Thursday 5/24/18 I will start with the positive by saying the staff is friendly. However, friendly does not replace competence. I had the unfortunate pleasure of having Dr. Dattner exam my dog last Thur. We had purchased our puppy from a pet store (Shake a Paw) & the contract requires us to use either of their affiliated vets. I chose for convenience unknowingly, my puppy was home for all of 1 day and started to vomit and have diarrhea and refused to eat. Dr. Dattner voiced his concern over Parvo virus and letting me know it's lethal for puppies (panic mode ensued). He recommended I keep my baby overnight since dehydration can occur leading to a bad outcome, plus he stated the pets store would be paying for it. I point blank asked him if it were he, would he have his family stay here (at GCPAH) overnight due to potential diagnosis or move him the West Hills Vet Hospital with round the clock care. He told me to keep him there & they will do testing and hydrate, plus, we can visit. Friday 5/25/18Called first thing in the morning ~9a and was told by phone he DID NOT have Parvo Virus, when a professional tells you this, you are inclined to believe it was ruled out via testing. So needless to say, our family was ecstatic to hear the news. 1pm went to visit and spoke to Dr. Silverman just to understand we're they stood with his diagnosis and inquired about his lab work. His answer was, it wasn't done, then I incidentally said, minimally I'm glad to know Parvo was ruled out. Well to my horror, his response was, I don't believe that was done either. I will check and make sure it gets sent out. For his part, I want to thank Dr. Silverman for his follow through. So my baby stayed another night awaiting blood work since he required hydration.Sat. 5/26/18My kids and I went there by 1pm to see him & to review his lab results with yet another vet, she voiced concern and I immediately took my baby out of there to West Hills. Within an hour, they did a SNAP test and diagnosed him with Parvo Virus. Such ineptitude & carelessness is repugnant & deplorable. My baby lost 2 days of his short lived life there. I called the office and pointedly asked why didn't this test get administered in the office, especially since I was told how dangerous it is for puppies, the answer is shameful, the test is costly & has a short shelf life. If this was known from the start, in good conscious Dr. Dattner, as a medical professional, should have sent me to the vet hospital. Tues 5/29/18My baby died and I still have yet to even hear back regarding his Parvo virus results. No family should have to go through this worry and pain. Shame on you and you affiliation with Shake a Paw, and I truly hope the lack of testing was not to help line your pockets. Read Less
