Absolute best animal hospital around. They are very loving and caring to my two cats. My one cat had to have ER surgery after swallowing a piece of yarn...from a cat toy. I took him back here for his follow ups and it was like they did the procedure themselves and knew everything that went on without me having to explain it all. Wonderful work! Howes Cave Animal Hospital is one of the most caring vet practices I've ever experienced. They're always willing to help your pets, and if there's an emergency, always try to accommodate as best they can. If you have a pet they aren't that familiar with,(exotics like rabbits, for instance), they'll refer you to someone who is. All around great vets. Read Less

I've been coming here since 2000, with my dogs, cats, and whatever other creatures I've had. They are great. Always get me right in. The staff is ultra friendly, and knowledgeable. I've always driven quite the distance. From ballston spa, and now from Rotterdam. I love them. I was worried when Dr. Rummel sold the practice but it is the same great care. 100% recommend. I just wanted to tell you how heart warming compassionate , friendly .if ever I have to choose this hospital would be where I take our dogs it takes 1hr to get there but it's worth it ....I want to take the time to thank the doctor that took care of Tank even thought he's been gone 2 days now we miss him very much . he's with the angels now watching over us ..Thank you for taking the time to let us have some time with Tank .We will always love him very close to our Hearts . I started going to Howes Cave Animal Hospital to follow my dogs vet Dr. Dreels. It's about a 45 min drive for me - it's well worth it. Everyone in the office is very kind. I started taking my cat after he was diagnosed  with diabetes and really bad idiopathic restrictive cardiomyopathy and congestive heart failure, which caused the fluid build up in his heart.  They agreed to takeover his treatment which consisted on getting chest taps to remove fluid from his heart. Unfortunately, my Logan passed away a few months later. I was so grateful they didn't give up hope on a very sad case. Five weeks after my cat died. My dog became ill over one weekend - I took him to the vet and passed away rather quickly (he was 14) and unexpectedly.  However, they really tried to keep Otis comfortable while he was being treated. They allowed to sit with him everyday (he was in the vets for 3 days). His kidneys started failing rapidly. I'm thankful everyone was so kind to my animals and tried everything possible. This gave me piece to know my animals didn't suffer long and were comfortable until the ends of their livesAlso, the rates are very reasonable. Read Less

I took my dog to this animal hospital due to limping in my dog's rear right leg and in response to all the great reviews that I had previously read. However, my experience at this office was not as great as others. The consultation with the vet felt rushed and I feel that I couldn't get a word in (concerns about my dog, what else can be done, etc.). The vet even suggested surgery right away without even having x rays done first (my dog has not broken her leg nor is she constantly limping and/or in pain). I will take my dog elsewhere for a second opinion. Read Less
