My dog had surgery at MVAH and I want everyone to know that the ENTIRE staff was wonderful and I - and my dog - could not have gotten through the process any better than we did if it wasn't for their help.  From the front desk, to medicine dispensing and explanations, to their phone calls to check up on my dog (and me), each doctor and staff member involved showed patience with all my questions, and more.  They took the time, they understood what my dog and I were going through and genuinely cared. These positives reviews are FAKE (imo). This company is scum of the earth! they literally hold your dogs medication hostage for their overpriced annual wellness visits, which consist of a vet spending 5 minutes with the dog and charging you over $100. these people are worse than the Monroe Veterinary Association, do yourself a favor and stay the heck away! The vets here take the time to make sure every question you have is answered. My dog needed anxiety meds and they were thorough in their questions and explanation, they made sure I was comfortable with the plan, and even got my fearful, shy dog to come out of her shell during the visit. I am a college student and often need to do dosage changes over the phone. Mendon Village was more than happy to make accommodations. Highly recommend, especially if you have a fearful dog! I have been going to Mendon Animal Hospital for just under 4 years after I adopted a dog. The care has been fine - as a nervous first-time dog owner, I went in multiple times for things like eye goo (nothing wrong, fine fuzzy hair in eye), medication for thunderstorms etc. This year, I missed getting my healthy dog to the vet for her annual exam. I realized this a few weeks ago and called and scheduled the appt. This review is based on an incident that happened yesterday. I was planning to board my dog during a short vacation before the annual appt and called to see if she was due for her Bordatella shot (she was up to date on rabies through a town clinic). She did need the vaccine and the receptionist placed me on hold to check with the vet to see if they could give her the shot before her annual exam. She got back on the phone and said that since I had missed making a timely annual exam for my dog, they could give her the shot early but I would need to PRE-PAY for the annual exam. Um, what? The sub-text was that I had been a negligent dog owner because I was late with her annual exam and they couldn't trust that I would indeed bring her back in for her annual exam which was already scheduled. Additionally, I would need to bring the rabies paperwork from the clinic to 'prove' that she was up to date on this shot as well. To say that I was offended by all of this was an understatement. So if you like being treated in a sanctimonious, judge-y manner, this may be the place for you. Read Less

All the staff are friendly and ready to make your visit comfortable. We had to say good-bye to our best friend. Mendon Village Animal Hospital used to be about the animals. They HAD the best care, love, support and "parent" bed side manner. I have taken my animals to this hospital for the past 11 years. I have had 3 dogs and 5 cats throughout that time. I have had several allergy problems with pets, illnesses, injuries, surgeries, and issues that you just could not imagine. However, it is in my opinion that the practice has become too large, and too rushed. It is not the same. It is not the office staffs fault, or even the technicians. I don't believe that all of the doctors are to blame either. I have had several instances where my chart, my pets meds, or bill has been incorrect. My service has been at times, not at par, I have been pushed to the back burner and even had tests forgotten to be run. The last straw was when I took my latest pet in to be neutered and I was pushed off until the evening for him to be done. I was never notified, no staff answered the telephone the 3 times I called after 2:00 as I was told to do, and I was literally lied to, berated, chastised and patronized by one of the OWNERS of the practice over the telephone when I wanted to know why I could not pick up my kitten on time. I am not an insignificant pet owner or even a lackadaisical one. I keep track of my animals and I take care of them. I have paid good money to that practice. I have spent upwards of $15,000 in the past 5 years to keep my animals healthy. The least they could do is treat me with respect. Read Less

MVAH is an outstanding animal care facility. Dr. Gluckman is the best, and Dr. Williamson is also terrific. So incredibly knowledgeable, compassionate and informed. They have been attentive and kind, and have indeed shown that they themselves are caring pet owners, treating our furry loved ones as their own. Whether treatment is a routine exam, an individual problem, or dealing with end of life care, they have demonstrated a deep sensitivity for which we are most grateful. And lets not forget the staff. Love these vets! Consistency is fantastic - I almost always get an appointment with the same vet, so they really get to know you and your pet. Dr Gluckman is caring, thoughtful and really listens to the owners. We've been with him for many years (currently on our third labrador) and twice he has tried a procedure/treatment based on a comment I made. He is also less interventionist than some vets and will observe an animal over several days if possible before intervening with surgery etc. Have had to see someone else in the practice in an emergency and all were wonderful.
