I am so grateful to Mattituck-Laurel Vet Hospital for helping my cat! I sent in an appointment request on Sunday morning. They called back less than 10 minutes later, and were even willing to squeeze me in before they closed at 11. (I couldn't wrangle my cat in time, but still!) They fit us in the next afternoon, and we did have to wait a bit longer than anticipated, but I think they had a few doctors out and they kept me updated constantly. The reception team is very friendly and helpful, and the reception area is totally clean. The veterinarian and the tech who helped me were very gentle and calm with my cat, and they were great at explaining everything they were looking for. They had to keep him for two nights and put a catheter in, but I was encouraged to call for updates and the vet kept me updated with everything she was doing for him. I picked him up and brought him and all his medications home. I don't feel like their pricing is unfair; they even suggested a cheaper place to purchase my cat's new prescription food. It was not a cheap treatment, but my cat would've gotten very sick had I not brought him in. I would take half a star off probably, because my cat also needed tapeworm medication and the vet forgot to do that, but she was honest about it and gave me the ointment for free.This office also takes care of our 100 lb pit bull with no problems. I've been going to Mattituck-Laurel ever since I moved here almost twenty years ago.  In that time they have consistently been exemplary in their care, coordination of appointments, veterinary skills, and biggest of all their heart.  These guys truly care about all my pets.  They've helped me through some really tough times and prevented some really, really bad things from happening.  They are all top of their game starting at the front desk, vets, clear through to the folks caring for pets in the kennels.  Can't say enough good about them.  Whenever new people move to the North Fork I always direct them to Mattituck-Laurel for the best care for the furry parts of their family!!  Love you guys!!! The only vets I trust. Dr. Beth is great. My previous dog had a rare medical condition. They attempted to diagnose it, but couldn't. I like the fact that they knew their limitations and referred me to a specialist. They could have kept trying and increased their bill, but they kept the best interests of my pet and referred me to a specialist, that's integrity. That's why they are my primary vet. Read Less

We go to ML Vet for our two dogs and are very happy with the experience.  The doctors we have seen are all competent and super great with the dogs.  The front desk always has enough people to take care of everyone and you do not have a long wait.Our dogs are family and keeping them healthy is a must.  I am glad there is a vet I like so much.  Also the dental care was less expensive by half that was quoted to us elsewhere.  Our Fox Hound needed a full cleaning and going to ML made it more affordable.  Our English Cream Golden Retriever loves everyone there. My dog, his name is Max, he is stubborn, a little protective, and he doesn’t like strangers. This clinic is AMAZING , they took his vaccinations without hesitation. They were very well informed what to do with Max , they made putting a vaccination look EASY. Sometimes we have trouble putting on his harness! The only vet group on Long Island that I trust. They always go above and beyond. With a dog who has epilepsy, it's important for me to know that they care as much as I do. I get follow up calls to see how he's doing and the staff (although overwhelmed at times dealing with phone calls and counter-recommendations on how to fix that to come) treats me like an old friend.One and only thing I would change is maybe setting up a designated call center so the staff doesn't have to make people at the counter wait while handling a phone call or vice versa, if you are calling you're put on hold while staff deals with clients which takes some time. FANTASTIC; best (and best value) on the North Fork. The place is CLEAN and pleasant; no weird smells. ;) The office staff is as polite, helpful, and genuinely caring as they come. The vets LISTEN to your concerns, don't treat any questions as stupid questions, and aren't in a rush to go overboard. They clearly practice good clinical skills which saves you having to spend lots on lab tests and other diagnostics. For example, when my dog was hurt recently, Dr. Peck explained that you could tell that there was no internal bleeding because her gums were pink and that they turned pink again quickly after being pressed, and that there had been no trauma to the chest cavity because he LISTENED to her heart and lungs, which were normal. I SO appreciate this responsible practice of medicine. When it turned out that my dog did need a surgical intervention, I felt confident that I had the information I needed to make the right decision, and I TRUSTED them 100% that they were not taking me to the bank or trying to profit off of my anxiety. I was here back in May on the recommendation of a few neighbors. Each one said the same thing- "It doesn't matter which vet you get, they're all great". You don't hear that too often, so I'm glad I listened. Excellent all around. Friendly front desk staff (which to me is a VERY important part of a vet's office,) kind and compassionate techs- and a vet who greeted my dog before me- ( I love that!) She took the time to read over all of my dogs complicated medical reports and followed through with everything I asked. I feel at ease bringing my dog here. Customer service is top notch. Had a couple of bad things happen to my cat and every time they fixed what ailed him. One of my cats is afraid of his own shadow so getting him in the cat carrier can be sometimes impossible. They're very understand when I can't get him out from under my bed and have to reschedule.  I just super love everyone I've dealt with here and if they read reviews, I just can't thank you guys enough. It was a heartbreaking decision and you have all been so kind especially your vet tech Christan. She is a sweetheart and was there when I needed her when Hannah passed because she was with us through a lot of her emergency issues that you graciously took us in for. I used this vet when I first moved out here - spent a significant amount of money trying to diagnose one of my dogs.  They could not figure out what was wrong (understandable that happens) but symptoms continued with no diagnosis and after spending thousands could barely get a call back.  I have multiple dogs and I felt it was a very impersonal place.  Despite my going for years no one knew my name, my dogs names so a bit like a factory.  Used this vet for years and spent many a thousands of dollars on check ups, treatments etc.  No one even knew my name or my dogs name.  Once my dog got very sick I was in with the doctor for maybe the sixth or seventh time - I said do you know this dogs name - he said I am sorry I don't and that is when I said to myself this is not the place for me.  I made a move to another vet and am very pleased with my choice.  I will say however I hear Dr Timpone is a good vet and people I know are very happy with this practice.  For me I need a bit more of a relationship with my vet since I have four dogs I am there quite a bit and would like them to know my name. We started taking our fur baby's here a few years ago because my husband Jason had always used this vet. office. I was impressed from day one with this facility and recommend this office. All the doctors here are amazing and our doctor is Dr, Dunbar. This office when you walk in has no smell and all of the staff treat you as if you are the only one there no matter how busy they are. The dr's and techs give 100% of themselves at all times and are very warm which you dont find that often at other offices. This is more then a job to them, its a passion. This past week Dec, 2 we had brought our baby Gracie who we rescued 2 years ago to see Dr. Dunbar because she has had a lot of problems. Due to Gracie being 15 years old she was not getting any better and we had to make the hardest choice to send her out of pain. The only thing to make this choice easier was the wonderful staff who took their time with us and gave us time to talk about our choice. Gracie went peacefully and they let us stay with her for as long as we needed to say goodbye. I can not say enough how wonderful these people are. We have used MLVH for almost 25 years for 3 successive golden retrievers. Dr. Timpone and his staff were always incredible - caring to our dogs and us. We lost our last golden in August 2015 and we were so pleasantly touches and surprised when a casting of her paw was sent to us after she died. Apparently someone at the hospital took this casting after she died and before she went to be cremated. It is something we will cherish forever. Read Less
