Before I went to Boston Valley Animal Hospital (BVAH), my cat, Sheba, had been treated by three different vets for an inflamed mouth. After a superficial exam, they each had a different diagnosis. They gave her steroid shots and recommended treatment that made no sense.
On my first visit to BVAH, first Keri, the technician, then Dr. Mary Lee Fornes took a profound interest in Sheba. From her detailed history to her in-depth exam, Sheba was treated with respect and gentleness. Dr. Fornes showed me that Sheba's teeth were loose and abscessed and said she needed a full mouth extraction because of a viral infection. (One of the other vets wanted to do a cleaning on her loose and abscessed teeth.) She couldn't guarantee that the virus would completely go away, but said other patients had been virus free after one year. Under Dr. Fornes' care, Sheba healed completely within the year.
I am fortunate to have found BVAH. I've never been to a hospital where the entire staff is so professional, knowledgeable, and caring -- Karen provides expert advice; Eileen and Jessica are wonderful with Sheba; Jimmy and Wendy are always helpful, friendly and concerned.
