We have had two dogs who were both patients of the Village Veterinary Clinic of Hamburg, and we cannot say enough good things about them. The staff and doctors are always helpful, kind and engaged in our pets' care. We really appreciate the clinic's investment in our pets' care and are grateful to have them in the community. We recently put our oldest dog to rest at the clinic and they helped us to make the decision in the most caring and positive way. Our younger dog is still a patient and we really love everything from their on-call staff to answer questions over the phone to their emergency hours for those of us who are overprotective of our furry kids. Drive far to get to a different vet. This place was friendly, clean, I liked their set up (Although if I'd gone w my dog that is reactive to other dogs, it would've probably been a disaster or I'd have had to wait on the porch, as the wait area is pretty close.) and they seemed competent at first. However- I went twice, awhile back, and first was w my new puppy... They did his exam and said he was done and I brought up the fact they never realized he only had one testicle.. Ok, we're human, mistakes happen... So then a week later he must've ate a bee( his mouth was huge on the one side) and they looked at him and said its either a bite or he could've had an infected tooth, but to treat as bite cuz if it goes away, then no point paying for the tooth, cray, etc. ... They said go home. I realized they never took his temp at all. (I am really experienced w animals health etc, and the FIRST thing if infection is suspected is to just take a simple temp. In fact it's prob recommended at any sick visit... So, in summary, they try, but miss very simple basic things at both visits & this would TERRIFY me to trust them w any major or critical issue. Love this place. They love your animal almost as much as you do. They have that magic touch with my pup who always growls and nips at everyone else, he's an angel with them. They know my other pup is anxious when she's there and treat her like a queen(which she is) I'm grateful for the several times we've had to make after hours visits that they were prompt and took great care of my babies. WAS a loyal client..My two dogs and 3 cats were patients here for many years.Brought my cat in due to an injury..He needed antibiotics and anti-inflamitory meds.No xray was takin,no bloodwork..My cats vet examined him and meds were prescribed.Would NOT give me meds my cat needed untill bill was payed in full..I payed more than half of the 450.00 bill (wich i thought was a mistake at first because of how high it was)but needed more time too get rest..Ive always payed my bills here, or was able too make payment arrangments if i couldnt afford the bill ay the moment..Pretty much laughed in my face when i asked if i could make payment on rest of bill.Done with this place for useing pet owners love as a profit and taking advatage of people.Guess they should put a sign out that they only cater too the rich. I'm finally throwing in the towel with these guys. First, since joining this vet 2 years ago, we followed the steps to get one of our pups into daycare, but they haven't had an opening yet? Second, we took x-rays and met with a rehab specialist for one of my pup's legs. The doctor put the x-ray of the good leg on the light board, then spent about 15 minutes physically examining it. She concluded that rehab was absolutely necessary. After I informed her that she had the wrong xray up and had examined the wrong leg, somehow I was still charged for the appointment. The last straw for me happened last week. A few weeks back, we scheduled a small surgery to have a stye removed from above my pup's eye. The day before the surgery, we were called and told that price was going to increase. The increase was blamed on a drug shortage, but when I asked how long ago this shortage happened, I was told around a week. After deciding to still move forward, we had a snow storm roll in that night. The next morning we were called and told that the surgery drop off times were pushed back a half hour. When we came back in from clearing the driveway, my wife had a voicemail that they cancelled the appointment. As of this writing, 2 weeks now have passed and not a word. UPDATE: We started at a new vet yesterday and it went really well. The one pup's surgery is now scheduled for less than half the price (prior to them raising it the night before), and the doctor even took the time to explain it all. Read Less

On Jan. 24th I went into the Village Vet Clinic my beloved chihuahua of 14 yrs was having breathing issues& many other health issues, I had to make the painful choice to put my pet down. I can not begin to tell you how loving and caring they were with my mom and I. They take you in a separate room and offered nothing but love, care and compassion in this hard time. I personally want to thank all the staff from the bottom of my heart for your care love and concern during this difficult time. I have owned dogs for 35 years and have seen a number of vets on both an emergency and regular basis. This place was absolute worst experience I have ever had. Took my dog there on a Sunday when he was having issues. Charged me nearly $400 and provided ZERO value for the money. The vet had no clue what he was doing and offered virtually no advice or guidance on what was wrong or what to do. Our vet recommended this clinic on a day their office was closed. We brought in our 6 year Corso and they took x-rays to find that he was very sick. They gave us a private room, a big blanket, and as much time as we needed to say goodbye to our dog. The doctor and all the staff were extremely kind and considerate. We couldn't have asked for a better goodbye for our family member. It's been about a week, and we received a card in the mail that each member of their staff personally signed to show their condolences. Cannot say enough nice things about this clinic. Read Less

Village Vet is amazing. The staff is always so helpful. My dog & cat have both been a patient there for a year and a half and I would never go anywhere else. I came in for an emergency visit for my dog and once I saw how kind and helpful they were I never went back to my old vet. They have amazing hours and I love taking advantage of the boarding. Wonderful Vet clinic. I live out in Williamsville but I still elect to drive 45 minutes to take my two cats there. Extremely professional and always willing to explain or discuss any questions or concerns I have. I went in to have my little guy have a procedure done. When explained, it was not what I had gone through two other times at a previous vet. The only reason why I changed vets was because they didn't have 24 hour emergency care. So I switched to here. Big mistake. When asked for how much the cost would be, it was much higher than the 2 previous times. Knowing I couldn't afford it, dr bork or however you spell her name told me maybe I should go back to my previous vet. Because I said a swear word in a sentence ( are you $$$$ kidding me? Was what I said) about the cost, in a closed room, she proceeded to tell the doctor who owns the clinic, who came in and told me I was kicked out. I guess he or she or anyone in their clinic has never swore before? If so, they both are definitely not speaking their truth! I could see if I swore at one of them, or in the public room, then most definitely, that's plain abuse. That should never be tolerated. but it was behind a private door in the room! To me, it showed how little they care about pets and how little they care for the owners who only want their fur baby taken care of and scared they can't pay for the services. When I asked for her name, she gave me a dirty look. I guess she wanted to show me who was boss, but all she showed was her non compassion for animals and the owners of animals. If one word could tramatize her to the point that she had to run to the owner, she's definitely not someone I would want caring for my pet. I apologized for the swear word to the owner of the clinic, but he also was displaying the same ego. I have had previous vets in the past in that clinic that have been amazing, and the front ladies are amazing, but I'm so glad I'll never set foot in that door again. I had to bring my border collie Aussie Shepard Riley in as an emergency Thursday night as he couldn't walk and likely had had a stroke. I had to unfortunately put him down but they could not have been any nicer to my husband and I. As you know, it is difficult to say goodbye and they gave us all the time we needed to be alone with Riley and say our goodbyes before we lost him. I thank everyone from the bottom of my heart for your understanding and genuineness during our difficult time. We will be back to pick up Riley's paw print that they are making for us as a memento. Called for appt. for a free well visit for adopted SPCA cat. They said they would honor it but could not give my an appt. right away. So made appt. for a week later. The day before I called to see if I could get my dog in for his 3 yr. rabies shot, too. Said they could not. So I said ok then I will just bring in the cat ... and that I was looking for a new vet for both because we had a really bad experience w/ our previous vet when we put down out other cat. She put me on hold and came back and said she could take both animals the following week. Then I mentioned that our new adopted cat has been scratching his ear more than I thought usual. Said ... well that's not a well visit and we cannot waive the $35 well visit you get with SPCA adoption. It will cost $47 (or $49) instead. Made no sense. If they find something wrong with your SPCA adopted pet they charge you for what is supposed to be a free visit??? Tried 3 times to explain this and she just did not get it. Took pets elsewhere. I really can't express how fabulous this place is! We've been with them for over 10 years! Unfortunately we had to visit them twice in one week..... One for one of our dog being attacked by another dog then later in week we had to put our other dog down due to old age I can't express the compassion we felt from them and know they helped Zander go peacefully as I held him...They are amazing and make you feel like family! Having a close 24hr emergency vet is the only good thing. But I Spent way too much money there. Between visits and surgery and to not even fix the problem. I spent $1200 only to go to another vet and actually HAVE the issue with my dog fixed for under $100 because he actually listened to what the issue was and when it occurred! Emergency visits only. Horrible place. Tried to tell me my dog had a tumor and needed surgery soon. They charged me a fortune for false information. Confered with my own vet and found out there was no tumor. They are there to just take your money. I cringe to think what the outcome would have been if they had operated. There are many more qualified vets in Hamburg than these people. Also very expensive. I have been taking my pets there for years and have used there doggie daycare.....recently my 2 dogs have been having issues, the one had x-rays taken and came home with a bad cough and the puppy somehow got worms...I scheduled dental work for my older dog $800-1000 worth for this week and this morning I get a phone call from the office manager that they are dumping me as a client because they say I am not happy with their service....and that they will REFUSE to treat my animals....how's that for customer service????? I was happy to be able to take my dog in as an emergency & the vet was able to find a stone in his bladder & suggested surgery. I agreed but when I got the list of everything it would include it was too expensive for me. I went through the list & took off what I decided was not needed that cut almost $400 off my bill. It included repeat tests that he already just had & to send the stone away to be analyzed. It also included a cmp blood test for $73 & an electrolyte panel for another $31. For those of you not in the medical field everything in the electrolyte panel is already included in the CMP. So, buyer beware. The woman at the desk was rude & argued with me about removing these things from the list. She made me feel like I didn't care about my dog but I knew better. Then when I picked him up I asked to see the stone & they said seeing as I didn't want it analyzed for another $96 they threw it out.What?? We will not be back. Read Less

This Vet/boarding/daycare, is probably the best I have ever been to. The staff is so kind and so thoughtful. From the minute you walk in, you are greeted by the friendly staff. I bring my Maggie to daycare at least two times a week to play and she has a blast. Always wiped out for the rest of the day/night. The girls that work in that area are fantastic. Even with my over energetic lab, they take such good care of her and she is always excited to see them. Maggie is very hyper and the girls have never once complained about her to me. I think its because she's just so happy to be there with all the other dogs.The boarding is also fantastic. Even though my 1 year old lab has a bit of separation anxiety at night, they make sure to keep her comfortable and check in often. With the cameras in each suite, I check in constantly to see how she is. If I think something is "off" with Maggie,I can call or address it when I return. The vets have been awesome as well. Im new to all this dog stuff and they answer all my silly questions and don't ever make me feel rushed or afraid to ask anything. Brought Maggie in a few weeks ago for an emergency as she was bit or stung by something in the face and was swelling up fast. They had me in there in as soon as I arrived and gave her the meds she needed. The Dr. came and sat with me for a few minutes while we waited for the swelling to go down. Just an awesome experience. They have fair prices for the service you receive and will tell you up front what the cost of the routine services are. Nail trims are expensive, i agree, but after a few times you can learn to do it yourself, as they will show you how, or they have also recommended going to Petsmart which is $15. That to me is minor in the big picture of pet care. My Kitty was also much calmer here when I brought him in for the first time. He used to hate going to the other vet, but VVC vets made him feel more at ease. Love all the services they offer here. Even weekend daycare which has come in very handy and holiday emergencies which also has come in handy. I highly recommend VVC of Hamburg!!!Read Less

I brought my cat in for an appointment that I booked 3 days in advance and I was charged for an emergency visit ($88 plus $16 for a nail trim) ... An extra $50 than a normal appointment! I have no problem with the medical services, or treatment by the vets, or vet techs, however, they are MONEY first animals second. I have an elderly dog that needs dental care. I offered a significant payment the day of care, much more than any cost of proceedure, with the balance to be paid with equal payments over the next 3 months. I am a senior, and they treated me like an 18 year old kid with no credit history. I have never not paid a bill. They obviously don't need my business. Dr. Pol they are not. Read Less
