up bringing her to a shelter for the procedure, since they reduce their rates for fixing your pets, only to discover from them that she had already been fixed. This led me to believe that they were seriously going to open up my pet, just to stitch her back up again and charge me an arm and a leg for it because I wouldn't know any better. One of my dogs gets constant ear infections- I've brought her in twice, asked them to just exam her and give me the medicine to treat it, and both times they charged me an extra $75. When I asked what this charge was, they explained that it was for the vet to "clean the ear". Cleaning the ear consisted of them taking a piece of gauze, and nonchalantly wiping her ear for half a second. This procedure apparently costs $75, and don't even think about asking them to take that off your bill. I've been in the waiting room while they've been dealing with other costumers and in one case, there was an older woman close to tears because they charged her $600 for what she was led to believe to be a simple and regular examination for her toy pup. A friend of mine is a vet in LA and he told me that my experiences with this vet was not normal- and insisted I find a new vet on the island. Since then, I have moved all my animals to Babylon Animal Hospital, just a couple of miles down from Southgate. They are friendly, honest, thorough and REASONABLY priced. I wish I could get back the hundreds of dollars I threw at Southgate, for no apparent reason. I suggest everyone finds a vet that they know will care for their pet because they care about what your pet means to you. Money should never take priority over your pet's overall health and well being. I hope to save someone the frustration, aggravation and money I had to go through while going to this doctor. Read Less
