I am very happy to give as many kudos to Lewiston Animal Hospital as I can, so you may read this review elsewhere, too. :)The staff here is excellent and what keeps me coming back. I'm especially happy now with Drs. Spence and Stewart at the helm. Dr. Spence is the one I've had as main caregiver in recent times, and she has a wonderful bedside manner - I felt comfortable asking as many questions as I needed to, and felt that I got excellent guidance and advice from her as we treated our cat Nico for a sudden decline in health. When the day came that we had to say goodbye to Nico, I was talked through the painful process carefully and thoroughly, and always had someone there to comfort me if I wanted it. Here I would like to give a special shout out to Dixie and the two Renees, with whom I had the most contact with during this painful time. All that said, during less difficult times they have provided great service and I can't think of a time I haven't been able to get a quick appointment, and their hours are convenient to those who work day jobs. Veterinary care is expensive in general, and I don't think that their care is any more costly than many places. Even if it is - maybe it is, I don't know - I think for the kind of care we get here makes it entirely worth it. I have been taking my 2 pugs here for about 2 years. Very good staff. Dr. Spence did an amazing surgery removing my 12 yr. Old pugs chin to take care of a very quickly growing tumor. He is doing great almost 1 year later. They are very help and are open till 8 pm during the week. Read Less

This place is sad.  The high turnover doesn't help... but it can't be helped most places.  Even with the incompetent staff, at least the Vet should be satisfactory, but unfortunately the incompetent staff adds to this problem.  We've taken our dog here for the past 6 years and have watched this place decline - we've tried to be patient, but can't anymore when it has to do with the well-being of our dog.  He has had several issues and now they're not taking good care of him anymore.  He came out with what looked to be urine stains on him after we just had him groomed.  This last visit, the vet called us with urine test results even though he didn't have a urine test.   WOOOOOOW. I wish I could give no stars. This practice is atrocious. They gave me conflicting results on my cat's blood work, which led to her death (after an unnecessary delay in getting her medication). They failed to diagnose my dog with arthritis, and it's so bad now that his joins make audible crunching noises. I couldn't get out of there fast enough, and wish I'd done so about three years ago. We moved to the area 6 years ago with 6 pets, and only 2 remain. Stay away. Stay far, far away. Read Less

This clinic is terrible and indirectly responsible for the death of one of my pets. Had they called in a prescription when requested, my cat would have had her medication. They waited almost a week, and my cat died. If you are looking for a place that actually cares about your companion animals, look elsewhere. This place can't go out of business fast enough.Read Less

My healthy beautiful chocolate lab puppy was neutered and died in their care June 10, 2015. No explanation of what happened. They claim he just stopped breathing during recovery. Too many questions regarding the paper work with two different weights for my puppy and two of the same medications given to him and one crossed off. They claim they gave him 25 minutes of CPR which according to the time frame recorded there is no way. I did have blood work done before the surgery and I did call the breeder and no evidence of an allergy with his bloodline. We are deeply hurt and do not recommend you to take your pet here if you want to see them again! Read Less

"Personalized and Compassionate care", like leaving a dog to hang herself in a kennel you knew was defective? On a previous visit she was trying to stick her head out of the kennel almost getting it stuck, our family was assured by your staff the mechanism would be fixed so that it wouldn't happen again. Well they never fixed the problem and Venus' next visit would prove fatal. When the dog was supposed to be picked up the staff lied and gave conflicting reports as to what had happened. My dog was twice on the verge of dying due to blood issues in which he needed emergency treatment. Dr. Edwards and Dr. Spence both saved his life with thier knowledge, immediate diagnosis and effective treatment. Words cannot express how thankful and impressed I am with this entire establishment, from the front desk to the techs to the doctors.....everyone was AMAZING. They treated my boy like one of their own, they were always available and went WAY above and beyond...consistently. I have had no issues with the vet I was using, but due to the unbelievable treatment and care my boy received, I am switching all 3 of my pups to the Lewiston Animal Hospital. If you're looking for a veterinarian, I would recommend Dr. Edwards and Dr. Spence 100%. Read Less

I can't say enough about dr. Honeysett, he has been the most caring vet I have dealt with in a long time. Too bad this place got a bad rap from previous vets they certainly don't deserve it now. For the sake of your pet (and your wallet), do not go here. I heard that this place had gotten much better since they acquired new doctors. So when my three year old shih-Tzu was hit by a car and my vet was not available, I came here. They took about 5 minutes to look him over and gave me a quote for $1700 dollars and told me I had to pay upfront. He needed an enucleation of the eye and they would keep him overnight. The next day they called me and said that he would not need the procedure and they would just sew his eye shut. But they did say he had diabetes and wanted to start a treatment on him. I refused the treatments and was correct, he did not have diabetes. Then I went to an eye specialist for animals. They told me that they had done such a bad job of sewing his eye shut that it had caused and ulcer on the cornea and he would have to have the procedure. So I had to shell out all of that cash again.They charged me for things that they said would not be billed, and after I called to discuss, they refused to return my calls about the issue. It seems like several people have had some bad experiences here, and they all say the same thing. They are not trustworthy or competent. Read Less

Trey and I would like to give huge love and appreciation to the Lewiston Animal Hospital, the Staff and especially Dr. Honeysett for such great care of Trey. It is clear that those who work there truly care about animals and their well-being. Thanks to Dr. Honeysett's wisdom and years of experience, within just a few hours, Trey's health improved greatly. I have no doubt that Trey is still here because of him. It amazes me that with a brief listening with his stethoscope, Dr. Honeysett gave a quick diagnosis that was confirmed through tests. And every treatment and/or medication ordered resulted in positive improvements. I feel so blessed to have Dr. Honeysett caring for Trey. First time there today. Very friendly staff. The veterinarian was quite pleasant and helpful. Hardly any wait time once we got there. I'm so happy they were open until 8pm so I could bring my dog in today and not make him wait. Turns out he has an eye infection and I'm very grateful to not have to make him wait to get the medicine because clearly his eye was really bothering him.Read Less

I have been taking my pets to this animal hospial for over 14 yrs. They are very caring and loving towards animals and always take care of my animals as though they were their own. Just avoid Dr. Honeysett, he doesn't seem to know what he's doing, and we have had a few near misses. But they also have Dr. Saffire and she is wonderful!! They always make quick emergency appointments and do a great job. But like I said, avoid Dr. Honeysett. Read Less
