This place should be ashamed of themselves and quite frankly I believe they should be shut down. I have brought my dog there for the past for THIRTEEN years and little did I know how ripped off we were getting this entire time as well as the MISTREATMENT my dog was put through. Dr Kornet (owner of mid island) should have his vet license ripped from him- mistreating animals and teaching his vet assistants to do the exact same. He is SO arrogant. He does NOT care for animals.Unfortunately for all of us, There is NO accountability when you are veterinary. Let's start with the first horror story- My dog recently tore both ACLs - One right after the other. When we brought our dog in, he was slammed onto the table and pinned down, and at the request of Dr Kornet, the veterinarian assistant held our dogs neck against the table with their forearm like he was some sort of wild rabid animal. Mind you, Our dog has NEVER shown aggression or is neurotic by any means & doesn't even jump up onto guests when they enter our home - overall a VERY sweet animal. Dr Kornet DUG his fingers into my animals legs with such force resulting in LOUD blood curdling screams that Dr Kornet wasn't phased by. (We are pretty sure our dog came in with a partial tear with one leg and left with a full tear due to the mishandling and FORCE endured on him)....And of course we left with a very HEFTY bill. He then referred us to a specialist named Dr. Carb in Farmingdale. Absolute rip off as well. After another hefty consultation bill and an estimate of about 11K- and being told our dog would need 24 hour inpatient care for 2 full days, we decided not to go with this doctor. Absolute nonsense. No dog should need to spend the night after ACL surgery. Once we found our new vet , we quickly learned that is completely unnecessary and your dog can come the DAY OF surgery.Another horror story from mid-island - Our dog had to get teeth extracted. When the doctor called us when the surgery was over, she mentioned her shoulder was SORE because of the force she had to take out my dogs teeth. How could you do that to a 30 pound animal? Why not drill the teeth out like every other animal dental hygienist would do? Instead, used force. Our dog couldn't eat or function for 5 days after the surgery. Mid island charged us $1700 for 7 teeth. Our new vet took out 11 of our dogs teeth and charged $240 INCLUDING a cleaning, and ate dinner the night he got home. Every time you visit midisland they bring your dog into "the back" and do whatever they do to them back there. If they're mistreating your animal infront of your face, i don't even want to think about what goes on behind closed doors back there. The receptionists are rude. They have 0 time for you, don't look customers in the eyes, have extreme attitudes, are very dismissive... are overall nasty. The woman veterinarians there are kind and caring. They should change the animal hospital they work for. It wasn't until the horrible ACL story that we decided to change vets - & we quickly realized what a RIP OFF mid island is. Gauging medications, ordering weekly blood tests that are unnecessary for drugs such as Rimadyl. The sky high bills for each visit - not normal. Other vets are not charging even CLOSE to the amount that mid island charges. MOST IMPORTANTLY, Our new vet is EXTREMELY empathetic, loving and caring toward our animal. If our dog wants to walk around the exam room, that's completely fine with them. They will literally get on the floor with the animal to examen them. They do EVERYTHING right in front of us. There is no "bring the dog to the back" nonsense that mid island does - they even took out the stitches from the ACL surgery right in front of us. Staff handles WITH CARE unlike mid island. We are completely mind blown with the "care" we got from mid island after visiting our new vet. If you go to this place - change IMMEDIATELY. Your animal is NOT being treated with the utmost care that they deserve. YOU are getting ripped off and putting your animal in a dangerous environment. If i could go back 13 years and never step foot in this place i would. Dr Kornet, if you choose to respond, please don't start your response with "I'm sorry". Read Less
