I arrived home to find my cat had been throwing up for what had to be a good part of the day. I initially thought she just ate too fast or something, and that it would pass. As the night moved on, the vomiting did not. Worried, I kept waking up throughout the night to check on her. A couple times she would howl before throwing up again. Clearly this was serious. At 7am I called Steinway Animal Hospital (knowing they wouldn't be open yet, but hoping nonetheless). One of the staff members was already there, and I proceeded to inform him about the issue. He told me to just come in at 10:30am when the vet arrived and they would see my cat. I arrived around 9:45 just to be on the safe side if the place got busy. There was only one other person ahead of me, and although I did have to wait a little while, I was extremely grateful for them squeezing me in without an appointment! The waiting room is small, but as others here have said, quiet and comfortable. My cat cried the entire way to the vet, but calmed down once there. Thankfully, they had an hdtv playing Animal Planet, so I had something to watch while I waited! After we were called in, Dr. Tadros took a look at my cat using pretty awesome equipment I've never seen at a vet before (some sort of flashlight/camera contraption). Tadros and staff were very friendly to my cat, soothing her during this traumatic experience! He decided to do some bloodwork to ensure she didn't have some form of liver or pancreatic infection, as well as an x-ray to check for any metal or foreign objects she may have ingested. I knew he wasn't pulling my leg and performing unnecessary tests, since I had a cat earlier in life who passed away from a liver infection, and had similar symptoms. When Tadros returned with the x-rays, he pulled them up on a computer and displayed them for me on an hdtv, taking the time to show me in full detail what we were looking at. He was also extremely patient with me when I had tons of questions, or asked him to repeat what he had said (he has a thick accent). The bloodwork came back ridiculously fast (usually this takes a couple days!!), so my mind was quickly put to rest when he found no abnormalities! We ultimately believe she may have swallowed a feather from a cat toy I got her. I was given plenty of meds to give her, and reassurances that if anything happens, he'll get back at her immediately! He even offered to waive the cost of re-hydrating her if I couldn't do it at home (I just can't stick a needle into my cat!!). The cost was pretty expensive for everything, but not outside the realm of what you'd expect to pay for a vet visit. This experience has definitely convinced me to purchase pet insurance for my cat!! I can't afford any more accidental ingestions!! Thanks again Dr. Tadros and team! It's clear you care very much about your patients! I will definitely be back for my cat's check ups!*As an update, I took Jet back the next morning to get more IV fluids put into her since she didn't drink any of the stuff they gave me to take home. I'm not entirely sure the place is even really open for business on Sundays, yet I was still able to bring Jet in and have them hydrate her for me. To further prove how much they care about pets, I saw this MASSIVE cat walking around the office. The assistant told me that he was abandoned my his owner (she brought him in for a check up and never came back to get him!!!). They decided to take him in and take care of him!For that, I've bumped my review from 4 to 5 stars for being a vet that truly cares about animals! Read Less
