I'm new to the area, and had to find someone for an emergency visit for my cat. When I arrived, the vet (Dr. Galvis) was very short with me regarding my cat being unfriendly. The staff had been forewarned that my cat would be unfriendly, and she exhibited no patience with him. She diagnosed what she believed to be the situation and offered antibiotics. She also mentioned that it could be more serious, but given that he did not allow a full check up, they wanted to do a urine sample. They set me up with very expensive fake cat litter to do the test at home. When checking out and paying their computer system was down, and it took 25 minutes to do so. They were so indifferent about it, it was very frustrating. Then when my husband returned with the urine sample the next morning, they charged him an additional $30 lab fee that they did not mention the day before. Then, due to the weekend, they said we'd receive a call on the Monday with results. They never called for test results for 7 days. When I called, they said "oh, we have it somewhere..." and had to call me back. When they did, I informed the woman (Donna) that it was unacceptable and negligible (especially considering it was bad results, and not what the doctor thought!!). I told her that if my doctor was going to be giving me or my children results, we'd be called whether it was positive or negative, and I expect the same standard of healthcare when I choose a vet. Her response is that I have a good doctor and I'm lucky. I told her that was not the correct response to have, and that they're in the wrong and it should have been addressed in a timely and professional manner. I also told her that given the results, a complimentary recheck should have been suggested, just to show that they actually cared about the well being of my cat. Her response was "The best I can do is say sorry, we have some new staff and you didn't get called." When offered an opportunity to show they cared for my pet, or possibly redeem themselves, I was met with a sarcastic tone, and a snarky response that I was lucky to have received test results. This is unacceptable, and as a mom to three pets, I find it heartbreaking to know that had my cats situation been more dire, it could have been life threatening and the vet wouldn't care. Now I've had my one and ONLY visit to the Miller Place Animal Hospital, over $200 down the drain, and in search of a compassionate and professional animal hospital. Read Less
