I had taken my dog to the Veterinary Center of East Northport numerous times. I was referred by a friend to see Dr. Gantt for a ALC/meniscus tear on my dog. I had a regular vet in Miller place where I live. That was about 3 years ago. We had previously discussed cleaning my dogs teeth as well. The surgery appeared to be at least semi-successful at first, although she kept limping on and off for almost 2 years after. Then finally, the artificial ligament that was placed , snapped, leaving a rolled up ball on her knee. Now I didn't even get upset at this predicament, because nothing in medicine, human or otherwise, is guaranteed 100%. Stuff happens. So we went back recently to get her boosters two weeks ago and have her teeth cleaned under anesthesia last week.. today we returned for the final stages of two different shots. I asked the nice assistant about a possible complication from the dental cleaning and surgery (she had her gums cut back because they were overgrown). I asked the assistant if Dr. Gantt was in surgery, he was not, he was basically just behind a door in the next room. SHE TOLD ME IT WOULD BE 20$ TO ASK THE DOCTOR A QUESTION!! REALLY!??! She said "you can call him instead?" He was RIGHT THERE! So I spent about $600 for a cleaning last week, and the doctor cannot answer a quick concern without more payment? That is straight up nickel and dime money grubbing. Not to mention I paid around $1800 for a surgery that failed, and I was downright decent about that. So I was a bit put off, and I said, forget it . Just give me the 2nd step of the boosters that we came for. She was taken in a back room , and I paid my bill, which NOW included a TECH VISIT charge of $29 to administer the shots. Again, money grubbing tactic. I'm a dentist, when you make an appointment with me to do a procedure, say a root canal, you pay for the root canal.. I don't charge you an extra $29 to actually see me so you can then pay for the actual procedure. Also, any doctor should see patients for post operative visits/questions without charging the patient more. I can't imagine how my patients would feel if they wanted to see me for pain after an extraction, and I told them, "I'll see you but it will be $50 more if you want me to look at a possible complication from the surgery I DID"!!!!!Unbelievable. So in closing. paid good money for a failed knee surgery, and instead of being treated with extra special care or concern, I'm (my dog) still seen as sponge that is to be squeezed of every last drop of water you can get. Thats pathetic. I will NOT be back. Hope the $29 tech visit and $20 "Ask the doc a question" fee was worth it.Edit: anyone reading these reviews will note that there is a review TWO days after I left mine for this veterinarian from yelper Mjp P. This yelper is from San Francisco California but apparently they take their cat to Long Island to be seen for care. It's miraculous that this yelper states he's a physician and gives a five star review when just three days ago I stated I'm a dentist and gave a one star review. Oh, by the way, he knows every persons name in the office!!! How convenient. Do you LIVE there? Or just make frequent visits from San Fran? lol . This is obviously a scam review , or a personal friend of the office, and should not be allowed on yelp. His account was miraculously created 2 days after I left my review and this is his only yelp review. Bogus! Read Less
