Our dog became suddenly ill. Shaker is or rather was our vet so we naturally we brought her there. After tests were in , our June had cancer. We found out how badly the cancer had progressed by coming home to a lengthy message left on our answering machine, they had our cell number as well but chose the answering machine, hmmm. To make a long story shorter, we were passed around to multiple Dr's, yet no one took the time to tell us our options or even discuss the results in detail of the ultra-sound that showed the cancer. We decided to be pro-active and investigate on line what steps we could take to help our Junie. We had to ask the Dr to prescribe specific meds that could extend our pets quality of life, they didn't offer us any paths to take. The most responsible person to help us and treat us with some dignity was Cathy, the receptionist. No Dr ever got back in touch with us to see how June was doing. Shameful!
We pulled June's records and went to another area vet, on Wolf Rd in Colonie. They took the time to read June's records, view her cancer results and discuss a plan, in detail, to help with June's quality of life. Well, June died this morning, our hearts are broken and we are angry with the way Shaker wrote June off, just another terminally ill old dog... We have 2 other dogs, never will they see a Dr at Shaker, no matter the circumstance.
