Horrible Experience
While in Delmar on Tuesday with my mother, and daughter, visiting my brother, my mother had the misfortune of hitting a cat. My brother told us to bring the cat to Canterbury because it was close to where he lives. We were all very upset by what happened and very anxious for the cat to recieve medical care. When we reach Canterbury, the attitude we were met with was unbelieveable. I felt from the moment we told them that it wasn't our cat, the cat had no value. They asked if I was willing to take responsibility for the cat, and I told them yes, hoping that I would see the vet jump into action, and yet nothing. I don't know if she didn't believe me or what. But as the cat lay there bleeding, she's speaking to me about him having no collar, no chip, it's going to cost between $500-$700 (how she knew this without even taking an x-ray is beyond me). Then she wanted to know what street the cat was hit on. She wanted Animal Control called. I finally raised my voice and asked her what the problem was, was she concerned about finances, is that why the cat is going unattended. She then told my daughter she was sorry that she had to see me behave like that, and then asked us to leave. After a little voice raising I did leave, and when I got into my vehicle, I said to my 9 yr old, "Mommy never cursed" and she said "I know that" so I asked her, " what were you thinking Brianna" and she said " I was thinking, why wasn't the woman helping the cat"? My brother later called to inquire about the cat, and was told, animal control came and the cat was euthanized. Financially I consider myself blessed, and because I was ridden with guilt, would have paid whatever to have cared for this cats recovery. I am appauled by this vet's behavior, and still heavy hearted for that cat.
