I feel very fortunate to have been referred to Dr. Perkins by a co-worker who swore by her for her cats' dental procedures. I am a rescuer and cat mom and I so very much appreciate that everyone on staff truly understands the challenges the rescue community faces. It is so hard to find a veterinarian in the community who is this caring, compassionate, knowledgeable and skilled. I cannot say enough good things about Dr. Perkins, and her staff is always compassionate and helpful. Sure, there are clinics that are fancier and more state-of-the-art, but there is genuine warmth and caring here.

I love Dr. Perkins! She is so knowledgeable, honest, compassionate and caring. She is also very patient listening to my questions/ concerns and provides good information and feedback. My 4 year old dog has been seeing her since she was a puppy and Dr. Perkins is great with her. It is hard to get through on the phone on most days, but once you do, her receptionists are great. They're both very direct, but I don't think they're rude at all. They're always really helpful and sweet to me when I speak with them. Parking sucks overall since it's in a residential neighborhood and near the Murray Hill LIRR station. Plus, there is alternate side parking. Sometimes I've been lucky, but it's best to go with someone who can watch the car while you run in.Overall, Dr. Perkins is an amazing vet and her staff is great. Crappy parking would never keep me away.

This review is long overdue. I was introduced to Dr. Perkins by a friend more than 8 years ago and will be forever grateful. She is truly a doctor who is more concerned with the care of your animals than making a buck. Her office is not modern, sleek or sophisticated - it is more like stepping into your grandmothers home; filled with warmth and the clutter of her love for animals. I am blessed and my pets are blessed to have found her!!

Dr.perkins seems to really care about the pets. She usually take her time with my dog no matter how busy the place is and it's usually very busy. I been taking my dog here since he was a puppy and this place is fantastic. The only drawback is that apparently she is very popular. Getting an appointment to see her usually take more than a week. This isn't an actual hospital so if you have an emergency, you need to go somewhere else. If you can wait more than a week to see a vet though, she's probably the best in town. I have been to 4 different vets in the area. A lot of them care more about money and gouge you than about getting your pets better. Dr.Perkins seems to be the only one I went to that actually put the health of my dog before anything else.

Dr Perkins is an amazing woman. It took a while to book an appointment, since her practice was not accepting any new patients. It was an important matter where I thought there was something potentially serious with my pup. When we finally got the appointment, she put my mind at ease, and everything turned out alright. She is the most kind hearted veterinarian that I've met. So very knowledgeable in her field. In my opinion, that is why her practice is booked. As far as the 1 star reviews go, they are most likely due to the inability to book the appointment. From what I heard, there is a no nonsense, blunt speaking receptionist who really is, a kind soul.. deep down. Maybe you caught her at the wrong time? The girl who booked our appointment was very accommodating. It doesn't hurt to try again and explain your situation. Hopefully everyone gets to see how great of a vet Dr Perkins is.

I called in to ask a question for internal medicine consultation and she rudely responded me by saying "I don't know what you are talking about". I think even being a receptionist at a veterinary hospital, you should be informed more or at least be INTERESTED to hear what phone calls are for. She did not even seem to care what I was calling in for nor interested to help me out. She just told me she had no idea and I should not talk to her about it when all I said was consultation about my dog's trachea. Then she just hung up on me when I told her she should not answer to me in that manner because I asked her politely throughout the conversation. I called in because of my dog whom I care for and just wanted to ask a question if it was possible to get a consultation. It was so far the WORST phone service I had.
I do not know how doctors are here so I have no comment for that but i think receptionists should at least have a small knowledge about medical problems or be opened to hear about it.

I have been brining my kitty here since she was a baby. She just died on Monday at 13 years old. I will miss this place. Dr. Perkins is such a wonderful Doctor. You can tell she really cares about the animals and has so much compassion for them. My kitty Ismini has been pretty tough to handle whenever she went to the vet, but Dr. Perkins was always so gentle and good with her despite the growling. The prices are very affordable. The staff is nice and pleasant. Dr. Perkins is the best vet and one of the nicest people I have met.

If you go, ONLY take an appointment with Dr Perkins. (Don't take an appt with the other guy, he's there on Thursdays I think.) Sadly there are fewer and fewer vets like her. The past few years I've seen and heard stories of both indifferent insensitive vets that will just overcharge you, or diagnose pets for way more than they need; and when your pet is sick and you don't know what's wrong, you are much more vulnerable to getting taken advantage of. There are a couple in my neighborhood like that, and I would rather travel the extra distance for Dr. Perkins. Trust is a really tough virtue in this business.

Flushing Veterinary Hospital is always very busy, but they always try to accommodate, especially if it is a serious need for the pet. However, don't be alarmed by possible abruptness of the waiting room staff. They are always very busy. The care each of my pets has received outweighs everything else. They really are a good team.

My cat had a loose tooth and was very red along he gum line. Decided that now was a good time as any to take him for a visit to he vet. Chose here since it was the closest place. I was very worried the staff would be annoyed because my cat is a whinny baby and meows a lot when he is in a new place. But it was a very good experience , very friendly staff. After the visit we scheduled an appointment the following week for the tooth extraction. I think the job was well done as my cats gum line was no longer red and hes eating very comfortably now. Dr. Perkins was very nice to me and my cat, very thorough in explaining what was going to happen and was very friendly in answering all my questions.

Our dogs have been patients of Dr. Perkins for 27 years. I cannot imagine going anywhere else. It is hard to get an appointment, but on the basis of service, expertise, communication, and rapport with the animals and owners, I rate her superb. She has delivered puppies, done surgeries and biopsies, and treated our pets medically for maladies major and minor. She finds permanent homes for transitioning animals, as well. I have no reservations whatsoever in recommending her as a vet. Plus her staff is equally committed and reflective of her attitude.

I have mixed idea of this place. The female vet who works there most of the time is absolutely great. Very sweet woman. The male vet isn't as good, but he's not there as often. They seem knowledgable and do their job, and they don't charge that much.
My one problem which has caused me to seek help elsewhere is their receptionist. When it's one of the younger receptionists, they are pretty helpful. But there is an older one that works full-time there that is the WORST. Extremely rude and incompetent. As another reviewer has mentioned, she will give you a time and not honor it, claiming YOU were the one that made the mistake. I can accept it if she was rude and competent or maybe even incompetent, but pleasant. But this woman is terrible and should be fired. I can guarantee I am not the only person she has turned away. If your pet needs help, do NOT call this place in case you get this dreaded receptionist. One time I called and was put on hold 5 times and she was confused as to who I was each time. The other times I call, she puts me on hold for 20-40+ minutes or she'll say, "I'll call you back with absolutely no response."
My suggestion is this: call them and if they don't help you immediately or if you hear a hag on the other line, hang up and find a place elsewhere. If there is someone there ready to help you with your appointment, then make it (if it's with Dr. Perkins).

Time to vent. I need a new veterinarian. I called my furbabies vet (Flushing Veterinarian Hospital on Murray St. in Flushing) to say I MIGHT be 5-10 minutes late. The b assistant said no we won't be able to see you then. Really?. I ended up getting there on time though. I walk in & she says to me "Didn't I tell you not to come. I said no I am ON TIME. She mumbles on about the vet might not see her blah blah. A few minutes later she comes out takes my dog & tells me to stay. Weird, I always go with my pup to see the vet & ask questions etc. I say hold up you don't even know why I'm here. Oh for a visit & vaccines, the receptionist wrote it in the book. Boom she's gone. Wrong that's not the main reason. so as I'm waiting to tell the receptionist get that b back, the b comes back hands me my dog and leaves. I'm like wtf. Receptionist tells me $95 I said um no. I explained why I was there & that wasn't taken care of. This b assistant gets mouthy telling me well the vet is not going to see her that I didnt tell them that when I made the appt. She then asks the receptionist did she tell you. She replies idk she could have it was over a week ago she made the appt. Then the b asst goes in again how I was late blah blah.(mind you the man that walked in the same time as me was 1 hour late!!!! She mumbled but didnt give him the bs) To sum it up I said I am not going to pay $95 for a visit when you didn't take care of why I'm here. She leaves and comes to tell me well you don't have to pay but you can't come back here. Adios not fn paying for that bs service. I don't know what the hell you did with my dog for those 2 mins. Sure wasn't much for a 2 min visit. I never had a bad experience at this place but today was something else. Her ugly attitude fit her ugly face. That's a shame bc I like the Dr. I was beginning to wonder if the Dr was even really there. Never have I been treated/disrespected by a business like that. I wanted to punch her in the throat sooooo bad but no no I behaved.

Okay, normally I hardly care about writing reviews, but i feel a need to express my experience as well as single out one employee that all of you future clients want to be aware of. Dr.Perkins is great, the prices are great, place smells like a pet shop but no DUH to all those people who complained of that smell. Now that one person you should watch out for is Cathy, the older receptionist, I walk in there and she immediately gives me a sarcastic-rude remark upon entering. She has an attitude whether its over the phone or in person. She claims i was late even though i heard otherwise over the phone when i booked the appt. and marked it. I tell her that i didnt hear her wrong on the phone call and that Ive brought my last cat at the same time before when he had to get neutered. And here's the best part, she says "Then go somewhere else" Go somewhere else? THATS your professional response to a customer? Whether im right or wrong, thats not how you talk to someone. Luckily a tech comes in and says they will keep my cat overnight and spay her the next day, very friendly. Later i find out that this receptionist is the vet's relative, NO WONDER she hasnt been fired. Im sorry but this is a business and just because your relative is the doctor it doesnt mean that you get to treat HER clients with such disrespect. It can truly be a deal breaker because a receptionist is the first face you see and the person you take care of the bill with, you have no place in the business if you dont have social skills. P.s. if you look at the rest of the reviews, famous Cathy is mentioned several times, the rest of the staff is super friendly. Dr.Perkins, do your business a favor, and keep family out of it if this type of business ethic is their idea of a good one.

She is top notch and has been very nice to me and my animals. And as far as comments about smells---it is an animal hospital that has cats for adoption and also boards animals. When I got my first pet almost 3 years ago, a friend recommended to go see her, she did not steer me wrong. I was a student 3 years ago and didn't have a full-time job, money was tight and she completely understood, she charged me less than she usually did and when it came time to get him neutered she told me how to get a discount. Now i'm fully employed, I have added a new member, a rescue cat, and I take them both for their annual check up with Dr. Perkins. I would have given this hospital five stars but the place reeks of animal waste, I understand that it's an animal hospital but proper care and maintenance of the animals that live there would eliminate most odors.The staff are not friendly at all (except for the young girl and Lisa), the others seem miserable and are not people friendly.On that note, I think Dr. Perkins is top notch and their pricing is very competitive. I would have given her five stars if it weren't for her staff, again with the exception of Lisa and the young girl (forgot her name).

I was recommended by Dr. Perkin's receptionist Kathy. Kathy has been a loyal, generous and at times grouchy friend for the last 15 years. I've read all the reviews about Dr. Perkins, her office and her staff, and I have to say all that was said is true. Dr. Perkins is the kindest, most empathetic vet there is. The office is dated, (but quite homey) and at times may smell of animals and such, but take into consideration that she doesn't have a large staff that can keep up with the twice a day cleaning that a vet's office needs to stay odor free. And to hire the help she'd need to accomplish that would mean she'd have to hike the charges for her vet services in order to pay someone to clean the office constantly. All of you have mentioned that she is reasonable and doesn't charge for every friggin' thing she does for you, yet ever wonder why? Hmmmm.

I have known Dr. Perkins since she started with the former owner about 25 years ago. She has cared for all of my dogs, and for the grieving owners as well. I have complete and total trust in Dr. Perkins. From the simple annual check-up to the diagnosis and comfortable treatment of debilitating disease, there is no one like Dr. Perkins. She is kind, caring and compassionate. I travel to Flushing from central Suffolk after having tried in vain to search for another vet I could trust. Get over the dated office, and onto what really counts--the hands down best veterinarian ever!
Dr. Perkins is so cheerful, warm, and funny that I wish she treated us human animals too. She is also a very honest and skillful pro who cares not only for our furry friends but for us too.

This hospital has been graced with the occupancy of one, fantastic, Dr. Terri Perkins. Dr. Perkins is from Georgia. Not only is she professional, experienced and knowledgeable, she is down to earth. This person takes everything into account. Your income, the diagnosis, all possible treatments and their possible outcomes, the amount of stress the animal will endure, etc, and gives honest answers. This vet is NOT trying to clean out your wallet with lots of unnecessary testing, nor does she undertreat. In fact, I overheard that she helps so many rescues for little or no money, that her yearly salary isn't too much for a vet. People are actually trying to establish fundraisers for her, so she can funds her pro bono works. She also has incredible sensitivity when handling animals, as well as distraught owners. Very very patient. Dr. Perkins' only drawback is, she is sooo popular, that it's hard to get an appointment some weeks, unless it's a real emergency. Staff will try very hard to squeeze you in if it's really important. Try Dr. Perkins. You won't be sorry.

No matter how snippy my dog can be, or how loud he barks, Dr. Perkins handles him with love and always spends a lot of time with him. I had an emergency today, and because Dr. Perkins was out of the office, I went to another vet in the neighborhood. Going to this new vet made me truly appreciate Dr. Perkins even more than I already do. At least I know that in her office, my dog won’t be given unnecessary medications that he "needs" or have other made up issues when all he had was an eye infection. Dr. Perkins is great!

I have been going to Dr Perkins for over 15 years. I take care of strays and have indoor cats and dogs. Dr Perkins has always been honest and caring and has a true love for all creatures. I have met other vets in the past and cannot say the same, they are only in it for the money no compassion. And compassion is important to the pet and the owner. I drive 30 minutes with lots of traffic just to have her look at my animals. And there have been many over the years. Thank you to the staff and the Doctor from me and all my furry friends.

Why do NYers put up with such third-rate, crappy accommodations when they charge so much for everything - is it inertia and/or greed? Why does't she expand to a better place and hire more staff.? I don't get it - she's a great vet but the environment is disgusting!

This was the first vet I've ever been to, so I can't compare it to anywhere else I've been.I bought my pet rabbit here for his first checkup, it's very difficult to find a vet for exotic pets, but after a while I realized this place was very near my home and I called to check if they care for rabbits.When I called the first time, a friendly-young sounding voice spoke to me.Today, when I visited, the receptionist was not the same person I spoke to on the phone, she was kind of grouchy. Reminded me of one of my elderly co-workers, not very friendly.The vet was very kind! I didn't catch her name but I think its the Dr. Perkins everyone here loves!My only complaint is that this place seems very in the ruin and it smells very bad!

Okay, this place REEKS. Reeks of smelly cats and dogs the second you step in, but don't let it deter you because Dr. Perkins is super nice and you want the best care for your furry friend.Dr. Perkins was caring and seemed to love all the animals. I took my kitty here for a check up and spay, and she was well taken cared of. Even got a mouse catnip toy when I picked her up. So why not 5 stars? Well, like I said, the place reeks and the receptionist is terrible. She seems to hate her job, her life, and anyone who walks into the office. So when I brought in my kitty for the spay, she just handed me a waiver to sign without giving me any of the risks for surgery and then when asked, she shrugged and said you know, the usual risks. NO I DON'T KNOW, LADY! Why don't you do your job for once and tell me what they are? Then she proceeds to misinform me about pick up time, making me waste a vacation day and $30 bucks in cab fare. :(So boo on you crappy receptionist and hurray for Dr. Perkins! (Please fire her soon.)(HOT TIP: Do a search for Muffin's Pet Connection, and you can spay your cat or dog at much cheaper prices. Plus it's your civic duty to spay / neuter your pets! We have had cats for many years now. Have seen the good, bad and ugly of the Vets. We happened to find Dr Perkins' hospital by chance when we were ordering Muffings Spay Certificates. We had 3 kittens who had reached maturity and it ""was time"". We had to travel quite a ways out of our way to get to Flushing Vet Hospital. But let us tell you, it was worth the trip. The entire staff is extremely courteous, kind and friendly. The good doctor did a marvelous job ""fixing"" our kitties. We plan to return with our other cats. Busy phone, get over it-DR PERKINS IS A1- The cats think so TOO!!!

Dr. Perkins' is in high demand, she triesher hardest to see all emergencies ASAP and will stick to your appointment time unless an emergency case arises, she wants to give your pet her undivided attention! If something is seriously wrong with you pet's blood work she would call you right away! I highly recommend her. I find it hard to trust the vet in our surrounding area!

I feel very fortunate to have been referred to Dr. Perkins by a co-worker who swore by her for her cats' dental procedures. I am a rescuer and cat mom and I so very much appreciate that everyone on staff truly understands the challenges the rescue community faces. It is so hard to find a veterinarian in the community who is this caring, compassionate, knowledgeable and skilled. I cannot say enough good things about Dr. Perkins, and her staff is always compassionate and helpful. Sure, there are clinics that are fancier and more state-of-the-art, but there is genuine warmth and caring here.

I love Dr. Perkins! She is so knowledgeable, honest, compassionate and caring. She is also very patient listening to my questions/ concerns and provides good information and feedback. My 4 year old dog has been seeing her since she was a puppy and Dr. Perkins is great with her. It is hard to get through on the phone on most days, but once you do, her receptionists are great. They're both very direct, but I don't think they're rude at all. They're always really helpful and sweet to me when I speak with them. Parking sucks overall since it's in a residential neighborhood and near the Murray Hill LIRR station. Plus, there is alternate side parking. Sometimes I've been lucky, but it's best to go with someone who can watch the car while you run in.Overall, Dr. Perkins is an amazing vet and her staff is great. Crappy parking would never keep me away.

She is truly a doctor who is more concerned with the care of your animals than making a buck. Her office is not modern, sleek or sophisticated - it is more like stepping into your grandmothers home; filled with warmth and the clutter of her love for animals. I am blessed and my pets are blessed to have found her!!

Dr.perkins seems to really care about the pets. She usually take her time with my dog no matter how busy the place is and it's usually very busy. I been taking my dog here since he was a puppy and this place is fantastic. The only drawback is that apparently she is very popular. Getting an appointment to see her usually take more than a week. This isn't an actual hospital so if you have an emergency, you need to go somewhere else. If you can wait more than a week to see a vet though, she's probably the best in town. I have been to 4 different vets in the area. A lot of them care more about money and gouge you than about getting your pets better. Dr.Perkins seems to be the only one I went to that actually put the health of my dog before anything else.

Dr Perkins is a "veteran" Vet. Knowledgable, smart, kind, always w a smile on her face, so caring. She will never give you the run around about your pets condition. She's honest and very confident vet. I would never take my pet anywhere else. Im so fortunate to have found her to take care of my Daysi. We DR PERKINS!!!!

Dr Perkins is an amazing woman. It took a while to book an appointment, since her practice was not accepting any new patients. It was an important matter where I thought there was something potentially serious with my pup. When we finally got the appointment, she put my mind at ease, and everything turned out alright. She is the most kind hearted veterinarian that I've met. So very knowledgeable in her field. In my opinion, that is why her practice is booked. As far as the 1 star reviews go, they are most likely due to the inability to book the appointment. From what I heard, there is a no nonsense, blunt speaking receptionist who really is, a kind soul.. deep down. Maybe you caught her at the wrong time? The girl who booked our appointment was very accommodating. It doesn't hurt to try again and explain your situation. Hopefully everyone gets to see how great of a vet Dr Perkins is.

I called in to ask a question for internal medicine consultation and she rudely responded me by saying "I don't know what you are talking about". I think even being a receptionist at a veterinary hospital, you should be informed more or at least be INTERESTED to hear what phone calls are for. She did not even seem to care what I was calling in for nor interested to help me out. She just told me she had no idea and I should not talk to her about it when all I said was consultation about my dog's trachea. Then she just hung up on me when I told her she should not answer to me in that manner because I asked her politely throughout the conversation. I called in because of my dog whom I care for and just wanted to ask a question if it was possible to get a consultation. It was so far the WORST phone service I had.
I do not know how doctors are here so I have no comment for that but i think receptionists should at least have a small knowledge about medical problems or be opened to hear about it.

I have been brining my kitty here since she was a baby. She just died on Monday at 13 years old. I will miss this place. Dr. Perkins is such a wonderful Doctor. You can tell she really cares about the animals and has so much compassion for them. My kitty Ismini has been pretty tough to handle whenever she went to the vet, but Dr. Perkins was always so gentle and good with her despite the growling. The prices are very affordable. The staff is nice and pleasant. Dr. Perkins is the best vet and one of the nicest people I have met.

If you go, ONLY take an appointment with Dr Perkins. (Don't take an appt with the other guy, he's there on Thursdays I think.) Sadly there are fewer and fewer vets like her. The past few years I've seen and heard stories of both indifferent insensitive vets that will just overcharge you, or diagnose pets for way more than they need; and when your pet is sick and you don't know what's wrong, you are much more vulnerable to getting taken advantage of. There are a couple in my neighborhood like that, and I would rather travel the extra distance for Dr. Perkins. Trust is a really tough virtue in this business.

Flushing Veterinary Hospital is always very busy, but they always try to accommodate, especially if it is a serious need for the pet. However, don't be alarmed by possible abruptness of the waiting room staff. They are always very busy. The care each of my pets has received outweighs everything else. They really are a good team.

My cat had a loose tooth and was very red along he gum line. Decided that now was a good time as any to take him for a visit to he vet. Chose here since it was the closest place. I was very worried the staff would be annoyed because my cat is a whinny baby and meows a lot when he is in a new place. But it was a very good experience , very friendly staff. After the visit we scheduled an appointment the following week for the tooth extraction. I think the job was well done as my cats gum line was no longer red and hes eating very comfortably now. Dr. Perkins was very nice to me and my cat, very thorough in explaining what was going to happen and was very friendly in answering all my questions.

Our dogs have been patients of Dr. Perkins for 27 years. I cannot imagine going anywhere else. It is hard to get an appointment, but on the basis of service, expertise, communication, and rapport with the animals and owners, I rate her superb. She has delivered puppies, done surgeries and biopsies, and treated our pets medically for maladies major and minor. She finds permanent homes for transitioning animals, as well. I have no reservations whatsoever in recommending her as a vet. Plus her staff is equally committed and reflective of her attitude.

I have mixed idea of this place. The female vet who works there most of the time is absolutely great. Very sweet woman. The male vet isn't as good, but he's not there as often. They seem knowledgable and do their job, and they don't charge that much.
My one problem which has caused me to seek help elsewhere is their receptionist. When it's one of the younger receptionists, they are pretty helpful. But there is an older one that works full-time there that is the WORST. Extremely rude and incompetent. As another reviewer has mentioned, she will give you a time and not honor it, claiming YOU were the one that made the mistake. I can accept it if she was rude and competent or maybe even incompetent, but pleasant. But this woman is terrible and should be fired. I can guarantee I am not the only person she has turned away. If your pet needs help, do NOT call this place in case you get this dreaded receptionist. One time I called and was put on hold 5 times and she was confused as to who I was each time. The other times I call, she puts me on hold for 20-40+ minutes or she'll say, "I'll call you back with absolutely no response."
My suggestion is this: call them and if they don't help you immediately or if you hear a hag on the other line, hang up and find a place elsewhere. If there is someone there ready to help you with your appointment, then make it (if it's with Dr. Perkins).

Time to vent. I need a new veterinarian. I called my furbabies vet (Flushing Veterinarian Hospital on Murray St. in Flushing) to say I MIGHT be 5-10 minutes late. The b assistant said no we won't be able to see you then. Really?. I ended up getting there on time though. I walk in & she says to me "Didn't I tell you not to come. I said no I am ON TIME. She mumbles on about the vet might not see her blah blah. A few minutes later she comes out takes my dog & tells me to stay. Weird, I always go with my pup to see the vet & ask questions etc. I say hold up you don't even know why I'm here. Oh for a visit & vaccines, the receptionist wrote it in the book. Boom she's gone. Wrong that's not the main reason. so as I'm waiting to tell the receptionist get that b back, the b comes back hands me my dog and leaves. I'm like wtf. Receptionist tells me $95 I said um no. I explained why I was there & that wasn't taken care of. This b assistant gets mouthy telling me well the vet is not going to see her that I didnt tell them that when I made the appt. She then asks the receptionist did she tell you. She replies idk she could have it was over a week ago she made the appt. Then the b asst goes in again how I was late blah blah.(mind you the man that walked in the same time as me was 1 hour late!!!! She mumbled but didnt give him the bs) To sum it up I said I am not going to pay $95 for a visit when you didn't take care of why I'm here. She leaves and comes to tell me well you don't have to pay but you can't come back here. Adios not fn paying for that bs service. I don't know what the hell you did with my dog for those 2 mins. Sure wasn't much for a 2 min visit. I never had a bad experience at this place but today was something else. Her ugly attitude fit her ugly face. That's a shame bc I like the Dr. I was beginning to wonder if the Dr was even really there. Never have I been treated/disrespected by a business like that. I wanted to punch her in the throat sooooo bad but no no I behaved.

Okay, normally I hardly care about writing reviews, but i feel a need to express my experience as well as single out one employee that all of you future clients want to be aware of. Dr.Perkins is great, the prices are great, place smells like a pet shop but no DUH to all those people who complained of that smell. Now that one person you should watch out for is Cathy, the older receptionist, I walk in there and she immediately gives me a sarcastic-rude remark upon entering. She has an attitude whether its over the phone or in person. She claims i was late even though i heard otherwise over the phone when i booked the appt. and marked it. I tell her that i didnt hear her wrong on the phone call and that Ive brought my last cat at the same time before when he had to get neutered. And here's the best part, she says "Then go somewhere else" Go somewhere else? THATS your professional response to a customer? Whether im right or wrong, thats not how you talk to someone. Luckily a tech comes in and says they will keep my cat overnight and spay her the next day, very friendly. Later i find out that this receptionist is the vet's relative, NO WONDER she hasnt been fired. Im sorry but this is a business and just because your relative is the doctor it doesnt mean that you get to treat HER clients with such disrespect. It can truly be a deal breaker because a receptionist is the first face you see and the person you take care of the bill with, you have no place in the business if you dont have social skills. P.s. if you look at the rest of the reviews, famous Cathy is mentioned several times, the rest of the staff is super friendly. Dr.Perkins, do your business a favor, and keep family out of it if this type of business ethic is their idea of a good one.

When I got my first pet almost 3 years ago, a friend recommended to go see her, she did not steer me wrong. I was a student 3 years ago and didn't have a full-time job, money was tight and she completely understood, she charged me less than she usually did and when it came time to get him neutered she told me how to get a discount. Now i'm fully employed, I have added a new member, a rescue cat, and I take them both for their annual check up with Dr. Perkins. It's not as shiny as other places I've seen, and the place definitely has a bit of a smell, but the service is excellent and I feel she has my pets best interest at heart.

I was recommended by Dr. Perkin's receptionist Kathy. Kathy has been a loyal, generous and at times grouchy friend for the last 15 years. I've read all the reviews about Dr. Perkins, her office and her staff, and I have to say all that was said is true. Dr. Perkins is the kindest, most empathetic vet there is. The office is dated, (but quite homey) and at times may smell of animals and such, but take into consideration that she doesn't have a large staff that can keep up with the twice a day cleaning that a vet's office needs to stay odor free. And to hire the help she'd need to accomplish that would mean she'd have to hike the charges for her vet services in order to pay someone to clean the office constantly. All of you have mentioned that she is reasonable and doesn't charge for every friggin' thing she does for you, yet ever wonder why? Hmmmm.

I have known Dr. Perkins since she started with the former owner about 25 years ago. She has cared for all of my dogs, and for the grieving owners as well. I have complete and total trust in Dr. Perkins. From the simple annual check-up to the diagnosis and comfortable treatment of debilitating disease, there is no one like Dr. Perkins. She is kind, caring and compassionate. I travel to Flushing from central Suffolk after having tried in vain to search for another vet I could trust. Get over the dated office, and onto what really counts--the hands down best veterinarian ever!

This hospital has been graced with the occupancy of one, fantastic, Dr. Terri Perkins. Dr. Perkins is from Georgia. Not only is she professional, experienced and knowledgeable, she is down to earth. This person takes everything into account. Your income, the diagnosis, all possible treatments and their possible outcomes, the amount of stress the animal will endure, etc, and gives honest answers. This vet is NOT trying to clean out your wallet with lots of unnecessary testing, nor does she undertreat. In fact, I overheard that she helps so many rescues for little or no money, that her yearly salary isn't too much for a vet. People are actually trying to establish fundraisers for her, so she can funds her pro bono works. She also has incredible sensitivity when handling animals, as well as distraught owners. Very very patient. Dr. Perkins' only drawback is, she is sooo popular, that it's hard to get an appointment some weeks, unless it's a real emergency. Staff will try very hard to squeeze you in if it's really important. Try Dr. Perkins. You won't be sorry.

No matter how snippy my dog can be, or how loud he barks, Dr. Perkins handles him with love and always spends a lot of time with him. I had an emergency today, and because Dr. Perkins was out of the office, I went to another vet in the neighborhood. Going to this new vet made me truly appreciate Dr. Perkins even more than I already do. At least I know that in her office, my dog won’t be given unnecessary medications that he "needs" or have other made up issues when all he had was an eye infection. Dr. Perkins is great!

I have been going to Dr Perkins for over 15 years. I take care of strays and have indoor cats and dogs. Dr Perkins has always been honest and caring and has a true love for all creatures. I have met other vets in the past and cannot say the same, they are only in it for the money no compassion. And compassion is important to the pet and the owner. I drive 30 minutes with lots of traffic just to have her look at my animals. And there have been many over the years. Thank you to the staff and the Doctor from me and all my furry friends.

Why do NYers put up with such third-rate, crappy accommodations when they charge so much for everything - is it inertia and/or greed? Why does't she expand to a better place and hire more staff.? I don't get it - she's a great vet but the environment is disgusting!

This was the first vet I've ever been to, so I can't compare it to anywhere else I've been.I bought my pet rabbit here for his first checkup, it's very difficult to find a vet for exotic pets, but after a while I realized this place was very near my home and I called to check if they care for rabbits.When I called the first time, a friendly-young sounding voice spoke to me.Today, when I visited, the receptionist was not the same person I spoke to on the phone, she was kind of grouchy. Reminded me of one of my elderly co-workers, not very friendly.The vet was very kind! I didn't catch her name but I think its the Dr. Perkins everyone here loves!My only complaint is that this place seems very in the ruin and it smells very bad!

Okay, this place REEKS. I took my kitty here for a check up and spay, and she was well taken cared of. Even got a mouse catnip toy when I picked her up. So why not 5 stars? Well, like I said, the place reeks and the receptionist is terrible. She seems to hate her job, her life, and anyone who walks into the office. So when I brought in my kitty for the spay, she just handed me a waiver to sign without giving me any of the risks for surgery and then when asked, she shrugged and said you know, the usual risks. NO I DON'T KNOW, LADY! Why don't you do your job for once and tell me what they are? Then she proceeds to misinform me about pick up time, making me waste a vacation day and $30 bucks in cab fare. :(So boo on you crappy receptionist and hurray for Dr. Perkins! (Please fire her soon.)(HOT TIP: Do a search for Muffin's Pet Connection, and you can spay your cat or dog at much cheaper prices. Plus it's your civic duty to spay / neuter your pets! I am now on my second pet and using dr.perkins was a no brainer. She took amazing care of my rabbit and I immediately brought my new puppy to her when it was time for his puppy shots. Not only is she caring and very good with all the animals but her promises are well below eveyrone else in the area and she doesn't hit you for first time visit fees when you are going for a specific reason.My pup Rocky needs to be neutered soon and she will be the first call I make.

We have had cats for many years now. Have seen the good, bad and ugly of the Vets. We happened to find Dr Perkins' hospital by chance when we were ordering Muffings Spay Certificates. We had 3 kittens who had reached maturity and it ""was time"". We had to travel quite a ways out of our way to get to Flushing Vet Hospital. But let us tell you, it was worth the trip. The entire staff is extremely courteous, kind and friendly. The good doctor did a marvelous job ""fixing"" our kitties. We plan to return with our other cats. Busy phone, get over it-DR PERKINS IS A1- The cats think so TOO!!!

If you leave your animal in Dr. Perkins' hands then know you have done the best for your pet. If Dr. Perkins' can't do it, nobody can. Her knowledge and caring are unsurpassed. Don't be put off if you get a busy signal or the staff the leaves you on hold... Dr. Perkins' is in high demand, she triesher hardest to see all emergencies ASAP and will stick to your appointment time unless an emergency case arises, she wants to give your pet her undivided attention! If something is seriously wrong with you pet's blood work she would call you right away! I highly recommend her. I find it hard to trust the vet in our surrounding area!
