Called today because my ferret was behaving abnormally. The lady I had spoken with on the phone was horrible and had an awful attitude like I was inconveniencing her. I had told her I want to make an appointment but asked if she could ask the vet about the symptoms my ferret was having. She first had said they won’t know until I bring her in. I understand but at the time I was panicking because the app was 5 hours away and if it was an emergency I would go else where. I had asked her again to please ask the vet she says okay hold on. Not even 30 seconds later she got back on the phone and repeated that they won’t tell me anything over the phone. Obviously she never asked. Needless to say I called rockacres and they assured me it wasn’t an emergency and scheduled me an app for 2 hours after I called. When you are a panicing pet owner that is not the customer service experience you want. Anyway I found my new vet because dr Cheri Capparelli is AMAZING! Read Less

Great people, caring staff. I've been to other vets that made me feel like they were just running a vaccination and exam assembly line, but LAHC you can tell that they truly love animals. Recently had to put my senior dog down and they made a very difficult decision go as well as could be. Dr Ruback was amazing, kind and compassionate during his last day, and Dr Lender was great for the many years I had brought my dog in. I'd highly recommend them to anyone. Read Less

LOVE the office staff and great doctors...especially Dr. Wolfer and Dr. Ruback, but I'm sorry to say we are leaving due to the high prices and waiting time to check out. When priced matched to other vets in the area, we were charged 75% more for the same medications and doses including very common/simple antibiotics. When asked why they stated we "could" get them cheaper somewhere else but was never told that before or after the bill was printed and only until we bought it up. If they want to keep loyal customers, they should consider looking at what they charge. Along with that, you wait a long time to check out and pay. I have a problem with waiting to pay a bill. Sometimes its 15 or so minutes. I have a problem with this especially after they've already overcharged you 75% more than other vets in the area. Overall, I think prices should be automatically discussed before they charge you and before you experience sticker shock. This is why we are leaving. Read Less

The staff are kind, caring, and patient. They try to upsell everything though- every time I go in there is a new "must have" vaccine or procedure that I have never heard of. There are so many they couldn't even give them all on the same visit. While I want my pet to be safe, it seems more like a sales push and "flavor of the month" type approach. They do listen to your concerns and keeps notes so you don't have to reexplain every time you visit. All the vets there are great. The support staff treats your pets like they are part of their own family, which is comforting. The worst part about this location is the wait time. They tend to overbook themselves, leading to long waits, especially to check out after your visit. We usually have at least a 15 minute wait to cash out after seeing a vet. Read Less

They're certainly capable, however I spent 2 hours for a 15 minute procedure while my dog yelped and whimpered the entire time. I asked three times if I could leave my credit card info and go home. They blew me off every time I asked how much longer I had to wait. $50 to have his anal glands expressed. Could have had it done at PetSmart for $5. At least 20 other dogs came and went while I waited. They crammed way too many appointments in, obviously for maximum profits, with little care as to its affect on the animals and their owners. I recently moved from another country to Syracuse, NY and I brought my two dogs along. I had to go away for a university education trip on the first weekend I arrived in Syracuse. I called every boarding facility in the area and they all refused to host the dogs because they don't have their medical history and we weren't yet their clients. I was also looking for the family's new vet in our new home. Liverpool Animal Health Center said on the phone they can host dogs without being already clients of the facility, on the condition that their vaccinations are up to date. Just that. No further requirements. We agreed to bring the vaccination records early morning on the day of boarding. But just to make sure, I called again one days before my travel date, and a different lady said they have to examine the dogs and see the vaccination records beforehand. I don't have a car, but I went on and rented a car to take the dogs all the way to Liverpool. Once we arrived the lady didn't even ask to see the dogs, she checked the records and it turned out there were vaccinations missing. (cough vaccine and heart-worm are not available in my country and are not required). I asked her if the dogs can get vaccinated that day, so that we can bring them back to stay for the weekend the next day, but she said there should be a waiting period after the vaccines for about 5 days. I asked her why she didn't ask me to email the records instead of coming all the way and she didn't explain. I asked her why she didn't tell me that in the first call, and also no explanations were offered. Moreover, our big boy Plato had a minor injury in his paw from playing in the park the day before, and he was in pain, so I asked her since we were there already to see the vet, but she said we would have to wait for three hours to see the vet, although she knew we came all the way AND she knew we were students having a class in two hours, AND it was her mistake to ask us to come anyway. Overall, she was rude, condescending and even aggressive. I will never even think of taking the kids there once again. Such a horrible and inconsiderate attitude, not only towards dog owners but also to poor pets in emergency. Read Less

Dr. Lender and Dr. Wolfer have taken great care of our little budgie over the last two years and helped us become better pet owners by recommending nutritious and delicious food (and providing samples to test with her before we buy), offering training tips, and answering my silly questions about our growing relationship with our little ball of fuzz. We use to love this place back when Dr. Nowak was there and Dr. Alison Hazel (was part owner I believe-have since been long gone)... Professionally I trust Dr. Clegg but we decided to leave because our dog and daughter were treated very poorly by Dr. Clegg so many times and also as many others have said well dog visits run $150+++ If you need a refill on meds or a vaccine you have to come back in for a well dog visit and be charged $100 again. Even when you were just there a month before... We ended up coming back when our dog's cancer surgery was not done right at another local vet and Dr. Clegg was so rude that we ended up leaving again for another reputable local vet. Professionally this guy knows his stuff but he is so rude and uncaring with my senior dog that we just could not stay and have nothing good to say about him. Staff at desk were always very polite though. He has a huge turnover in great Drs. there. I think he hires mostly Cornell grads. I wouldn't refer them, if you are looking for a vet in Liverpool area I would refer the owner Dr. Wolcik at Liverpool Village Animal Hospital personally :) (Always ask for the owner though because one female Dr. was very rushing there..) I absolutely love this place. I have been going here for years. I cannot say nicer things about the veterinarians here. I love going to Dr. Clegg(he is my primary veterinarian), and Dr. Hutt and Dr. Lender are fantastic as well. I haven't been able to seen some of the new vets there, but I know that Dr. Clegg has the habit of hiring great new veterinarians along with some of the ""more seasoned"" professionals like himself, Dr. Hutt, or Dr. Lender. \n\n\nThey have great service, and I can't say kinder things about their care.\n\nYes, they can be expensive, but the clinic is on par with all the other vets in the area. Medical equipment and care(veterinary or human) is expensive.\n\n\nAlso, to the previous post. Yes, 22 dollars is a lot for a nail trim, but realize this is a veterinary hospital. They need to take care of injured and sick animals, as well as boarders and the typical check-up. Nail trims take away from that. Vets didn't go to 4 years or undergrad, then 4 years of vet school, possibly a year internship and a 2-3 year residency to trim your dogs nails. WHILE THEY ARE HAPPY TO DO IT FOR YOU( your pet's care and health truly is in their right interests), there are more important things that take place at a veterinary hospital.\n\nVeterinarians and technicians are not groomers Read Less

I have been going to Liverpool Animal Health Center for years with several different animals. I am always impressed with the high level of veterinary care that I receive at Liverpool Animal Health Center. The hospital is a busy, 6-doctor practice, which may is able to bring in a large volume of patients. This seems to be a reason for any wait one may receive( although it is often not as bad as other posts may like you to believe). \n\nThe cost is comparable with a lot of other veterinary clinics in the area. Since there are six veterinarians that work there, it is possible to see a different veterinarian every time you go there, but if you like one, you can simply request them as your primary veterinarian. I have only seen Dr. Clegg( the owner) for many years now. Even though he is my primary veterinarian, the receptionists always ask if I would be willing to see another doctor. So again, if you make an appointment and a receptionist asks if you have a preference, speak up. Just like your own medical care, go to a veterinarian that you trust and feel comfortable with. \n\nThere is no reason to see a different veterinarian every time. It may be nice at first, however until you find a veterinarian at Liverpool Animal Health Center that you truly enjoy. All of the veterinarians, especially Dr. Clegg(owner), Dr. Hutt, and Dr. Lender have all been there for quite a long time. There really isn't a high turn-over rate at Liverpool Animal Health Center.\n\nYes, cost can become high when seeing a veterinarian...especially if you have multiple animals. There are options to pay, including credit care and care credit at Liverpool Animal Health Center. Yes, they read x-rays and ultrasounds( in opposition to a previous comment). They always give you their diagnosis through their interpretations. Still, just like you wouldn't have a family practitioner give you a definitive diagnosis about an x-ray without consult with a board certified radiologist, the same goes for veterinarians. While they do read and evaluate x-rays, and consult with other veterinarians that work there at the same time, they send them to a radiologist to provide the best possible care for your pet. That is the perk of going to an AAHA accredited veterinary clinic.\n\nLiverpool Animal Health Center really is about the best possible care for your pet. I fully endorse any of their veterinarians. While a couple ( out of several) of their receptionists are not spectacular, their veterinarians are...especially the ""big three"" of Clegg, Hutt, and Lender. \n\nI recommend this clinic, and hope that no matter what clinic or veterinarian you choose, you choose one that gives you and your animal great veterinary care. You must be comfortable with this veterinarian and you must be proactive in your pet's medical care. While I chose Liverpool Animal Health Center, I realize that many of you will not. That is not a bad thing, but I hope you choose a veterinarian wisely and take more into account other than cost fo medical care. If anything, I hope this post helps. If your experience is bad, I apologize, but I assure you that I have always been impressed with this place. Read Less

New to the area, so I chose a vet that was close to my apartment. If you are use to having the same vet for each visit for all your pets - you probably won't get that here. I have seen 3 different vets for 3 different cats. Not sure why there is such a high turn over rate with vets here. Some of the vets are not very personable toward you or your pet. I really don't like that they have to take your pet out back for any procedure (shots, cleaning their ears), while you go sit and wait in the waiting room. This is the first and only place I have been to that doesn't give vaccinations right there in the room with you. There also seems to be way to much overhead with this place...with the receptionists, vet techs, animal handlers, and the vets...no wonder why I usually end up paying over $100 every time I go there! One of my cats ended up getting chest x-rays on one visit, and they charged me for a radiologist consult. Can't the vets read these? Isn't that something they went to school for? When you finally do get your animal back, you have to wait another 15-20 minutes just for them to bring your chart out so you can pay for the visit. Not a very efficiently run place. I will be changing vets soon. Read Less

I recently had to switch vet because my current vet changed there hours dramatically. I made several call to other local vets and I just didn?t get the ?warm fuzzy? from any of them. I proceeded to call Liverpool Animal Health Center. I was presently surprised. The person on the phone actually seemed happy to talk to me. Fortunately their hours fit my schedule. They are open until 7pm Monday ?Friday and are also open until 2pm on Saturdays. I was able to get an office visit the very next day, which was a Saturday. When I arrived I was greeted politely and was given a form to fill out. The waiting room was large. It was a well- used room but very clean. I just finished to form when we were called into to the exam room. I accompanied my pet with my 2 children to a small well used but again clean room. We spoke with the vet tech first about why we were there. She took down all of the information in full and then left us to wait for the vet. We waited about 5 minutes when the vet came in. He was fantastic with our 6 month old very energetic 50lb Lab puppy. He did a full exam and gave a very throw explanation of her diagnosis. He also gladly answered all of my 6 and 7- year- olds questions no matter how silly they were. I found the hospital to be dirty, primarily in the the exam rooms; dirt is caked on the wall near the floor. There has been several veterinarians leave the hospital, I think that turn-over rate says something about a business. I don't like the fact that my animal's doctor has to change as a result. The doctor's are very matter-of-fact, they aren't playful or affectionate to my pets. I don't like that they take my animal to the back room (only for staff) to treat them (i.e. shots) and I have to wait in the waiting room. My pet is stressed enough to be there, then to be separated from me just makes her even more stressed. Additionally, I find myself waiting around there for 1 hr - 1.5 hrs every time I go. I almost always leave paying $100-$200 for the visit (over $20 just to get nails clipped is ridiculous!). \n\nThe last place I took my animals to, I would walk in, the receptionists/technicians would know my animal's name and greet her playfully, I would wait in the waiting room for no more than 15 minutes, I would then go to the large exam rooms, the technician would take some info, I'd wait about 5 minutes (if even) for the doctor, then he/she would treat my animal right in the clean, spacious exam room (with me there). Then, when we were done, I would go right to the counter to pay and then leave...no waiting around. In my opinion, this is the way a good veterinary office should be run. Liverpool Animal Health Center doesn't compare. I will be looking around the area for other animal hospitals. Read Less

Read Less

I was very nervous about having to switch my vet but everyone at Liverpool Animal Health Center put all my nerves at ease. Read Less

When I moved to the area, I selected Liverpool Animal Health Center because it was nearby to my new house. Read Less
